Thank you for this clarification. You say those things I believe. I never wanted to be a biker, yet I became one. I went from building fast street race cars to owning a 1972 SuperGlide and started working on it I found more personal pleasure on the bike than in beating "The fast cars" The old time Harley mechanic here in town told me it wasn't my bike until I had worked on and bled into every part of the bike. He knew the bike and we knew the original owner. And I do remember the day he called it my bike. People ask me now "Why do you own 2 bikes?" I tell them "it's because I can't justify the third one yet."

Ol' Loki paid zero attention to your diatribe! Those parting clips of Loki were priceless! He is adorable! On subject, now, I was always clear about your message, because I take the time to listen carefully, read accurately and to think/reflect. Still I do appreciate that you took this time to clarify your intentions; it shows that you really care.

I Ride a Honda Shadow. I understand everything you are talking about. I get told often I ride a girls bike. I love my Shadow! I love the ride! I love the freedom I feel every time I start my bike and know I'm about to embark on an adventure. Thank You Red! Took the word right out of my heart. You have the heart of a true biker. The majority of bikers I know started on a Honda, I had a late sixties super cub when I was 12, then a CT 70, then a CB 450, then a CB 750, then a BMW 750, Then a Tour Glide (Shovel) and presently a 1200XL probably my favorite HD of all!

Harley makes its money off the people who buy new bikes.
I could never afford or justify paying that much for a bike.
I’ve owned 8 motorcycles including 2 shovelheads, a sportster, a buell as well as some Japanese numbers.
You usually find better people on crappier bikes, but that’s not always the case.
I rode my shovel flh from Ohio to Sturgis about 30 years ago with some friends who had the new then evo bikes.
Trying to keep up with them on the highway meant a lot of wide open throttle riding which caused the inevitable breakdown on the ride home.
There is some snobbery amongst the wealthy Harley riders, you just have to ignore it and see the humor in it.

@brucehelppie6119 I started out on a Honda in the 60s, went to a bonnieville in the 70s and then to a flathead Harley with a stretched springer and a rigid frame with suicide clutch and jockey shift. Still have that bike. Since then there is a panhead, a couple of brits, and now I am into twin cams and very happy with them.

As a kid in the sixties , walking to school thru alleys I was walking home after school one afternoon and saw a bunch of model cars in my new neighbors trash( overflowing out onto the ground) !!! Then I was standing there looking at all the neat parts (for my models) I heard a kachunk a couple swear words , a few more kachunks, then the sound of a Harley firing up !!! The new neighbors were bikers !!! 2 couples had moved in !!! That winter Randy ,Marv and Scott rebuilt there bikes next door in the garage - a pan a knuckle and a shovel !!! I was there most of the time I could , to hand wrenches to them get beers ,whatever !!! That experience and the sound of Harleys was unshakable !!! Been riding Harleys(mainly beat up old Sportsters) then finally kids were grown got a fairly new ( 1 year old ) Sportster !!! Rode it for 15 years and then traded it for a Twin Cam Heritage a couple years back !!! Never really thought of myself as a real biker , just a guy who loves the sound of a VTwin Motorcyle and the feeling I get while ridin it !!! Am I a biker ??? Dunno , don't care !!! Gonna keep ridin' till I can't anymore !!! Oh I came across your channel couple days ago , saw your "Peachland Swapmeet" video and enjoyed the fresh content from a female rider( Easy on the eyes Redhead at that) and added you to the utuber list of creaters I enjoy -Weems , Shadetree etc. Thank you for the entertainment, young lady !!!

I grew up in a Honda family(my father once jokingly told me if I ever grew up and bought a Harley, he'd disown me) in the age when Harleys were the cool thing to ride(the 1970s) but I learned how to ride on a Honda and owned Hondas up until my 30s, I rode my first Harley when I needed to run an errand and a friend told me to take his Harley, I think I rode for just a few blocks and was just utterly amazed by how it rode, it was nothing like a metric bike, I was hooked from then on and have owned nothing but Harleys ever since. The main reasons I ride and love Harleys isn't because I think it makes me cool or tough, it's because I love the way they ride and feel, and as a son of a mechanic, I love to work on and tinker with the bikes and cars I own, Harleys(in my opinion) are easier to work on than the metric bikes and with the sheer abundance of aftermarket(& oem) parts available for Harleys, I can customize the bike to my specific liking. I don't begrudge or look down on anyone who rides something different, as long as they're getting their kicks in the wind, good for them. Ride what you love for the sake of riding.. Period. 🖖

The first time I ever saw a motorcycle I was probably around 5 or 6 years into my life. It was one of the most wonderful experiences I’ve ever had and It has never subsided. I remember I was with my parents and we were in the big city, so to speak, to do some shopping, my home town was very small and there were no motorcycles in it in those days (as far I know.) I’m pretty sure it was some kind of midsized Honda. Maybe like a 175 or 350 something like that. Back in those days, the late 50s, Honda would put chrome pieces on the tanks, plus all the other chrome parts and pieces that they would put on their stock motorcycles. I was in the back of my parents station-wagon (Dodge Dart). And I saw it. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen in my life. I flipped out, I started yelling and gesticulating and jumping up and down and I became almost inconsolable. I new from that day on I would be spending much of my life riding that motorcycle, or at least something like it. Of course I had to wait until I was 18 and leaving home for it to become possible, because my parents never gave me permission to get one as long as I was living in their house. I had money saved from odd jobs, mowing lawns, painting houses, etc. And the day I was leaving home and moving into my friends new apartment, I first had to catch a ride to that big city, so to speak, to pick up the new Honda CB350 Scrambler that I had secretly purchased a week earlier. The rest is history.

I'm not a Harley guy, but I sure do understand your comments. My tastes tend towards the Limey bikes. I've got 2 of them plus Honda's first adventure bike, which never caught on in North America. Oddly enough the Honda has become my every day rider due to it's upright riding position and the torque from it's thumper. Keep doing what you're doing and thank you.

The new generation of riders is so different from when we were young. We were happy to just be on a motorcycle. It was just all about riding and not so much what you rode. It's amazing to think that a tv show could foster an entirely new culture of riders, one that I personally can't relate to. The attitudes, and lack of respect for other people's choices I want no part of. Your heartfelt words ring true for many of us. Ignore the negative comments and keep speaking your truth. I'm 69 years old and bought my first Harley Davidson in 2020. Brand new 2020 Road King Standard in Stiletto Red. I bought it because I retired in 2019, I love being on two wheels, and had wanted an HD ever since the first time I watched "Then Came Bronson" on TV in the sixties as a kid with a Yamaha 125 Enduro. What I've found is that I don't fit into the so-called "biker culture". Sure, I enjoy going to the bike rallies and being around like minded people, but I find the guys (and gals) who somehow think they're part of an elite group because they've been riding longer or because they're in a club, or maybe it's just because they're assholes, to be extremely low class and annoying. I love to ride and I love the heritage of the Harley Davidson brand. Owning one hasn't changed who I am, because I've always had a rebellious spirit, and that has carried over into how I approach being a PERSON WHO RIDES MOTORCYCLES.

I ride because I love riding and always have. I'm mostly a Honda guy - currently ride an Africa Twin DCT and a Super Cub (have a Piaggio scooter also) - but I love H.D. too and one day hope to own one (maybe a Heritage or even a Road King). I've just never had the financial opportunity yet. I will say that, out on the road, even when I'm on my Super Cub, the metric guys/gals and the H.D. guys/gals both wave back to me when I wave to em, and vice versa. I don't see a tension between any of us; we're all in the same "on the road" community from what I've seen in my years of riding. The outlaws ride everything too, both metric and H.D. and I don't think there's much of a correlation there. Two thumbs up to you and Loki!

We thank your mom and dad for having you and rearing you in this way, it's refreshing. I would jest with guys thanking them for riding rice cuz it meant more Harleys for me to ride lol, but never mean spirited. We and they ride for the passion of the ride, absolutely I respect anyone who is like minded, not necessarily weekend warriors or profilers. Yes, we sacrifice to make parts, tires, oil and gas etc because it's when we feel most alive 😊. Great to have a woman, help mate who can ride one home if God forbid any health or other matters also. You are spot on with your assessment of why most people buy harleys, H-D spends a lot of money marketing their bikes to those people. I have been on 2 wheels for 49 years (got my first minibike a 9years old), bought my first street bike in 1976, I rode Kawasaki and honda's until 1999 when Victory came out, still have and ride my 2003 Victory TC, just bought an Indian Roadmaster this summer, great bike, (I wear it as a badge of honor having never owned an H-D). Most of my riding friends have H-D, after all these years riding I am still not clear what a "biker" is, I guess I have never been interested in labels. Ride on.

I’m definitely into the look of my bike, Indian Chief, no denial there and it gets some looks with my customization but, I really like chumming down the road, sound, the vibration, and yes, it’s unique as there are a sea of baggers, Dynas, Adv bikes- I definitely like to ride but it also “feels” cool so no denying that. EXACTLY! Im a Vet with no friends who stresses out really bad outside my place. 4 years ago I saw there was a Veterans MC really close in the next town over. I went to look up their website and other than all the biker club rules about having to be introduced by a fellow full patch, and having to hang around, prospect and then get 100% to full patch and their gear that says VFFV, the thing that really made me mad (other than not being able to just go and say "hey Im Rob Im looking for some vet riding friends") was that one of the rules was that you have to ride a Harley Davidson. So Im a Vet and yet cant join (for multiple reasons) because I have to own a Harley. I do have a Harley but why should I have to when all that is supposed to matter is that Im a Vet with a bike. When I told my psychologist about it she warned me to stay away from them as they had been investigated by the police for ties to a local Outlaw Biker Club. So just as good I guess.
