@@TheRealCoryKentshe was trying to hold back her hurt, she almost let it out, her voice cracked a little, it's very hard to sing when you are hurting, you can bet she cried her eyes out that night, but her voice was very beautiful & moving, I couldn't have done it, Karen died not long after our baby girl turned 1 year old
Karen was a angel sent to all of us here her voice was and still is beautiful Petula did a magnificent job for the tribute to her. Karen you and your voice will never be forgotten Thank you sweet angel R.I.P Karen ❤️❤️
The lyrics "we’ve got a lifetime to share” and “let's take a lifetime to say I knew you well" are tremendously haunting because unfortunately Karen's lifetime was so tragically brief. And you can tell Petula felt the deeply sad irony in those words as she sang them. And that "goodnight Karen" was utterly devastating!!
Oh my God, that was Beautiful... Karen was special & this world is too difficult/dangerous to be special in. God Bless In Christ Yeshua 🙏✝️🙏 & Thank you Petula Clark Beautiful Lady, Spirit & soul🙏
How anyone can keep a dry eye watching and listening to this -- most of all, how Petula got through it to the end -- I don't know! Such a moving, beautiful, heartfelt performance from a wonderful singer to a fellow superstar. Brava!!
I am balling my eyes out again and again. From one amazing angelic voice dedicated to another one an angel no longer with us. How you got thru this God only knows but thank you dear lady for this loving tribute. And love may grow for all we know....
We in the audience sometimes think great music stars are always there competing with each other to win greater fame, trophy awards, fans and wealth. But now we know that music superstars form great bonds of love and friendships too like ordinary human beings.
What a sweet, loving dedication. Petula is such a professional, not anyone could get thru that performance. You can see and feel the love she had for Karen.........just beautiful!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
That's what makes this especially moving. If it had been in the 90s, it would have been nice, but it wouldn't have had the same impact. This was literally two days after Karen died.
You can just tell they were very close friends and she absolutely adorn Karen Carpenter's and forever her memories lived on in her heart I am very sorry we lost Karen but this tribute was very exceptionally beautiful and elegant in her honor thanks Petula
How beautiful. I have no idea how she got through this song, but it was a perfect tribute. "We'll meet again, for all we know.......Goodnight, Karen". TEARS.

@Daniel Stetson The tribute to Karen was the last of her encores but not shown on the BBC TV broadcasts in the U.K. in 1983 but I believe was shown on some foreign broadcasts

I must admit I didn't expect this to be as powerful and jaw dropping as what it was. I was a bit hesitant because sometimes cover versions of songs like this are, at worst, not very good. This was stunning. You could have heard a pin drop and that deserved a standing ovation.
I had a lot of records of Petula Clark and Karen Carpenter. They melted when I went away to college. This is the first I have heard of this tribute. Thanks.....
Talk about grace, dignity and class, and all full of true heart and heartfelt. Petula resembles Florence Henderson so much here. RIP dear Karen, dear friend. We'll always remember you, and never forget you. May God bless you 🙏 💜🙏
Both heartwarming & heartbreaking. I knew when Petula hit those chords on the piano @2:50 she was going to lose it. A great tribute by a great artist to another great artist.
