- Today Nick's KeepingFishSimple Shop opened here in Brisbane! This is not just any aquarium store. Nick began breeding aquarium fish at a young age and has managed to turn his passion into a living through his TH-cam channel, fish breeding, and now a store. What he has created is absolutely astounding and is a huge accomplishment. I was lucky enough to have Nick show me out the back to have a look at the areas for breeding, quarantining and growing out aquarium fish!

@@CharlesLales Australia is so lucky compared to my country, the Philippines, in terms of species availability. In particular, German Blue Rams are very hard to find here in my country and I would love to buy GBRs 🥲

@@CharlesLales I have different kinds of tropical fish in my 30 gallons tank but most of them are tetras. Rams specifically are very hard to find here in the Philippines since Rams are not that popular as a commercial pet fish here in our country. Philippines and Australia were very close to each other like only 5-8 hours of travel by airplane and the Philippines is also close to main producers of Rams like China and Thailand but still the supply of Rams here is very low
Love that he puts "locally bred" on the tags. Thats the kind of information I'd love to have in my local fish shops

Thanks, Kaity. Great fun! Nick often talks about quarantining guppies and treating them for worms and parasites, but I don't think he ever mentioned what he uses . . . until now. Tell him "Thanks" for me. I watched his build-out videos putting his shop together. It's really turned out amazing! I'd love to see it, but it's kind of a bit of a jaunt from Southern California. Maybe some day. Thanks for the tour.

Very cool looking shop. I travel 2 1/2hrs (one way) to pickup fish in a good shop.
Yes it makes a big difference and is totally worth the extra travel time I think
I came up to check out the store yesterday, glad to see the place so busy already and KFS getting some love! Wont be going to any other place for my aquatic friends, sick of buying sick fish!!! So good having that peace of mind that the stock is as healthy as you can possibly get them. Much love Nick and the rest of the KFS team 🥰

Well if you ever visit Australia you know where to find us! There is the Melbourne Underwater Expo coming up here in Australia soon which there are a lot of Aussie TH-camrs going to. I would love to have been able to go this year but can't make it. So maybe next year!

Another point, L333 is really not such complicated to breed you know. Simply provide good water quality, well oxygenated, with stream, caves are important, a decent group, and also good food. Then you'll get fry. Have you checked my tanks? I do have under the Discus one a growing extension plugged to same life support system. There L333 and L201 are quite regularly brought. I am waiting for L46 and especially L236 SW RB line to breed as well at one point. For food here in Germany: EBO Aquaristik. But in Australia I saw other brands, more made in US and Asia..
Your new tank will be discus at one point? Or are you doing aquascaping? I would suggest you a nature-scaping, mix biotope and aquascaping, but Australia oriented! Would fit with rainbow fishes you just bought ;-)

in case you're interested, the rainbows are all males
M/red fins F/yellow fins (get females either way so male colors enhance showing off to them yellow finned chikas

Hey Kaity! Hope you are doing good. I am noticing many hobbiest slowly moving towards marine/ reef set up. Starting with a small 1ftx1ftx1ft size.
Mostly in next 3-5 years we might get to see marine tanks with par to fr3sh water tanks. Maybe ypu should plan on getting one 😀
Maybe one day in the future! I have had some saltwater setups before but it has never really stuck for me for some reason. I have been seeing some of the nano bowl reef setups recently though and I really love them

It is technically a "reef tank" but I'll be setting it up as freshwater

Hello! I'm actually not too sure but I would say your estimate is about right 🤔 If you have a look at Nick's channel he has heaps of videos on putting the fish room together and I think he mentions more about the tanks in them

Can you pour straight up rain water in an aquarium?
I think it would depend on the pH of the rain water. I'm probably not the best person to answer this though
I've lived and worked in Germany and also had African haps while I was there this shop is top notch the only thing is the Germans love there stainless racks
