She is from Chile but was not appreciated by the industry in that country, they didn’t let her talent flourish. She moved to Mexico the land of her musical heroes, and it was not easy but after ten years there she developed her style inspired by the culture and her musical heroes like Juan Gabriel that she and her grandmother used to listen to when she was a kid and all the pain she has gone through. She become a Mexican citizen and her musical talent bloomed and was taken in by the industry of that country and now she is known all over Latin America. Great success story.

This was written about her ex who broke her heart. She was so heartbroken she was contemplating committing suicide. She suffered so much in her life up to this point. She was born in a very impoverished town in the country of Chile (South America) Her house had no doors and parts didnt have a roof. Her father left her n her mother when she was 6 yo. Her grandma who was a singer influenced her to sing and that is how she got through her youth. She was known in Chile and felt that if she was going to make it big she had to go to mexico. At that time there was a competition for new young artists. Her and her then boyfriend left Chile to Mexico and entered. The competition. As time went on her BF got homesick and left her in Mexico by herself. Heartbroken she went on and placed 3rd in the competition. She recorded an album and did some TV work but nothing really happened. She sung in bars and buses for a living adopting the Mexican culture as her own. As time went on she met another guy and fell deeply in love. They were together for 2 years and all of a sudden he left her. She was left devasted and gave up on life and contemplated suicide. She began to compose music and write songs. She dyed her hair black, got tattoos, and changed her style of music. Before ppl knew her as Monserate Lafarte. When she recorded her second album, first in her new style she changed her name to Mon Laferte.

She tells this story and said she wanted to die and kill herself. Many years after the event and both went their way.. , her ex passed away at 40 years of age. True story!!
