I missed this tradition of every year waiting for a new Harry Potter book and getting them for christmas or near christmas (because that's when they would come out in Brazil) and reading them during my vacation time. It was a nice tradition and I can't wait to get back to it with the new illustrated editions
I said I wouldnt buy the illustrated edition if HP right away, but when I saw it in a shop and had a little flick through I knew I couldn't leave without it. You're so right, Jim Kay has done an outstanding job on the illustrations! Even though he has adhered to J.K. Rowling's writing, he has out his own spin and interpretation in to the images. I just wish we didn't have to wait years to collect the entire series!
Those Olympians graphic novels look ace! You might also like the Wonder Woman New 52 arc by Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chang, as that involved a lot of Greek God family tree shenanigans, and some creative re-imaginings of how some of them looked. Hades was brilliant!
:) Hope you like it! Personally I found the artwork in that arc a lot more accomplished than the story, but there's a lot to like on both fronts I think. Chang uses inspiration from Greek art styles, like the line work in Diana's hair. Her hair is awesome. :)
I absolutely love comics and graphic novels! Have you tried Hellboy yet? It's technically horror, but it's horror in a Lovecraftian sort of way rather than gore. Mignola has the most interesting illustrations, lots of shadows and no overuse of text. He mixes in A LOT of folklore and myth into his work. It's just fantastic!
Have you seen the just published pricey deluxe ed. of HP book I PS? Product plus plus plus. All 7 deluxe ed. books'll put someone back >$1000 US and together would be superheavy.
Have you heard about the graphic biography of Rosa Luxemburg? It's called red rosa and even tho I haven't read it yet it seems really good so I thought I'd tell you about it haha xx

unfortunately, i found wytches to be boring and not a fan of the art. i was flipping through the pages. i just donated it to my work place library. now saga is on a whole different level.its the best out there

I need to start the Saga series, I have never owned/read a graphic novel so this would definitely be a good one to start on as I love sci-fi!

I just got the Harry Potter book for my nephews! I am so excited to introduce them to the wizarding world.
If you like more of the horror graphic novels I would suggest Through the Woods by Emily Carroll it is super visually stunning
