    Super job Heath!!! Also wanted to share how I’m budgeting for jigs. As we’ve discussed, I’ve got a wife and 4 children who all enjoy vertical jigging the local wrecks. Especially when we land something big. We go through tackle like you can’t believe. I found a company on Amazon named ‘fish WOW’ who sells packs of 10 jigs with assist hooks for less than $40 delivered. We are mainly using 80 and 100 gram jigs in the 100 ft depth range. I’ve used every type of jig out there and this no frills brand is surprisingly strong and reliable. Stay well brother.

    Most interesting & helpful.
    What appealed is the broad commentary without any hype, just God's honest knowledge.
    Here in Australia Slow Pitch Jigging has been around for a little while but has not taken on widely.
    Got myself an NS Black Hole BOCA B642H2MF 150-350 GRAM JIGS. + PENN Fathom 25NLD2 speed.
    Your advice has given me the dirt I need to make an informed decision on what jigs I should purchase.
    Much appreciated.

I truly appreciate your support for the channel and want to thank you for the great year. So when it comes to slow pitch my gear is anything but traditional. But I could definitely go over what I've got. However, as the gear is becoming more economical, I have been looking into getting a true SPJ set up. Thanks again for everything. Tight lines & take care ;)

    My favorite style of fishing, I’ve found a pink and glow works great as well! But I would have to say most of it depends on the presentation of the jig itself

      Merry Christmas & best wishes for a happy new year to you & your family. No, water temperature does not make a difference. It's cold down deep where you'll be fishing. Slow jigging is done all over the world, even in the coldest places. Always great to hear from you. I truly appreciate your support for the channel and want to thank you for an excellent year. Heath, I love your seminars about SPJ and I'm going all in. I have a question regarding Jig weight relative to the SPJ Rod. If a Rod has a minimum jig weight rating, is there any way to go just a bit lighter? I would imagine a jig that is too light won't load the rod properly. Can a SPJ Rod rated for 100g minimum use a 80g jig effectively?

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Yes you can go both ways, lighter or heavier... the rating on the rod is just a suggestion. You'll be perfectly fine with 80 g on a 100 g light side rod. I have a Star Rod from the plasma II series, 6'8" rated for 150 - 400 grams and I am able to effectively fish with 100 gram jigs. Hope this info helps. Thanks again for you support of the channel. I truly appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

      @@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing Heath, thanks a million! I went fishing on 6.13 and got my first hookup on SPJ. Used an Accurate rod rated for 100-350 with a 100g (fat) jig. Up here in New Jersey, we mostly do bottom fishing and I stayed in the lower 10-20ft depths. Did have to sacrifice one Jig as it managed to get caught on some structure. It did seem like only a small window where the fish would actively hit jigs though. 12pm to about 2pm. I do have to downsize my reels for this as the one I used was a bit too large.

    • @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
      @SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. When I'm in that depth range I use a 300 gram stub jig from JYG. If the current is really ripping, I'll switch to a long stick 300 gram jig from Hyabusa. But, 300 g's is the range you want for that depth. Hope this helps. Thanks for supporting the channel.
