I had a crush on her when I was a teenager and still do at 72.
First heard her sing ""Downtown" in French in Junior High School.
Recently she got together with Tony Hatch and made extended versions of several of her songs including "Downtown".
May she continue performing as long as she is willing and able.
She is a British treasure who will leave a wonderful Legacy.

Would it be possible to upload the David Ackles special to a separate service for posterity? It's a shame the Estate seems intent on not allowing his music to reach a new audience, what with the shelved anthology and now this.
I don't know what his Estate's intentions are, or about an anthology, but I assume they are aiming to get a reissue campaign going sometime. Hopefully it's actually in planning. I can imagine a record co saying it's difficult to sell a documentary or DVD, say, if people can see it for free on YT. Most people involved in any rare, obscure video I've uploaded usually are very grateful to have it available. As that's not the case here - I've had my first ever 'copyright strike' - I don't want to go against their wishes by uploading it elsewhere. I just wish them success in their own attempts to bring David Ackles back to the public.
@@GazelyGaze True enough, not to be too harsh after all it is their right. The anthology I refer to was one from Elektra ("There Is A River" being the title, I believe) set to release a decade back or so but was blocked by his estate... At least that's what I had heard, probably hearsay. I suppose I just dislike valuable material languishing in vaults somewhere. Here's hoping they have plans in mind, of so many artists to get retrospective boxes etc. he is among the most deserving in the exposure it would garner imho
@@epizootics Good luck to them. If it's true an anthology was blocked by the estate, I hope they have firm plans. Sometimes the emotional ties an Estate has don't help business judgement. They'll want him to be repromoted with an enormous media campaign, which perhaps isn't realistic. Hopefully they've got people with financial muscle and influence like Elton John, E. Costello on board to assist, then something might happen.
@@GazelyGaze Yep. Andy Zax who helped put it together recently said it was the biggest heartbreak of his career; Costello penned liner notes and promo CDs had already been sent out... All I'm saying is, if they do put something out like that I'll be there to pre-order it. Don't mean to drag out this conversation as there's not much we can do but speculate-- all the best and again here's hoping!
@@epizootics Wow; that does seem weird; I thought you just heard of a vague plan that didn't materialise. I see the predictable result was it being bootlegged. Maybe Mrs Ackles is agonising over doing the best for David but can't decide. Or else there's an unresolved dispute. Probably best that the professionals and the fans do the work, but as you say we can only speculate the reasons behind it. We can only wait.
Knappe zangprestatie, maar ik vind (al dan niet terecht) dat de muzikale begeleiding bedroevend "armtierig" is.... alle liedjes kunnen toch met een veel rijker arrangement worden gebracht door enkele muziekinstrumenten erbij... of vergis ik me? Het verschil met de vinyl-opnames is och enorm... dit vind ik zo'n getalenteerde zangeres onwaardig.... of vergis ik me? Zielig & jammer....
