    Ive made this recipe. Its excellent. I have used other addatives including dry mustard and chicken salt. Dry mustard was good.
    Also, using peanut oil makes a difference and doesnt pick up the fishiness and you can continue to use on other things like chicken.
    This is an excellent recipe. I did a cookout for a bday party for a lady who loves LJS, several people told me it was the best fish they've ver had.

    This is actually the best recipe for LJS or any other type of fried fish. We use this exact recipe in my Washington DC restaurant and have received awards for our product. I'll say I didn't get the receipt from this fine young lady but she is spot on. To round out a few things: Batter then let drip, fry for 3 to 4 minutes per side in 360 degree peanut oil, canola oil or Crisco (the best). Hit it with diamond crystal kosher salt right when it comes out.

    Do you really think this taste like Long John Silver chicken planks. Mine did not. I did not do this exactly like you, but did leave out the paprika spice and black pepper . I cooked it in new vegetable oil and it cooked perfect, but it has no flavor. Maybe Long John Silver season the precook chicken?

    • @AlyneWelcometomyKitchen
      @AlyneWelcometomyKitchen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fish and shrimp taste better than theirs to me. I haven't tried it on the chicken. I always preseason the chicken when I cook it other ways, so I would think preseasoning before using this batter would make it taste better.

    I know it doesn't have onion powder or salt in it, because I hate onion with a passion and I can detect onions or onion powder or salt a mile away. I can taste paprika in just about everything and I really don't think that's in there either. A friend that worked there yrs back said, the batter came in in a bag and they added purified water to it, mixed it and dipped the fish and chicken into it which was frozen. I've not seen any sugar in any recipes either. 🤔

      It says Copycat recipe NOT their exact recipe. I can tell you from having eaten at Long John Silvers for around 45 years that this batter has the texture and taste of what I remember. I am NOT claiming this to be EXACTLY how theirs is made, only a copycat that others can use if they choose to.
