Can a person be homesick for a place they have never been? Thank you for this wonderful adventure in the English countryside....loved every minute of it. Oh and I am with you on the sauerkraut. Have you ever had sauerkraut soup? Mmmmm...so good. Thanks again for this video...you have no idea how great it is and how it helps to "escape" from the madness going on in the world and in North America right now. Stay safe.

Debra P there is a Welsh word Hiraeth that is hard to translate but generally takes the meaning of being homesick for a place you can’t return to such as a childhood home which you could return to but it’s not that same as you are the one which has changed. It also includes a place you haven’t even been to. So yes, you can be homesick for a place you haven’t been. These lovely videos also make me homesick! Some of the places I’ve been to and others I just dream about calling home.
I’ve always dreamed of the British countryside. I think it was watching too much “last of the summer wine” on pbs when i was younger.

My small town in SC is Ehrhardt which was founded by Conrad Ehrhardt from Bamberg , Germany. Our County is named for that city and a town also.

This is exactly what I miss about the UK, apart from family, food, shopping, humour, weather, public transport, NHS etc! Is the beautiful British villages and countryside. Stunning and so peaceful..I needed that especially since everything that is going on in the world, especially here in the US..Thank you for taking time to share.. we are currently in the process of making sauerkraut from scratch..5 days into fermentation.. great probiotic! I love it when you say “ one more thing” I never want the vlogs to end! Love the umbrella too!

Hello Gill, funny that you should mention humour. I had just said the same thing to another ex-pat a few days ago. There seems to be such a lack of humour on the NA side of the Atlantic. Of course, these are serious times, no doubt.
Hello M... yes so many things are different across the pond. I know it’s a different country but when I moved here, through marriage, I thought the US is a western country, can’t be that different! How wrong I was!!!! And I think about home everyday! Thank God for Kirsten and Jorge !

My heart aches to go to England one day that is such a desire and passion I have had for so long. I worked in a restaurant where many visitors from around the world had come and I have met British people and I must say I find them delightful and I simply love their sense of humor. I really like the both of you sooooo much and I am so excited to watch you both together first off and then everything else after that. You have sweet personalities and the love flows through. Whilst I love the houses the gardens take my breath away. So beautiful. I noticed the house that had the sign that said to use the back door and it reminded me about my Father. We always used the back door because he said the front door is for the queen. I was raised the USA and my Father is of English descent.

From the Tudor period to the Victorians brickwork and ornate chimney stacks were to show off how wealthy and powerful your family were. Just showing off, big time!!!! Also, there was a window tax, the more windows you had the more money you paid to the government, on some old buildings you can see where windows are bricked up, presumably to not pay the tax!!

Ohhh thank you so very much for the gorgeous tour. I am so glad you take us along. There is something that draws me to England. If I did not have my four legged cats Nico, Gigi and Bacio I would sell everything and move to one of the many lovely small English villages. I love the detail on the homes. The chimney's are so gorgeous and the gardens too. It almost makes me cry. I hate that we have gotten away from our history. I have been watching Restoration Home on TH-cam and it is fascinating the history they discover from the homes.

Over 40 years ago I used to go to school 'discos' at Eccleston Village Hall, organised by the Kings School in Chester. I went to an all-girls school so you can imagine the excitement of planning our outfits for the disco! Happy times! Your videos are bringing back such lovely memories for me 😊

Hi Kirsten and Joerg, those were very beautiful homes that you filmed in this video. I like the fireplace stacks on the homes, very Victorian looking. The gardens looks beautiful as well.
Sour kraut is good with stuffed cabbage imo. That’s the way I have always eaten it.

' Grosvenor' is the family name of the dukes of Westminster. They came over with the Normans in 1066, Grosvenor means 'Big Nose'. The current duke was a promising footballer and had a trial with Fulham FC. A great film with beautiful villages.

I have traced my husband’s father’s family back from Anglesey to Cheshire. Although most of our ancestors are Welsh, our surname is Eaton, a very English name! I doubt that we have any link with the Eaton estate though. Much too humble! The furthest I’ve traced back is to my husband’s great x 4 grandfather who was a gamekeeper on the Calveley Estate just north of Nantwich.
I love the quant half timbered and brick cottages in the Cheshire villages.

Debra,yes you can be homesick for a place you have never been....I spent the first 5 years of my life in England before emigrating to Canada with my parents,but I still feel British & love all this everything British,& feel I could live there again

Absolutely, we have visited a number of times.
Hallo ihr Beiden, das war mal wieder ein schöner Ausflug, all die alten Häuser und die wunderschönen Gärten. Englische Gärten sind ja berühmt und die englischen Rosen auch. Habe auch 4 super alte englische Rosen von Austin in meinem Garten, die blühen zwar nur einmal aber dafür in Hülle und Fülle und die Luft ist voll von ihrem Duft.
Ich war auf unserem Markt und habe mir Sauerkraut vom Faß gekauft, das gabs dann mit Nürnberger Bratwürsten und frischem Bauernbrot. Ich mag so deftige Kost, alles frisch und kein so fertiges Zeugs. Hoffentlich hat es euch auch so gut geschmeckt wie mir.
Ich freu mich schon auf eure nächste Wanderung und bleibt gesund.
Vielen Dank liebe Christa! Ja, das Gartencenter von David Austin ist nur 40 Minuten von uns entfernt und hat auch einen öffentlichen Garten, einer der schönsten, die wir kennen. Wir waren letztes Jahr 2x dort und haben auch gefilmt.
