All versions that I know of are all compared to hers.
Amen to that!!❤
I'm in my late 60s, and sang this when was in church and the school choir all thru grade school, high school and college, and I gotta admit that I never heard the opening lines of the song till now. I'm gobsmacked! Once again I think, with a voice like that no wonder she was my grandfather's favorite singer😊

The military should have more influence in civilian matters it would help society today
@@Based_locationThat would be called Martial Law...Cuba, Middle East and China ALL have a military in civilian life!
The ironic part is that our military has done nothing for American freedom since WW2. Fighting proxy wars across the globe against ideas, not even real enemies. What a joke.

Yes...something terrible has been growing quietly and unknown in the shadows for sixty years now. Red, murderous, mindless Marxism has made its bid to destroy the western world. People, our own citizens and foreign influencers who have been disguised as mild mannered well meaning socialists; just to the left of center, have made their grasp for power. Covid was an intentional attack, millions of American people have died. Murderous unruly mobs, the paid agents of our enemies stalk the land and thousands of businesses have been burnt but very little gets into the media because the network of traitors is vast. The next 10 to 15 years will decide....be strong people..
Thank you for what you said !!! You are right only God can save us ❤
1943: Kate had originally recorded this for Victor in 1939. Irving Berlin retooled it for the movie and the Warner studio orchestra and chorus backed her so well. America and the Allies needed this after taking a shellacking in the first year of the war. But the tide was about to turn, and morale-boosters like this one helped the Allies to eventual victory.

God, family, country. They were paramount during the war. Today they are a faded memory. The greatest generation ever. One we will never see again. Truly sad. I pray God's mercy and cry each time Kate Smith sings this song. Ah the good ole days. Gone but not forgotten. GOD BLESS AMERICA! She needs it now more than ever!!
When "the greatest generation" came home from war, they no longer had time for church and God. Hippies came from them and people have progressively left God out and gotten worse. Until they come back, there is no hope for help.

It reminds me of all the people that gave their lives for our God and country. I can never stop loving either one of them. I always keep praying that He'll deliver us all from evil. It's just so hard to be patient, even when we remind ourselves that we must be. God is still here. He never left. Jesus said it himself, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." This song is more than a solumn prayer. It should serve as a reminder that God still stands with his children in America and beyond. Help of the helpless, He who changes not, through cloud and sunshine, in life and in death. I hear this song and suddenly I feel humbled, happy, sad yet in the end, revigorated. A reminder that no matter how far we have fallen, there's still work to be done in His name. He's still here. That, to me, is enough to pick us all back up. Thank you for your service to our country as well as those of your two friends. The Lord Bless you and keep you all sir. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

They should play this to all politicians- let them remember what America used to be, and let’s not forget schools.
Special song. Special Kate, special time
I've forgotten a lot of what I learned in elementary school... but perfectly remembered the lyrics of this, and to -> God Bless America... America the Beautiful... My Country Tis of Thee... and both parts of the Star Spangled Banner. I don't know if schools even teach these anymore. Personally, I don't think you could find 1 out of 20 members of Congress who know the words to even ONE... I'd bet that neither Presidential candidates know any of the lyrics to these.
Especially the schools. The children are hearing way too much garbage and hate.
I came o the US in 1965. After 14 years went back to visit the family. Loved spending time there. But things had changed.

Great patriotic song of America sung by Kate Smith!!!
My mom and her family use to listen to Kate Smith on the radio back in the 30s or forties. What a wonderful voice.
Fun fact: the Philadelphia Flyers NHL team actually had Kate Smith sing God Bless America at some of the most important games in the season for a few years. The reason they did this was because almost every time that she sang, they won so they considered her singing a good luck charm. They even had her sing in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1974 and 1975, both of which the Flyers would win
The Broad Street Bullies. Sixth grade, most of us cut school to go to the celebration on Broad Street. Such fun memories.
And the Flyers ended up "honoring" her memory by removing the statue dedicated to her.
So bad they took her statue down. Screw the flyers
The statue was taken down by different team owners (Comcast/NBC). I'm glad I experienced the best of times and have the happy memories of the '74 team.
