  • Join Julia Barminova, watercolour artist and Royal Talens ambassador, as she explores the depths of the sea with her watercolour paintings. Enjoy in-depth information on techniques and live demonstrations with Rembrandt watercolours!
What a fascinating feeling, when drops of watercolour paints of different saturation and shade become something bigger on your blank, white paper.
After explaining water colour techniques from entry to expert level, Julia shows you how to paint your own sea. At the end of this workshop you can look at a watercolour painting of a body of water and have the exact understanding of how it was done.
This is the recording of the Rembrandt workshop that took place on January 21st and 23rd of 2021. If you were unable to join or just want to see the workshop again, enjoy!

I couldn't understand anything she so painfully tried to say... I switched the sound off. Besides, this is a painting of a boat in water, not How to Paint the Sea...

Hi Julia - you make it look so do-able, but you are clearly a master of your profession. Could you please tell me what detail brush you use?
Thank you for sharing your beautiful skill with us all.
Really enjoyed it. It’s also really great to watch in real time and not time lapse for a change.
Gives you a real sense of the time it takes and all the decisions you need to make as you go along. Thank you.

Hi! Thank you for your kind words! I believe the brush she used is the Van Gogh Watercolour Brush Series 191 No. 3

Love her art and was excited to find this video. Great information but it's hard to understand her English. I turned off the audio and tried the auto-generated subtitles, but obviously they are inaccurate and confusing. Perhaps Royal Talens can provide accurate captions in English. It'd be very helpful to make the most of this valuable video.

My hand was shaking when you painted the rigging lines, one chance at getting those thin lines straight and uniform. Quite incredible draftsmanship. Very nice tutorial. Royal Talens watercolors, both the professional line (Rembrandt) and the slightly more affordable (Van Gogh) are great and highly light fast, and their brushes are wonderful. It's nice to see such a capable artist doing instruction like this. Bravo!
