No one shot a bullet for what seemed like a long time as we went down alleyways and through a hallway. Then out of nowhere bullets flew. It was so loud I immediately shat myself and dove for cover behind a barrier. With bullets flying overhead I had adrenalin pumping through me scared for my life. I didn't dare look over the barrier as I noticed my teammate has been killed. I waited as I heard foot steps getting close. I aimed to the side of the barrier waiting for him to show up. When I saw him I shot and missed pretty bad. I died pretty much immediately. Never before have I had an experience like that. I was hooked.

Pavlov gets its name from Sgt Yakov Pavlov, A Russian soldier who supposedly led a group of men during the battle of Stalingrad in WWII. They cleared out Nazi soldiers from a building and held it for 58 days, transforming it into a tactically valuable location. Though there is a lot of propaganda around it. Stuff like it was only 24 men who held the house from constant attacks, even though first hand accounts say there was 48 men minimum and after it they dug trenches for reinforcements. It became a proper garrison, with hundreds of men coming and going from the building, the propaganda also omitted the fact that they established an artillery site there. They had SERIOUS fire power, including LMG's, HMG's, Anti-Tank Rifles and Mortars. Pavlov himself was only really instrumental in the taking of the building too (which was renamed Pavlov's House) after that, others took over. Plus though it was a valuable tactical location for the Russians, it wasn't for the Nazis. They were busy with the main battle in the north. If they had actually wanted the building back, its very likely that they could have (at least early on). So yeah, basically the name comes from a soldier who was built up to be some legendary hero through propaganda. Though many of the veterans who were actually there want it to be renamed Naumov's House, as Cpt Naumov was the one actually in charge afterwards, leading the troops, inspiring them, suffering with them and fighting alongside them before being killed in action after they were ordered to take a different location, during which Pavlov was injured and left the battle. That's the 58th day, the day Pavlov left the battle, but the battle carried on and the house was still secured and used to attack from, it was actually held for 105 days before the Russians chose to abandon the house. So again, a lot of propaganda. The game was likely drawing its name from the mythos of the great hero Pavlov was made out to be, rather than the reality of being a junior officer who ambushed a bunch of relaxed Germans playing cards with a grenade, then taking a back seat for the rest of his time there before getting injured and leaving. But a lot of Russians still believe he was the commander during the entire battle and held the house from constant attack with just 24 scrappy soldiers. Quite the hero. But the reality is, his only real contribution was ambushing the enemy to take the building. Also you also actually meet Yakov Pavlov in the 2003 Call of Duty.

The self esteem = air from nose comment made me actually exhale from my nose.
Recently bought a Quest 2 and have been researching games. Just watched this review and found out you can play on friggin Terminal. I'm sold right there. Getting this as soon as I get home.

Air out of my nose? You got multiple full on chuckles my guy.
Ngl, the line that got me was "my self esteem is directly tied to the air coming out of your nose"
You didn't make air come out my nose but you did give my brain a nice place to lie down for a bit
Your videos are always pleasant, and often amusing. When you talked about the air coming out of my nose, the air came out of my nose.
…It would’ve been eerie if earlier you’d talked about the poop coming out of my butt, but nose air chatter was plenty good/not spooky.
"My self esteem is tied directly to the air coming out of your nose" caught me off guard and made me blow air out of my nose
I'd absolutely love an extended video of just clips like the intro! So good.

"Pavlov" is named like that after a house with the same name - during the Battle of Stalingrad, the house was used by a soviet squad commanded by sergeant Pavlov for defense, and they defended it for 58 straight days. I think the house can actually be seen in the main menu of the game. The video is as good as the game itself
Despite not performing a nasal exhale I thoroughly enjoyed your video. My thanks to you good sir.
the one true phrase to sum up gaming online... "braving the fever dream that is game chat"
air came out of my nose aggressively and now I want VR great video
Contractors does it so much better now
One of my best VR experiences ever was in Zero Caliber. Shooting someone 1v1 close range and missing everything, then both running out of ammo, then awkwardly trying to reload... its so slow when you have to actually do it XD
I love the quote "I am modern warfare 2" is just beautiful
Dude, you could be a stand up.... that ASAR for sociopaths was comedy gold.
„Pavlov’s menu is just a grey void”
*laughs in Pavlov Shack and it’s interesting menu graphics*
