Right on man! Came across your page here a few days ago and have been watching a ton of the 12v content. I even flipped the videos to oldest first lol. I've got a 97 12v eclb with an automatic, my pops bought new and like you I rode in the back out of the dealer, unfortunately were in jersey and the rust got the better of the cab and fenders. My pops gave me the truck and i think I may have finally found a doner, 96 ecsb gasser. Really hoping to bring that truck back to life. Plus its only got about 180k on it!! Thank you for the extra motivation and Keep up the good work!!!

Great looking truck! I have a 90 F250 and I put a 93 12 valve Cummings. I got 400 k miles on the old girl. I am doing 570 miles a week and wife wanted me to get something newer and "more" reliable, so have 2012 Cummings. I'm going to miss that ol girl... I know the feeling you have for that one. Funny enough, i was looking at virtually the same truck in ‘97 (it was a 3500 dually though) and it was nowhere near the price your grandma paid. Great to see your passion to resurrect the ol’ girl.
The last time i was actually in Battle Mountain, Nevada had no speed limit on rural highways. Those were fun days! Been to the Flying J a few times since. My 97 Dodge had a bird's nest in the tailpipe, & a mouse nest under the hood (in the hood insulation).
I have a similar story with my 03 GMC yukon. It was my grandmas and I was bugging her for years to sell it to me. Well 2 years ago she gave it to me. I rode in the back seat with grandma and grandpa when they bought it new in 03. When I got it the thing only had 67k on it. I love the truck and will never part with it. It is an amazing thing! Glad to see your grandma is doing well!
Bring it back to life, keep it stock looking. I like to say I'm cultivating a grandpa aesthetic with my 94 12v. 2wd, tubular tow mirrors, red interior, hula girl bobble on the dash. Still needs a bug deflector, mud flaps, wood bead seat cover.
If you do pull the engine to rebuild it that will make for some very exciting videos. It’s nice to see how well the 5.9’s hold up to heavy use. Love seeing the cylinder walls and pistons plus to see the condition of the bearings on the crankshaft.
I traded an 2004 cadillac escalade for a 1997 12v just like this but single cab. I only had 1300 in the caddy. I am having a nv4500 installed now. only 210 on the odometer. Can't wait till I get her back!

I have a 96 12v. Love had it for about 6 years found it on a farm and had to put about 5000 in it. Worth every cent. I have about 280,000 on it. Best truck ever

You know what’s funny is the 12 valve that’s in my gummies was out of my grandads dodge he bought new in 1998, I got it it from him and drove it for a year before I put it in my ford! So it’s staying in the family too!
There is nothing wrong with that Cummins. All it needs is a water pump and a new belt and l would flush out the coolant system and you will be on your way.

Shane Olsen I fixed the killer dowel pin on this truck in 13. And it hasn’t moved at all. Luckily so that’s all good. And that ol truck somehow was turning heads at the gas pumps. Even out of its prime it’s still got it 🤘🏻
MAN WHAT A STEAL! That would be a true unicorn up here in northern Wisconsin where I live, 99% of of em still runnin around are rusted out real bad, would be a miracle to find one in such good shape like this one! Awesome truck man, have fun with her!

This is great very similar thing happened to be grandma and grandpa gave me a 1994 12 valve 5 speed loaded 2wd after I got then steering fixed for them
At the age 12v trucks are getting to be the head gaskets are starting to rot out. 15 to 20 years is where paper head gaskets tend to start failing from age on a lot of different vehicles.
My cousin bought a new dodge 6.7 and the guy that sold it to him said the reason that he sells dodges is because he was deployed to Iraq fifteen years ago and the humvees had 12 valves and they would get shot, blown up and the 12 valves would still run and get put into another humvee
Straight pipe it, cold air intake, and just be done. I wouldn’t touch the fuel pump. They are to hard to find without them all rigged up. All the youngins get there hands on these trucks and screw them up. You have an all original truck mostly. I think it would be awesome if you just did a full-original restoration.
@@connerbutler1077 trans is great I rebuilt the trans myself I put $3500 in parts into to hold to extra power that I added to it. No the converter never does that on mine theres a way around that on a 12v. Get rid of the junk factory throttle position sensor. And put and adjustable one on it for dnr.
@@connerbutler1077 delete the tps while ur at it to will save u headaches down the road.check out dnr customs. Yeah the lockup switches are easy to install I have one in my truck I barely use it unless I need 2nd gear lockup which u have to have a modified valve body.
Andrew Price you can convert it to a 4wd. Takes a lot of money to do so. But you could do that and make it worth a lot more money. And have 4wd of course haha.

V-BELT and SON the body was pretty rough and the auto that was in it I sold. I just scrapped the body it wasn’t worth keeping

Lucky bastard lol i cant find a 12v in my area even with a blow trans or blown head gaskets they still fetch 8-12k if it runs 15k all day

98 12 valve yeah that’s what I want to do to it. I still have the trans out of it aswell. Lol in time it will be new

Never can go wrong with a 12v. I have a 96 with 461000 miles the engine is original the head has never been off of it.
