Penelope’s entrance is beyond breathtaking! Netflix has given us so many chances to see the behind scenes and especially of how this dress was made and the stunt when Cressida rips it! The costumes this season are incredible 👏👏👏 I love 🥰 their imagination and what they have created for every actor! Penelope’s transformation of gowns … yes 🙌 I was so excited for her 🥰🥰👑👑 only the actor Nicola in my own personal opinion could have played Penelope! 💜💜 I can’t imagine a world where anyone else is playing this part! Actually I’m so in awe of all the cast that everyone is portraying exactly who they should be playing ! A big shout out to the casting department 👏👏👏👏👏

I just noticed that. He was so supportive. It wasn’t in a perverted way, but a proud brother. LOVE him!
This was fantastic introduction to her wardrobe change in season 3. Penelope was forced to wear citrus colors most of the time; she can pull of lighter yellows easily, but in the balls, she was often forced to choose bolder tones of it which clash with the red in her hair. When she herself could choose, she preferred light yellow, light green and innocent pink, likely her favorite.
It is still one of her older dresses and we can see Featherington influence all over it. The color is bold and almost feels out of place in the ball, so while she catches the attention, she is also more vulnerable to the possible ridicule. Darker tones are mature, but also melancholy. She never wore dress so dark, even her mourning dress was lighter. With the theme of the ball, she mostly resembles autumn, whih symbolizes both maturity, but also tiredness, and perhaps nostalgia and sadness. Her entrance is glorious one, but it turns sour very quickly. She resembles peacock, her look shouts she wants to be seen... and judged.
We see the hair change even back in season 2, when she pulled her hair back and curled it. The closest to this look was probably during Anthony's wedding, or at the end of season 2. Loose hair symbolize freedom, but with it being on the side, we can also catch a theme of her "being half-seen, half-hidden".
Kinda wished they made this moment have a ripple effect in the ton. It could show pen having a positive influence on the ton without being ignored or straight up abused as she typically was for once.
Her being bold and wearing a jewel tone dark dress in 1815 French in vogue fashions, maybe at the next events some other ladies follow her lead and also begin wearing French silhouettes.
I’m shocked not many debutants approached her and asked about her new style and hair.
I suppose it’s intentional because the scene highlights how pen hasn’t done any inner work and her changing her style can only do so much for her confidence.
I felt that as well. Her entrance sure caused people to look, but at the same time, it didn't have a huge impact. She still was just Penelope. But the second half she is going to get the attention she wanted but is it going to be too much.
