As a Yorkshire lass now living in Germany, I can only confirm your statements about the beauty of the Yorkshire countryside and I want to thank you for showcasing it in such a wonderful way here. I also loved the original series and am enjoying the new ones here too, as they come out.
I share your enthusiasm for the country life! I enjoy swapping words like "wireless" for radio and "snug" for lounge. I must have overlooked this video! I'm glad I found it! "All Creatures" has been one of my favorite TV series for the past 35-years! And the new series is also very well done! It's hard to find programs the entire family can enjoy! Great job! Thanks for putting this one together!
I love how you takes us along! I was in a very bad car accident and I am still learning to walk after 4 years. I love to travel and my husband and I did lots of that pre-wreck. And we are aching to do more but your videos are truly a balm for our yearning to travel. Thank you.
What a treat! I have been a fan of the books and the original series and now the new series. I also love The Yorkshire Vet. I live in Los Angeles County in California, so I am amazed at how old ( and lovely) everything is. Television in the USA is so bad I don't even own one. When I can get a glimpse of anything old British online I'm absolutely tickled. I wonder how old those old stone wall around Yorkshire are... Thanks for your vids!
@@dickdastardly1883 Thanks for the information. I am amazed at the age and beauty of those walls, Yorkshire is just so beautiful. I tried to imagine the beauty when it was described in the James herriot books, but to see it, online it takes my breath away. The old stone buildings are so delightful. I'm really thankful that some people have had the good sense not to tear them down. Hopefully, those dales and moors will never be developed.
I am brazilian, I love your videos, it's my dream to know England, but these places that you show for me! Thanks! Long life for you and your husband! Congratulations!🌹🌺
My word ... thank you for sharing your beautiful/ old country . I just love tagging along w you . That’s is my dream cottage . Thank you . I dream of the day this American can come to visit your lovely countryside ❤️
I cry for joy writing this - you both cannot begin to imagine the peace and calm you bring to us in the states during the political crisis we are enduring - gives us all hope that we can have the peace you both bring to the world - love you both, the scenery, the precious quiet music - you are a great gift from the Universe to us all - Thank you, !
That chair right by the aga is a lot like the one my Grandpa used to sit in whilst watching my Grandma cook. Often he would fall asleep. Now I have that chair and it is very precious.
Really enjoyed the journey then WOW! I agree totally. The cottage and view were perfect! I loved it so much I watched that part twice. A real treasure. The meal looked delicious too. Thank you for taking us along.
I always watch your videos at twice, the first time I watch and pay full attention, then immediately after I play it again and fall asleep cos you're both so relaxing! Love you both ❤️❤️
I love the series “All Creatures Great and Small”! I watched the DVD while living in New Zealand! ❤️❤️❤️ You look absolutely lovely Kirsten! Countryside in England is a dream! Love the music! You guys rock!,👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Many thanks for posting this video. I'm eagerly (impatiently!) waiting for the new version of All Creatures Great and Small to make its debut here in the USA. I'd love to return to the UK after the virus is under control. All the best to the both of you.
This is the loveliest video I think you have ever made. It’s gorgeous. The filming is wonderful. I love the cottage so much. It’s so cosy and homely. Everything about it is beautiful. Thank you both x
I can’t say THANK YOU enough. Honestly, when you were filming the locations of the original All Creatures Great and Small it brought a tear to my eye. Like yourselves, I watched the series faithfully, it was much anticipated viewing every week here in the US on PBS by myself and MANY others! I am looking forward to the new series when it comes to PBS, it was so good to hear it is not a disappointment. To see places I may never witness with my own eyes is the most incredible gift, I don’t have the words to express what it means.
That's so great, thank you! We love the remake, my parents do as well. I think being open minded is key and not compare it to the old one but we love the actors and it's just fun to watch.
"To see places I may never witness with my own eyes is the most incredible gift, I don’t have the words to express what it means." You have said exactly how I feel too.
Kristen and Joerg - I feel like you’re my children! Yes, I have the age to be your mother!! I watch your videos with my heart so warmth!!! Take good care!!! Keep doing something pure and pleasant for people like me, that loves see those beautiful places and appreciate so beautiful things you guys show with love, culture and friendship!!
What a lovely visit. I loved the TV series. One of my favorite scenes was Mrs. Pumphrey's butler carrying her dog around in the garden. James had prescribed exercise for the dog.
Heartwarming much! Visiting the Lake District was a life highlight for me, and I can’t wait to go back. And that cottage and gorgeous landscape! No words. I am currently finishing up my manuscript for a children’s bio on Beatrix Potter, so this is perfect inspiration. I also enjoyed the footage showing the All Creatures Great and Small filming locations. I have always been a huge James Herriot fan, and I will often read a snippet from one of his books before bedtime. So soothing and peaceful. Thanks for another great video!
Do you know how much your beautiful smiles and beautiful scenery from your travels light up my day? Thank you both for so generously sharing your adventures.
Dear Kirsten & Joerg: I'm from a now devasted country called Venezuela, and due to this I have become Chilean resident, living in Santiago since the past 5 years. Before the internet boom, in South America we didn't have the exposure to most old English or european tv programs. All this to say that it has been thru Your Channel that I had become aware of many places, stories, and tv programs, and I feel very grateful for that. It is funny because years ago, I actually worked for British Airways during almost 15 years, (based at Heathrow and Gatwick), yet it is thru you and your channel that I had probably visited the English country side in more detail than from the time I lived there. Sorry for this rather long message, but I just wanted you to know how far your channel reaches, how relevant and appreciated it is for many of us, and indeed, to thank you for that!!! Best regards :)
Hi, loved your video! My father worked on the original film that was shot on location in Yorkshire in 1974. I was only 8 years old but remember going up to Yorkshire for a week to watch some of the film being made. Lovely memories.
That cottage was so stinkin' cute and cozy. I want to live there. Kristen you have the voice for recording audible books especially children's books. It so soothing and expressive. I love listening to you. Great content.👍♥️
I said exactly the same, we used to have programme called Jackanory years ago where an adult would read a book for the children I could just see Kirsten doing that, gosh you thought exactly as I did. I love listening to her voice too. Such an interesting couple.
Yes Kirsten, you do have such a lovely voice. I Love your and Joerg's relationship with each other. So kind and loving! Alll the best , from across the pond in Virginia! PS, I get to live and visit all these lovely villages vicariously through your videos. Thanks so much for bringing us such great content!
I had a night job in the 70s that left me with a lot of time on my hands. I read the entire series during that time. I dreamt about getting a little job somewhere in England and using my free time to explore. That never happened, but I never forgot those books. Thanks for doing this!💕💕
I also loved watching the original All creatures big and small and have not yet watched the new version but will. It was nice seeing where it all began and the cottage you stayed in was so adorable. I truly miss the UK :( this video was a bit hard for me to watch because I miss it so much..but its a lovely video and had to watch it to the end
Very interesting video and lovely scenery. I love your recipes ....your curry looked delicious. Hope you post more meals....I have tried them and find them very good! Great ideas for travel meals.
OMG! My husband and I were in the Yorkshire Dales exactly one year ago!! We're so sad that we cannot be there now. I have a photo of me standing on the steps of Skeldale House. When we arrived in Askrigg and I saw it for the first time, I literally started crying. I looked up at that third-story window where Helen waves goodbye to James when he goes off to war and I just lost it. My husband and I have been watching the series since it came out, first on VHS and now on DVD. My heart is breaking that we can't be there.
My parents visited Yorkshire (from California) one time, JUST so my mom could drive through the dip in the road that makes the puddle splash in the intro of the tv series
Loving this, I have also watched the program in Germany as a girl, wouldn't miss it. I love Yorkshire and I love the same tasty peanut butter. Germans, hey!
Really enjoyed the trip with you to the Lake District, the English villages on the way are truly charming and lovely! And so much of green open spaces, can't wait to see the rest of the Lake District!
Thank you for such a beautiful video. You are so enthusiastic and appreciative of your surroundings that you make everyone else have those feelings too 💚
They have just recently started to show ads for All Creatures here in the US on PBS, our favorite station. So enjoyed the original series back when and have read all the books. Thank you for the tour.
Oh Kirsten and Joerg I loved this video to bits. I too grew up watching All Creatures Great and Small in Australia. I have actually stayed at Skeldale House in Askrigg - a dream come true for me! The Yorkshire Dales are stunning. Thank you for bringing back wonderful memories of the countryside and driving along the narrow country lanes. I am looking forward to seeing the new series - not sure when it’s on in Australia though. Your cottage in the Lake District is just gorgeous - would love to visit there one day when we’re allowed to travel again. I could hear the emotion in your voice when you saw the view. I’m not surprised you needed an early night - you’ve both had a big day! I look forward to your next video.

Your beautiful trip to the Yorkshire Dales truly brings back the memories of this delightful series: All Creatures Great and Small. Mr. Harriott's books were also a pleasure to read. The countryside is so inspiring and I can still see James and Tristin trudging through them and having to open and close all those gates! Thank you from Canada. Your trips are always a pleasure to watch.

Hi Kirsten & Joerg Thanks again for such a wonderful video. As an English Literature Major in college I don’t know how I missed All Creatures Great and Small. I will most definitely read them and get my hands on the shows ! You stay in the coziest and beautiful cottages and this one is adorable. You film such lovely places in England that, like you Kirsten, I get goosebumps. Joerg you looked so content sitting in that rocker by the stove but it couldn’t quite compare how to you looked when you were learning to fly your drone- cat that ate the canary. I would love it if you guys would write a cookbook !! Your recipes look so tasty and healthy and I know that gluten free recipes are always a plus. Best Wishes Teresa
You too where made for each other...it’s so delightful to see a couple that truly enjoy each other’s company. Thank so much for your videos, it’s a reminder of how beautiful England is. I lived in London for a bit, and had the opportunity to travel to the country side. I miss it sooo much. And can’t wait for this pandemic to be over to hopefully flight there again, and perhaps relocate to England for good. Much love to both of you ❤️
muchas gracias por el hermoso paseo ,es hermoso todo los pueblos son de cuento de hadas y ambos se ven muy lindos, de nuevo muchas gracias por mostrarnos esos paseos desde mexico df un saludo xxxxxxxx
Beautiful villages, beautiful cottage, beautiful video. Great cinematography. Kirsten, you are truly gifted (and a hard worker, of course). Brava! Ps. There is no greener green as the green in the English country side.
OMG...breath taking scenery! Everything, the cottage just gives off the most warm and cozy feeling clear over here in Marietta Georgia. If only those walls could talk. As I have mentioned multiple times, there is just something that continues to pull on my heart strings and draw me to England. I bet the Dragon Pub, I think that was what you called it, looks magical at night! Thank you so very much for bringing such beautiful outings to us. The joy you bring to my days are immeasurable 😘😘
Thanks so much! Yes, the cottage was so so cosy and I agree, the pub at night will look lovely and a visit at night would be lovely too with candles lit.
Gosh that cottage is heaven! Perfect for me because I love a soak in the bath. Can't stand showers. It's been decorated so beautifully lovely woodburner and the aga too. Hope you have a link to it. Thanks for taking us along.
I’m reading all things wise and wonderful right now. It was given to me by my father-in-law and mother-in-law last year and I can’t believe I’ve lived this long without ever hearing about the series. I am so excited to see what they do with it. Such touching and heartwarming literature. And of course you two look spectacular as usual. Fall really suits both of your styles very well.
I am convinced that cottage you are staying in is perfect. And I am SO thrilled you got to cook on an AGA. my dream. Your choice of curry is perfect too. I’m so happy with you for a wonderful weekend experience.
I am so pleased you made it up to the Lake District (and Yorkshire!) this past weekend. I'm happy to once again live vicariously through you both. Lovely video, lovely couple.
Oh God, the surroundings of that cottage (and the cottage itself), don't have the words. Imagine living there, being connected to that place with your life and soul. What fortune. Thanks for taking us along.
Das war wieder so schön! Ich habe jedes Mal das Gefühl dabei zu sein und genieße den "kleinen Englandurlaub" durch Eure Videos. Vielen Dank und liebe Grüße aus Köln❣
Lovely cottage with sublime views. It would give me goosebumps too! I hope you head a good nights sleep and you were well rested for your hike. Looking forward to part two of your getaway weekend. 😀
I certainly understand why James Herriot could not leave such a beautiful place. I would not like to leave it either. Thank you both for showing us something so lovely. All the best to you both. lol
This is a treasure as just love the books and the 1975 shows. What a treat! You did such an excellent 'tour'. Your cottage was so warm and welcoming. What a gem!
What a beautiful video! The country scenery was so serene. What beautiful rock walls. The buildings were just stunning. The narrow roads so interesting. Loved that cottage! You couldn't have picked one more cozy. Glad you both enjoyed your trip.

Awww thank you so much Teresa! I hope you get the chance to read the books because they are absolutely wonderful, I'm sure you would love them.
You guys are the best ambassadors for the UK ever!
That's so kind, thank YOU!
Much love to both of you ❤️
Thanks so much, that's so kind! Yes, travelling to places has become extremely special. Have a lovely rest of the week.
muchas gracias por el hermoso paseo ,es hermoso todo los pueblos son de cuento de hadas y ambos se ven muy lindos, de nuevo muchas gracias por mostrarnos esos paseos desde mexico df un saludo xxxxxxxx
You are so welcome!
Beautiful villages, beautiful cottage, beautiful video. Great cinematography. Kirsten, you are truly gifted (and a hard worker, of course). Brava!
Ps. There is no greener green as the green in the English country side.
Thanks so much!
I adore that cottage! It is just perfect and in such a beautiful setting! Thank you for the lovely visit :)
Absolutely wonderful! Been to Yorkshire too many years ago and I'm just melting of beauty :)
Your holiday cottage is amazing. I could happily live there.
It's so gorgeous, isn''t it?
I’m reading all things wise and wonderful right now. It was given to me by my father-in-law and mother-in-law last year and I can’t believe I’ve lived this long without ever hearing about the series. I am so excited to see what they do with it. Such touching and heartwarming literature. And of course you two look spectacular as usual. Fall really suits both of your styles very well.
The books are just wonderful!!! So happy to hear you're enjoying it. Thanks so much!!
Thank you so so much!!
Oh God, the surroundings of that cottage (and the cottage itself), don't have the words. Imagine living there, being connected to that place with your life and soul. What fortune. Thanks for taking us along.
So glad you like it!
