    Please watch my friends Ather service experience in Kannada 👇
    ‪@Mr350Traveller‬ - • Ather 450x First Servi...
    The Ather 450X is available in two variants: Plus and 'X' priced at Rs 1,27,916 and Rs 1,46,926 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 450X is the most powerful electric scooter on sale in India. The Bajaj Chetak premium variant on the other hand retails for Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
    The Ather 450X 0-60kmph acceleration time is 6.94 seconds, which makes it quicker than the BS6 Suzuki Access and the TVS NTorq 125. Powering the 450X electric scooter is a 2.9kWh motor producing 6kW of power. We were able to achieve a range of 91km and a top speed of 90km on the 450X. It takes about 5hrs and 45mins to full charge the Ather 450X via a home charger. Fast charging however, will have a charge time of 1.45km/min.
    Features on the electric scooter includes Bluetooth, 4G connectivity, ANdroid operating system, reverse mode and navigation. The Ather 450X competes against the Bajaj Chetak and the TVS iQube electric scooters in India.

    #OlaElectricScooter #Ola #ElectricScooter
    Meanwhile, the Ola S1 Pro also comes with a 8.5kW motor but features a larger 3.9kW battery. The S1 Pro also gets a ‘Hyper’ riding mode in addition to the Normal and Sport riding modes.

      They really ripped you off specially on the rotor issue. Its not an issue with those light scratches that you showed. You only needed to replace the pads, the rortor replacement at that stage is unnecessary. I have seen worse scarring on rotors and they work perfectly fine.
      Rear Brake pads are ByBRE single piston caliper pads. Probably any of the Bajaj motorcycle rear disc pads.

    This issue of braking is going to be common on electric vehicles. Coz the motor torque is very high, so braking power required is more. So brake pads are going to be an issue for any electric vehicle. I would recommend not to use the high acceleration modes on any electric vehicle in traffic. Constant acceleration and deceleration using brakes is going to be hard on the brakes. On IC engine vehicles, on bikes we get clutch to control power and use brakes to decelerate. Below quality brakes are another issue. You issue could be a combination of all. I have booked a tvs iqube , it has drum brakeson rear , I have to seriously change my riding style now.

You can't identify who the service advisor is, everything feels messed up. I changed my honda cb300r stock brake pads @18k kms, How can brake pads wear out so soon. I found the Bybre brakes on Ather are similar to the ones found in Bajaj pulsar 220F brake pads, if they say no stock, tell them to source from Bajaj.

  • @yashwanthbedre8220

    Looking at the wear of Ather 450x brake pads, it seems Ather is not (actively) using or not enabled the regenerative braking. With regen, the brakepads should last for long period, Tesla they claim it can last for life of the battery with the single pedal driving..

  • @rohitghali
    @rohitghali 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Brake pads depends on braking style too dude. If there are more complete and sudden brakes, they wear off soon. If there's mostly smooth breaking, it uses up regenerative braking. It wears the pads less. At the end of the day, it all depends on ride style and Rider's braking style.
    Part shortage, I get it. It's bad. But breakpad wear, depends on Rider's and breaking conditions.

      Dude, let howmuchever brake you use, it shouldn't go bad so early. Service center guys simply tell to change every part in every service. We should know what to change, why and when. Usually, parts will be good even after their mentioned lifetime. If it's working normal, never change. My Gixxer brake pad is in very good condition even after running 25,000km in Bangalore traffic..!!!

    • @tdhar2009
      @tdhar2009 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Idk man I ride a Gixxer and I have had to change my front pad once and rear drums twice. 28k on the odometer. 8-10k is the accepted life of brake pads, by which you go down to the indications, which is 20 percent of material. This pad is just base metal which ground off the rotor. Possibility is a faulty brake system that does not retract properly, or inferior quality.

I called the Ather customer care they asked me to get the bike to the service centre. They said that some software reload need to be done. After that they said the problem has been fixed the problem will not come again. The same day after going home it is still restarting. And again I call the customer care they said to bring it back to the service station I took the bike on 20 November still there not able to rectify the problem and bike is still with them. Reason 1:-
    If dirt gets on to the surface, and sticks there, then a pad will hit the dirt whenever it hits the rotor. For example, if your rotor's surface develops a problem, then your brake pads might suffer because they aren't hitting a smooth surface. If the rotor has worn or rusty patches, then it will lose some of its smoothness. If a pad hits a rough surface or even a tiny dirt obstruction, then it gets minor damage whenever you brake. Its surface rubs away on the uneven part, which can accelerate wear.
    Reason 2:-
    Sometimes, pads wear down too quickly because your calipers don’t work correctly. Calipers push pads against the rotor to initiate braking. If a caliper jams or sticks, then it might leave the pad on the surface for longer than necessary. The pad will wear down more quickly because it stays on the rotor for too long.
    Best practices:- Try keeping your disc clean as far as possible to get the most out of it.

    • @VivekSingh-nl6hs
      @VivekSingh-nl6hs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Pradeep,
    Fully agree with regarding the service experience they gave you. However regarding the disc pads, after using Ather for sometime I realized that Ather has Zero regen or braking even when you stop accelerating it still keeps on zooming through smoothly. Result of which we tend to apply a lot more brakes compared to any other normal bike. I feel this could be one of the reasons for disc pads to wear off lot earlier than expected. In most other EV's strong regen is used which almost starts braking your vehicle as soon as you leave accelerator. I felt that was annoying as you need to keep on accelerating all the time and its hurts your hands after some time.

    Hey Brother I really love your videos but I have my very own doubts with what you said, I essentially agree that the cost of the brake pads and the entire servicing was high.
    But can you tell us how fast did you reach 5000kms on your ather?
    Because here's a thing, I don't own dominor, but I own a hornet. I have an extensive use and have completed 30000km in one year itself.
    I got it last year and that piece of shit has cost me alot of money even with free services.
    Brake pads I had to replace every 3000km. I got them fixed externally always and it used to cost me 600 for front and back combined. So a total of 6000 as I changed them almost ten times.
    I had to change the oil every 3000km so again changed it 10 times and that summed up to 3500INR.
    Now talking about the filters, I spent around 1000 bucks in the same in the last year.
    Additionally for my very own commuting I am paying 4000inr in petrol every month which comes to around 48000 additional and last but not the least I have spent around off 2000 rs in labor.
    So I got the bike for 1.6lakhs, spend 60000 more on it(inclusive of petrol) to commute almost 60-70km a day.
    This is additional cost of 5000 per month on my Hornet just to keep it going.
    Even now since my first service year is over, even in the local area the servicing Labor charges are around 500-800 and material additional.
    Which will in turn sum up to 1200-1500rs.
    Now while talking about ather you just got bill for 1200-2000 bucks that too after 5000km.
    And the over all cost incurred per month in comparison to a bike worth same amount is like 10 times less so why crib so much about paying up for service?
    So what if we have to pay the same amount for service there are same number of electronic chip sets involved but why this issue with paying up for service? It's a thing that helps you save almost 50k in a year and cribbing about a service and parts worth 1k?
    I mean koi sense hai is baat ki?

      @@charlespink6126 Thanks brother. Let's see what @Pradeep on Wheels has to say about this. I am hoping to get his explanation on this one.
      I like his honest review and get his frustration but it's ironic on how we are okay with spending 3-4k (inclusive of petrol)every month on the normal ic engine two wheelers but nag about just 1200 rs of serving when it comes to electric two wheelers.
      I personally come from a field of production and automobile so I know the cost that ather is charging is somewhere inflated but also justified as they can't match the quantum yet which makes us feel this but honestly that's okay compared to how much we spend on the ic engine two wheelers.

    • @dixidm310
      @dixidm310 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looking beyond the cost issue, there still is the lack of customer care seen from the way the branches refuse to communicate with eachother to get the required parts for a customer, and on top of that the uncleaned vehicle and not paying attention to the customer request to charge it will cause any customer to question having to pay the amount of money for labor. Ofcourse you cannot expect an IC engine service centre to refuel your vehicle but the fuel infrastructure is not a problem so it can be managed.
      My 150cc Vespa gives me a total charge of under Rs.2000 per service every 4k kms. That's with way more moving parts than this vehicle. So the frustration is understandable..

      ather is extremely cheap to maintain, they have service plan 2400 per year, if we take that subscription you don't need pay for services or brake pads( all included in 2400 per year)
      Even we can activate this plan 1day before going to service

      I have doubt that if you travel around 70kms in a day why have you chosen V2?? Can you please explain.
      Also is your first bike?
      Man you have spent so much on your bike just for regular parts.
      If it's related to engine and others then the amount might be more...
      Also please search for alternative OEMs for the pads that suit your bike. Avoid original pads/rotor/any such parts from Honda as they cost you a bomb.
      Ex: Disc pads of Karizma costs a bomb while the RTR160 pads perfectly suits for ZMA with much much lesser price.

    I suppose Ola:s home delivery coffee shop may be better. With regen braking you should get much longer service on your brakes. There must be an issue with the self adjusters that is adding drag on the brakes and reducing your range. I have heard Ather is making money on service. May be like printers where they subsidize the box and rob you on the ink. May want to learn to make your own coffee. I prefer the ola model which says no service, and just part maintenance which are monitored in the bike like belt and pads. They need to add pad warning clips that whine when the pads are close to done to save the disk. You were totally ripped off. I think they assume if you can afford 1.5lac then you will pay for service even if they do nothing. An ev should not need any service. Brake pads and belts are consumables and should always be in stock.

    I feel you bro. Without service subscription you are like a second class customer to them. I called for an enquiry & they asked if I have subscription. When he realised I didn't have one, his volume dropped & cut the call, then busy for that whole day. Im not making this up. Also recently I changed rear brake pads under 1.5k km. I think its either a manufacturing defect on all their scooters or intentionally done for profit.

    Yes I do agree the service is very bad. My scooter's boot lamp had stopped working the next day I bought the scooter and I went to service center a week after to rectify the issue. It was a two minute work to check weather there was a loose connection or something else. But before even looking at it..they said there is no stock of boot lamps in center and come next week..the guy asked me to take a video of the light as not working and send on WhatsApp and I should remind him to get the stock on WhatsApp it seems..lol..I even reminded him but he just seen zoned my message. And I had to visit three times to get that light changed...even at the time they changed it. they were saying to drop the scooter when I went on Saturday and said it will be delivered on Monday. I insisted them to check the thing first and talk...then they said 4 hrs time...but I just waited there and it was done in less than 10 mins....they just had to remove couple of screws for boot storage and replace the lamp..and I had visit 3 times for it. And all the time I was there. I was hearing the break pad conversation with every customer and the bill. I think there is something fishy about the breakpad and service.

    Thanks bro... You made me to take the right decision to buy Bajaj Platina 110 H. I was little skeptical with the final decision. After seeing the experience you had in Bangaluru where Ather has lot of service stations, no way I would risk myself by buying Ather here in Erode, where nearby service station is more than 100 kms.

    2500 rs service cost after 5000 kms is totally acceptable. However brake pads damage in just 5k kms is clear indicator of poor quality spare or maybe you were the unlucky one.

      Ather is providing service packages which will cost 2400 per year which includes service charges and all consumable parts., even in this package if you run out of batter they will tow the scooter till nearest charging station., if we want door step pickup and return for services it will cost another 1200 per year

    Sir, the ather guy is correct, when my mom used to ride my Activa , the brakes worn out easily by 2k km because my mom used to ride with applying the brakes. So ask your sister and the others who ride your ather, to not use brakes while riding. Please don't judge the quality. Even hard braking degrades brake pad.

    The biggest scam is Labour charge ! I had a bad experience with maruti for servicing my swift vxi where service charge was quoted 4k. When i asked what all they do they said they wil top up coolant, battery , change oil and oil filter. I asked what if coolant is full. Then he said they wil drain little bit and tol it up ! Hahaha....i left the spot immediately and changed my oil and air filter and coolant from workshop outside for 2500rs.

    Wow...so your existing company with proven track record also did not meet expectations. So if a newcomer does not meet expectation, we just cannot blame them. Its across the EV industry.
    Not sure if its issue with their brake pad quality, but I have seen people riding with some part of brake applied and giving acceleration and they do not even realize. This is because they have habit of keeping their fingers on brake. Not sure if this was the reason for brake pad gone bad in your case.

    I had subricption for service. They changed my front brake pads, rear brake pads were not available. They told me to come back after 2days for rear brake pad. I got it changed after 2 days.
    I didn't pay a single rupee for all this. Only it was time consuming and i had to visit service center twice.

    So, in this situation a customer can do consumer court case?
