I had a 55 Indian Woodsman which was essentially, an imported Bullet with the Indian badge. My bike came from Baxter's and was restored by the person I bought it from here in Massachusetts. I ended up selling the old girl and shortly after was missing the Enfield. There was just something about the old bike I really enjoyed. Good news is, I recently acquired another Indian. This one is a 56 (late 55 build) Indian Tomahawk. Again, another rebadged Royal Enfield, essentially a 56 500 Twin over in the UK. I am so happy to have another Enfield in the stable. This one I will hang on to for a while. Great video!

Nice to hear you're back on a vintage RE. Just checked, Baxter Cycle has a 55 RE but it's the Tomahawk. Life is good!

@@forgottenmotorcycles Interesting that Baxter Cycles has a 55 Tomahawk. That is the same bike as mine. It is a very cool little bike.

Nice old bike, the British were so far ahead of every one for many years in motorcycles. They say these have good power and will run 80 plus....I love it.

Great bike and a great video as well. There is a time-tested procedure for starting a 4-stroke single. Look into that and you'll find the bike will start on the first kick. There are no shortcuts. You can't just kick away at it. You must be slightly over TDC on the compression stroke. That should do it. Good luck.

I’d like the old style frame, but it’s amazing how much the rest looks like my 2001. I wonder if those magneto’s are still available. They’re not better than a coil and distributor, but I think they’re cool.

I'm not sure how you'd add a mag. The original location is no longer available. Would be interesting if done. Wahoo!

      @@forgottenmotorcycles my 2001 engine/trans. Looks exactly like the 1957.

The tappet check on these was simplicity , just remove the tappet cover & when cold the pushrods should have zero up & down play but be able to spin freely, the adjuster & lock nut is on the pushrods if needed.
