Here's a closer look at a surprisingly well made Johnny 5 figure that I got from China.
The original ebay seller is no longer listing these so I'm not sure where they might be available.
It's a bird. It's a fly. It's airplane.
Johnny: it's my eyebrows.
Just imagine the guy who didn't see the merchandising opportunities with johnny 5... like if the creator/movie studio held out... all the need to do is look at something like star wars to see the power of merchandising.
Not all popular films equal popular toylines.

The reason why it fits both way, is because 1 position is for when he is not using the tool box or laser, it sits facing up and when he uses it or arms it, then it sets pointing forward
As a kid I always wanted to have 5 of them with real laser and playing the first scene where they destroyed the jeeps and tanks. And another one for hitting it with a lightning. I thought that really works and He becomes alive. I was very small when i thought that
at 6:58 surely somebody has answered by now but that is the gizmo that in the second movie he was able to solder etc... with. It is basically like an auxiliary arm for tools etc...
Also, in the first one where he goes off the bridge and parachutes.

needs those butterfly flap covers for the eyes. the center console needs the long flat look to it. looks to curvy at the base.
Not bad, although the perfectionist in me can't help noticing a couple things that would have made it even better. For one, Johnny 5 did have an exposed cable going from his body to his head, but not one down his back. They could have run the wires down through his body. Not only would it have looked better, it would keep them from getting caught on anything. And they missed a perfect opportunity to add a nice touch for the fans by not putting the on/off switch under the cover on the front of his body. Having the panel open like it does in the movie might have been too difficult for a toy, but they could have made it a simple hinged door, hiding a red pushbutton. Add a piece of transparent plastic with some details printed on it and an LED behind it, and you could have a reasonable approximation of the movie's power on/off sequence.

I believe that thing you pulled out towards the end is the hydraulic that raises and lowers his body. It's not supposed to move, but it does because it's a kit
Youre right, that is the lower erector hydraulic.
I have one of these as a kit, without the electronics, and I have to say the fabrication was atrocious. His arms are too small for the shoulders so they split, one side of his 'waist' is bigger than the other.. and that damn trailer wheel is just entirely wrong. Its supposed to be a trailing wheel, so the wheel is positioned behind the upright like the wheels on a shopping cart. Not stuck right on the bottom like this one is. Watch the video again and see how many times that wheel is just sideways when the figure moves about.

@@Foulfellow damn i didnt realise the cost. not to mention buying the farmland which would then be used to breed said cows on, the machinery involved then to cultivate the soil and so on and so fourth. also then applying for various licences to slaughter animals and dispose of farm waste and slurry.
i mean we just got through a pandemic as well, i am surprised johnny 5 hasnt got his shares bought by elon musk at this point.

It kinda looks like those movie based toys from the 1980's that were supposed to be the character but weren't very accurate.

I just hadnt mounted them. I have a punk version as well.

They were impossible to attach so they got left in the box. :(

Superb video. I just bought a Dobi F8 robot from RCMoment, and Dobi is made by WLtoys. But your little Johnny5 robot is very enticing! I'll buy one of those also.
My favorite robot I would to see mass marketed is Chappie radio controlled !!!

It was purchased through eBay but the seller is long gone so Im not sure where to find this now. :(
I bought the Same one from eBay but got the one that needed to be assembled. Got half way and had broken motor. eBay seller sent me all new motors and all have been sitting in a box for years now. Thinking it’s time to build it. Wanna say it was around $50 bucks. Great buy.

You can’t actually put the toolbox on without the laser mount. The peg is too big

It looks so cheap and unstable, if it tips over to the side it will break straight away.

he got it from wantedmall , they are out of the preassembled kits you will have to build it yourself
