Tamana HS Band continues to produce outstanding musicians. I do not know these young women, but I am, if allowed, very proud of them and readily share the terrific music they have worked so hard to make look easy. So much more I could say, I would be repeating the accolades. They are deserving of all the wonderful comments that are made about them both in the USA and at home in Japan. Maybe one day I will get to see a live performance. Thank you and God bless you all.

These kids never fail to entertain. They are superb musicians, even at such young ages!
And notice how, in the Japanese tradition, the band is driven almost solely by the students themselves. They play at the professional level despite being mere high school kids. 16-18 years old, going on 30!
And for the record, Ayane is an absolute doll. She returns home to Japan speaking English far better than most of her countrymen.

These girls along with Seika girls represent the BEST of Japan wheather you are talking about concert or marching band genres. Leave the jazz to Takesago a nd show to Osaka TOIN. All great !!

You're there on the left coast of the US. Before the Tamanas fly to Clarinda, they make a stop in Washington state and play a concert at Pacific Lutheran University, just south of Seattle. You should take advantage of it and fly up there to hear these kids in action.

Great sound! They are like the real-life version of "Swing Girls" which is a Japanese movie about a schoolgirls jazz band.

My opinion is that these young ladies are the very best high school musicians I have found on youtube. My question is concerning the fact that they obviously are not allowed to wear hair styles that have bangs. I have not observed this in other Japanese high school girls and have noticed that these girls do not pin back their bangs when not in school uniform. Does anyone know why these girls cannot wear bangs. They obvious would if they could.

I think if you watch enough Japanese high school bands you will notice that each band tries to have an identifying feature. some have bangs to the right, others the left, still others centered.
Some have low pony tails, some have two pony tails, etc. Kyoto Tachibana for example have a high pony tail with a white bow. Ōnishi Gakuen has two low pony tails. When I saw the Japan Honor Green Band in the 2020 Rose Parade lot of the girls had their hair colored lighter than black because they were no longer in high school.

Not that it makes any difference, but I wonder if these kids, being as young as they are and from a country other than the US, know of how Mr. Miller met his tragic, untimely end?
