      Not only that but how do we Hoover it all up?
      Imagine a small room with a soda straw spewing wood smoke and another straw elsewhere inhaling the room’s common air.
      Despite a 1:1 relationship of airflow, the room will remain smoky.
      You’d need something like 100x the filtration to make a real dent in the smell.
      Now scale that to every tailpipe and smokestack on earth lol
      Granted my argument is an overreach for CO2 because it’s safe at trace (smell) percentages but in the case of sulfur hexaflouride and carbon monoxide, probably not.

In addition to capturing carbon dioxide, trees are pretty to see, they help the local people by changing rainfall patterns, and they provide a place for animals to live. Sam, I am with you on this. CCS does not reduce the CO2. It just stores it. It has never been successfully achieved at scale despite O&G throwing billions at it. This type of engineering is not a mass market solution. Stopping CO2 emissions altougher, we're possibly, should be our strategy. Some companies would be better to invest in solar, wind & batteries rather than CCS.

    interesting thing about sulferhexafloride or SF6 gas is that its used in power transmission. medium to high voltage switching is done with contact bathed in SF6 gas because it prevents arcing. MVS switchgear and HV circuit breakers and MSG switchgear all use SF6 gas and they do leak it.

    • @bryanackerly7775
      @bryanackerly7775 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I remember a training video from a large international company I work for stating that they have eliminated SF6 gas from their HV and MV switchgear. I don't directly work for the department concerned but I thought I would just mention it to show there are actually solutions out there to this issue.

    • @johnnyb8629
      @johnnyb8629 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @bryanackerly7775 yea, if we eliminate the use they will need a alternative. My data center is between 2015 and 2024 buildings and we use all SF6 so there is probably a compromise in using the alternative gas. It's like refrigerant gas, there are only so many elements on the periodic table to make a hydrocarbon.

    Assume that carbon capture is truth, even economical, do we know whether capturing CO2 in the air a good thing or a bad thing? There are always two sides to everything. I have seen far too many group thinking that increase of CO2 is a bad thing, but has there studies that it is good thing?

Or is there a way to extract the C02 back out of it? That would make more sense, but then they need to explain how. Because the extraction process is going to use some energy. • @user-el1hd3iz6m
      @user-el1hd3iz6m 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      While it's true that plant growth relies on CO2, CO2 isn't the only ingredient that plant relies on.
      As an analogy lets imagine a person that loves pizza.
      We can say this person's growth relies on pizza.
      However, we all know that this person cannot grow just on pizza alone.
      This person will need beverages and an assortment of other different food to thrive, otherwise this person is highly likely to get very sick from eating pizza every meal, forever.
      Furthermore, this person may be able to eat an entire box of pizza per day, but would be impossible for this person to eat 10 boxes of pizza per day, no matter how much this person may love pizza.
      So even if you give 100 boxes of pizza per day to this person, it won't make this person grow faster.
      In the same reasoning, more CO2 won't make plants grow faster beyond a limit.
      Furthermore, a plant's growth requires:
      1) light, for photosynthesis
      2) carbon dioxide (CO2), for conversion into carbohydrates during the photosynthesis process
      3) water, for nutrient uptake, photosynthesis, and structural support
      4) mineral nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, etc), for metabolic processes
      5) oxygen, for respiration where plants convert stored energy into a usable form (especially at night when the sun doesn't shine). Yes, plants do breath oxygen.
      Moreover, we had already crossed the point where there is so much CO2 in the air that even if the entire earth is covered in plants will not be enough to make a meaningful difference in CO2 levels. As a result, active carbon capture technologies are necessary to help reduce CO2 levels and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

    Dear Vikings, trees are a great idea, but they grow slow Soo planting trees is a nice solution but the effect of it comes too late. Moreover trees die and then give most of their carbon back to the air. We need solutions now! So bind the carbon, make artificial clouds, pour water over gletsjers to make them white, keep the rainwater inside the cities and use it as a natural coolant on warm days etc. We need it all.

      @Dave-cf4vd 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's not that we don't care... we just noticed you have turned this into a political weapon (hence your comment). Every single climate measure has resulted in the government getting bigger and more powerful while the people get poorer. Why not some measure that limits, say, the ability to start wars since they are enormously destructive to the planet. I'll remind you out of the last 4 or 5 President the Republicans have actually started fewer wars. Your mascots: Al Gore, Greta and AOC have been both hilariously wrong in their predictions, and outrageously hypocritical with their own lifestyles. The movement had to be rebranded from "global warming" to "climate change" due to inaccuracies in your climate model and predictions. Fundamentally you guys are nihilistic and anti-human; we know we are the carbon you want to reduce. You campaign to make sure we don't have babies because it's bad for the environment, and then you flood the country with other folks who don't need to follow those rules. You praise Joe Biden for being a champion for environmental concerns, while ignoring that he committed the greatest act of environmental terrorism in human history. If you can decouple this movement from the obvious political grift, and stop stealing from people, and be a little more honest about what is not known about the science - then you might find you have way more allies in preservation than you thought.
