Brian Setzer is an amazing musician. Playing the guitar that well - awesome. Singing at the same time - amazing. Jumping around like a loon at the same time? Impossible. But there he is doing it.
Yup, graduated HS in 1982 from Queens, NYC. The Stray Cats came from out on Long Island in the Town of Massapequa. They were the needed jolt of real 50’s style rockabilly after years of disco. New Wave was great but the virtuosity of Stetzer’s Gretch guitar reminded everyone where all this rock music came from. Even the Beatles admired Eddie Cochran!
Watched the cats play at Sunderland Poly Wearmouth Hall Uk 1981, the place was packed, and lots of rockin’ and rollin’ went down that night. Great gigs by a great band,Man were have the years gone ;)

That was a super strange thing because they had a great time playing rockabilly in the 80s. It was fresh and sounded like they wouldve been as good or better than most bands from the 50's.

Brian Setzer. Stray Cats was the best rockabilly band of the 80s.

Back in the day, every girl I knew had a crush on Brian Setzer. To me he is one of the many underrated guitarists. He also has an excellent understanding of music.
Underrated? He has a range of signature Gretsch guitars and you don't get that if you aren't recognised.
@@azynkron Recognized by guitarists, but ask the average Joe or Jane who Brian Setzer is.

These guys were one of a kind. They completely broke the mold. Sound so good live.
The ‘Cats’ were an awesome group. And Setzer was/is a VERY underrated musician!! Great rockabilly sound!!
Setzer is a monster guitar player, very underrated indeed
What I love is the fact that they're laying it down and watching funk and R&B royalty totally bewildered with what they're seeing and hearing. Badass.

If Brian hadn't come into the spotlight, I'm thinking that Gretsch would've passed into the realm of, "Hey, do you remember..."
Absolutely, another player regularly rocking a Gretsch is Billy Duffy of The Cult. That sound just can't be duplicated.
