Thank you for sharing your everyday life and travel videos. Very interesting and informative too. Helps people like me who plan to visit Thailand for the first time in October. Mom, may you rest in peace! I lived with Mom and took care of her from the time I was 20 years old coming back from military service until she passed, a few weeks away from 101 years old in December 2015, a total of 45 years. In the Chinese culture I was raised in, considered it an inherent obligation. It was my Mom's wish not to live with anyone else or but put in a nursing home. I honored her wishes and showed my Mom appreciation by assuming all financial obligations concerning her; taking her with the family on all outings and vacations. My children loved her immensely and appreciated the life lessons she passed down to them. I was the 3rd of 5 children born to immigrant parents from China. The hair color suits Kara. She is doing fine. As I have said previously, you are a good and dutiful son. You must have been Chinese in a former life. Hahahahahahahaha! You speak the truth; we as children need to be responsible for our parents as they get older in life. You are 100% correct; people do overthink, and life is too short! Pretty philosophical of you Chuck. Appreciate all your thoughts and opinions as it relates to certain things and life in general. Let's get back to the basics and consider what is truly important. Live your life to the best of your ability! Going to end my "rant" before I run out of space or energy, whichever comes first. Wishes for you and the family to stay healthy and be safe!
The ONLY thing that I do not understand is: Why are you justifying and explaining yourself to someone who obviously is not paying attention to your videos, who cannot at least make suggestions in a resectful manner. I believe anyone who watches your videos knows the steps you have taken to help your mother be comfortable and successful in this new environment, and also knows she has expressed her appreciation and happiness with this change.
You have proven time and again that you care for your mother, your wife, your inlaws, and your viewers. Please don't let the TROLLS get you down! :)

Just wanted you to know that my husband & I really enjoy your videos. There a lot of videos out there that are definitely click bait but yours are not at all.
Sometimes trying to figure out what is best for our parents is not an easy task. My Mom broke her hip but was older & a lot less mobile. She wanted to stay in her home so together we figured out a way to do that. All we can do is try to help them have a good life & you are doing that for your Mom. And you’re so right, social media is too easy for people to sit at their keyboards & harass since it’s not face to face. Keep up the good work!

Some of the older generation like to keep abreast of what has been a big part of their past lives whilst initiating a new pathway. I understand Kara being cautiously optimistic with her new path in Thailand but above all she knows she has the backing of Chuck n Paige to help and watch out for her so in 12 months time we will see a different lady doing wonderful things. I'm confused, I personally follow your channel because I see you as a regular guy,I admire that you worked hard and retired early living your life as you want. I also relate to the fact you love Thailand and it's culture as I do. Yes I live in Jomtein but I'm not here as a monger,no bars or bar girls for me. Right before my dad got sick. I signed him up to go to the senior center for a couple hours twice a week. I bought him a new shirt and pants. I even was able to arrange transportation provided by them. I felt like he needed some friends his age. He didn't want to go and wanted nothing to do with it. I had to go with his wishes. He was fine hanging out with us. You can't make anyone do something they don't want to do.

I also have that chuck on my other channel. some people are stuck in their square of a perfect world. They say what they want to see and what you or I should do. Unfortunately for them, you decide what is best for your mother. I get so many negative reactions, for example, you should give your girlfriend more attention, etc. But they don't know whether their way of thinking is limited by the fact that the camera is regularly turned off, so they don't see everything. You keep it real, with a dose of everything else thrown in.......it is what it is, your channel, good, bad, and sometimes ugly. Keep doing what makes you happy with TH-cam, you really do let so many get under your skin. Your family situation I am sure can be a struggle, but you are doing what makes things work. Your mom is doing fine. It is unfortunate that she does not have a friend to socialize with when she wants, but that can be a problem, usually female friends are together all the time, but your mom does like her space so friends like that are difficult to come by. Keep it real.......nothing wrong with keeping it real. Do you.

Chuck, I know I have said it before, but the treadmill will help your mom as much as anything out there. It has done wonders for my hip after surgery. I was so excited to see your mom realize that walking on the treadmill will help her improve her walking. The constant movement of the belt forces you to keep a steady pace. That is exactly what she needs. I hope she will keep it up.

Hi. In case you don’t know, Centara have a good free member card program. Discount rates on accommodation and hotel food that might be worth looking into if you think that Mum will stay there again.
Also when I stayed at Centara Udon it had one of the best buffet breakfasts that I have had in Thailand. Not sure if it’s still as good. Have you tried it recently?

I've been off watching the news for many years, I got sucked back in over COVID but managed to wean myself off of it again. It's all sadness and death which is not good for you and actually can give you a form of PTSD if you consume too much of it. The COVID news reporting definitely messed with my head.

But it does seems some countries are a bit higher on the J, and people actually worry "what would others think" (God Forbid, that became the norm)/ We all walk the path of life, the journey, and most of us are seeking the right path (for us anyway) so, keep going!

I have a couple other channels I follow, and the content creators absolutely DO NOT respond to the subscribers...I see what people post on their channels and see at times what people post on yours. It's unfortunate sometimes but it's how people relate online at times. Not trying to be a kiss azz, but love your channel and appreciate the time and effort you put into it to create entertaining content. I'm sure it gets frustrating at times but do your thing...there are many that see what you do and appreciate you and Paige.

I'm a fixer as well. A good friend had a bad time, and didn't contact me. I was hurt. He said he needed someone who would give him the time to talk. Someone who would just listen, get into the sht with him and that wasn't me. I'm trying to change.

I always tell people never listen to or read opinion news they’re not journalists. it’s just the opinion of the bias of that station or paper. And definitely never listen to social media.
That’s where the biggest grifters are. I always tell people read a newspaper stay out OP-ED section. I also turned off the news a couple years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. I Read the newspaper once in a while now.

Chuck it’s not just the internet, devisive politics, “reality” shows, out spoken influencers and the I am important and all my feelings need to be validated generation, means that a lot of people have removed their filters and believe they can say anything.
I’m a longtime subscriber from back in the days that you were traveling in your travel trailer in your truck seeing the United States that’s what I wanted to do so it interest me and I watched. Then you went to Thailand that interest me as a place where I might retire as being retired in the states, I can’t afford to live here. I have brothers and sisters who are in the same state, but they make it between spouses and children. I am a bachelor and I only have me I found out it was too expensive to move to Thailand for full residence as well as Vietnam and Malaysia, but I found out that I can’t afford to move to the Philippines English is the second language so I don’t have to learn a new language. I do understand when you say your mom doesn’t know what to do to move forward. I’m kind of stuck sometimes and just sometimes need a little push. There’s an agency that just found out that will help me to get what necessary papers and government stuff done, so I don’t have to suffer any of that again I only have my Social Security and a small savings and that’s it. I’ve been researching health insurance over there what I need to do and have again. I am 68 with learning difficulties. I am ADD ADHD and I’m slightly touched with autism and my plans is to move there for a better life for me instead of being on the streets here homeless again enjoy your videos. I like every day life and see just around the corner for you and yours take care until the next video.

Absolutely your mom made a good choice in living in Thailand - if she were to stay in the USA she eventually would end up in a low class nursing home - in Thailand she can eventually afford 24/7 care - I do hope she can get out and do more things if she wants to. Hope the new mall will give her something to do.
As an example my mother made the choice to move into a retirement home at 73 she paid 150k to move in and now pays 67k a year its been 20+ years and it was a great choice for her - I will never be able to afford this - this is a major reason for me moving to Asia

I have decided to deviate from the usual tourist / youtuber itinerary and spend an entire week on a distant farm in Phetchabun. You know the real Thai experience. It's time to do something completely different. I'll let you know how it goes.
