This is just beyond wonderful 😊, Dean had a special chemistry with the multi talented Petula who God bless her is still with us and they performed so well together ❤. But then he always responded to great talent like hers by giving extra of his own special talent. I Don't Know Why is sung in his best ballad style the medley is beautiful and they even made the horse look good! Thanks so much for posting this gem from the archives 👌
Thank you so very much Stuart for the wonderful comment and I agree with what you say. Petula and Dean were so unbelievably well matched. Pity that they didn't record a album together.
Dean was something else. I often wonder if he was completely comfortable with his talent. It must be kind of trippy to just be a person and yet when you open your mouth a sound comes out that just seems so effortless and yet sounds unbelievably amazing! Of course he was a good actor as well. But the singing thing, there's just no one that can compare
All the musical numbers on The Dean Martin Show are priceless gems. Duets, piano songs, couch songs, songs with the Golddigger's, all of the songs are part of television history. Dean Martin sang all the best ballads. The great American song book. Great country and western tunes. Dean Martin singing with Les Brown and orchestra. Ken Lane at Dean's piano. All of the regulars in the cast. All great comedians. All the dance numbers. All the guests were top notch talents in all aspects of show business. Young and older singers. Guests from other countries. Young and older guests. Sweet child stars. Great comedians. Great dramatic actors. The who's who of entertainment were guests on The Dean Martin Show. Everyone wanted to be on stage next to the great Dean Martin. Can anyone imagine a television show like this on network TV today? On any channel at all? The chances are 0% of that. The 264 episodes of The Dean Martin Shows are slowly trickling out, often cut, some complete. I want all 264 episodes full length, uncut and fully restored to the best picture and sound quality that's possible. Dolby sound quality. Released in groups or as a complete set. On professionally made blue ray discs with proper cases and artwork. NBC Universal and Greg Garrison Productions and The Dean Martin Family Trust along with The Dean Martin Association and The Dean Martin Fan Center could all work together on this project. Getting all the legal red-tape smoothly worked out would be the hardest part of it all. But it needs to be done. It needs to be done now. While us original Dean Martin Fans are still here to enjoy it all. Thumbs up from anyone who agrees!
Well said! In this day of streaming, they could easily fit, if the money doesn't want to be wasted on blu-ray/DVD production costs etc. However, we feel that these not appearing anywhere in full is a rights issue. The clearance is very likely a minefield what with all the innumerable guest stars and songs. Perhaps however the recent TCM documentary and PBS running the Christmas edition of the show will trigger something. We at the DMA always pushed Dino to allow commercial release of the shows but he simply wasn't interested. There was a point when he didn't even want his Reprise material to be made available anymore. Luckily however The Dean Martin Family Trust thought otherwise with giving Capitol the opportunity to release them in full (we were beginning to officially release all his Reprise material in 1996 through Charly Records until the Trust then opted to go with Capitol instead in 2001). As for the TV shows...we can only hope.
@@deanmartinassociation Yes, I remember the Charly Records green book with the Dean Martin Reprise discs inside. I bought it the minute I laid my eyes on it. Hell, I bought a stack of Dean Martin albums from the DMA as soon as I got your sales pages in the mail. I was in 7th heaven seeing all of those albums that I didn't have in my collection. Music For Pleasure label, Capitol EMI also I believe. They were "imports" to me since I am in the United States. But it doesn't matter to Dean Martin fans if you have those same song versions on other albums, you still want them again, to have the new album photo and the new liner notes. I still have the packaging with the British stamps on it that all those albums were shipped to me in. The best times of my life were spent traveling state to state during the summer months going to record conventions looking for Dean Martin albums. I'd walk in anywhere and I'd always here someone yell "Get out your Dean Martin albums everyone" LOL Are you familiar with the 4 box sets of Dean Martin from Bear Family Records in Germany? I'm sure you are. I was one of the first customers to order each of those box sets as they became available. I thought I was going to have a heart attack opening each of those sets, looking through those booklets. I don't allow anyone to touch my Dean Martin collection. It's a house rule with me. LOL I got on your site the other evening. Over the years I had kinda lost track of you guys. For a while I assumed that you had went out of business or closed the Association, or something. To be honest, I was really expecting to see a bunch of Dean Martin albums or CD's on your site that I'd want to order. And I promise, I would have given you my business again. Gladly! I was happy to see your TH-cam posts. I watch them. I enjoy them very much. I will be checking back on your site from time to time, for sure. You guys are good people! And as you said about the television shows, we can only hope. Thank you for answering back! Stay safe and healthy. God bless
@@JayH7745 thank you so much for your incredibly kind words. It's great to be touch with those who supported us in our heyday. It's always good hear great music from talented people, but I truly laughed so hard when I seen the scene with Dean trying to get on the horse. I wonder what the horse must of thought. 😂💗

Petula Clark remarked that her appearance on the Dean Martin Show was fraught with tension and stress mostly caused by the fact that Dean never showed up for even one rehearsal. Dean showed up only on the day of the taping before the audience. Because Dean did not rehearse, Clark states that there were idiot cue cards plastered all over the place to tell Dean where and how to move and of course the lyrics to the songs were also on idiot cards. Clark later found out that Dean had it written into his contract that he would not show up for rehearsals and only show for the one day of the show's taping. Dean most often was playing golf. Dean got away with not rehearsing by making it seem as though his fumbling and uncertainty as to what came next in the script was part of the act.... a layback drinker who likes golf.
It is such a shame that they're not commercially available apart from the butchered Time Life editions. The rights, we believe, sit with The Dean Martin Family Trust not NBC as they were produced by Sasha-Garrison, Sasha being Dino's production company and Garrison being Greg Garrison's of course. Even DVDs of his movies are scarce or deleted or some never even commercially released. It really is a terrible shame. Bernard, who set up the DMA with Dino, was always pushing the movie studios as well as Dino himself to get all this wonderful material out, but to no avail. There was even a time when Dino was never interested in even having his Reprise recordings re-released. Luckily though the Trust did eventually allow all those to be put out again. But yes, the TV shows, remastered and cleaned up, would be so lovely to have commercially: the pinnacle of his career certainly.
There were other variety shows much better than Dean Martin's. Dean never rehearsed for his shows as written into his contract which explains his fumbling and uncertainty of the script at times. HIs guests are what made the show although Dean would occasionally surprise with a few good tunes that suited him.
He's got a fascinating voice and hers is so silky too. Perfect!

Agreed! He also could impersonate Clark gable better than anyone. Wish I could find a video of it.

What do we have to do to get more Dean Martin Variety show episodes released? So little on DVD. Is it truly lost to time?

Absolutely absurb segment, but it worked, luckely for the horse to stay in place for the number.
Gb? Isn't that a lot like F#?
Yep, think so.
