I felt like this too when I went to the university. I connected with a couple of people so I was not all alone, but it was three years of alone time pretty much anyways, because we didn't connect on that deep level like my friends and I did at home. In sweden we don't have clubs or sororities to try to get in to. We have one club for each major and anyone is allowed to join taking that major and you pay about 50 dollar to parttake in all the activities through the year that the club arranges. So the "rush" time is just pretty much getting to know people in the same major. It isn't very popular eather to join the clubs so it will be like 50 people in one club. You don't live together eather like I heard you do in the US sometimes. I understand that it can be hard it was for me too. ❤️
I’m just finished my 2nd week of college and this is EXACTLY how I’m feeling right now, it’s hard not having a close friend group and having to put way more effort into being social but it feels good to hear other people are feeling the same way right now
As someone who's moved a lot it just takes a bit of time to get used to stuff. One of my teachers told me that the human brain is really good at normalizing things which is honestly so true.
Omg I’m a freshman from hong kong and I relate to this so much😭😭 it’s so hard to get close to people cuz u only see them a few times a week, compared to high school when u were with your friends almost all the time😭 It feels so lonely, but I’m sure we’ll get through this soon!!😊

I never had a group of friends since kindergarten or something like that in high school but I did end up in a group I felt comfortable with BUT WTH WHEN DID I FORGET HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH PPL yeaaaah I’m sort of scared that I’ll end up relatively alone for the whole 3 years So I guess here is another proof that we’re all lonely af in college
Master degree student, I'm literally a nobody at school. During some events I was someone like I gave a speach at the european parliament or whatever and participated in a national championship with a club but Im not part of it. And its like I didnt make any close friends in more than 3 years there. And yknow what? I dont really care, I didnt try actually. My parents are like 3k500 km away from me but I take the plane at least 10 times a year to see them. And I have my friends from highschool, never lost them and Im still seeing them. But yeah well sometime youd feel pretty alone and kinda different from them. Like clearly social background all that shit plus being an immigrant child (which is not common at all in my school) well I was raised really differently from them and I have nothing in common, plus i dont have the same interests at all. So yeah I stettled with being by myself for those college years but yknow college for me is just a tool, a mean to get the job and the position I want. There shouldnt be this pressure about making your college life a fairytale full of fun and yolo stuff. Thats fiction. You can just go though the whole experience at your own pace. Even if people seem like they already found their circle and all that you just dont need to, at least no need to rush into it. Just do whatever you wanna do, dont ever force yourself just to get accepted or whatever cause in the end that wont bring happiness either and thats just too much effort.
Hang in there... Relationships take time and you only just got there. Now is a good time to be nicer to yourself by setting more reasonable challenges for yourself. You're amazing but it's okay to give stuff time to develop.
Any possibility that you can start a social rhythmic gymnastics club. All the schools that I have worked with encourage students to start their own clubs in your kind of situation.
