I’m approaching 3 years. 2 yrs were consistent this last year I’ve had bb blues & just had a break of 3.5 months. Just started back now & what’s been great is that people have been genuinely pleased to see me come back & have told me so. Very heart warming. I feel very comfortable and bedded in as a bb now. Still some things I haven’t yet got my head around that confuse me. My plan is to be very consistent again & see where I am in another year. Hopefully I will have gotten over some humps. The next promotion will come when I’m ready & my coach says so. Right now I don’t feel ready. Honestly I’ve no idea what a purple belt is other than technically they’re noticeably better than me.
Thanks for the video. Took me 8 months to get my 1st stripe on my white, my Professor is a hard grader, but! The last 2 stripes took me 10 months total, my Professor double stripe me a few weeks ago on the promotion ceremony last month. Honestly....I felt that I didn't deserved a 3rd Stripe, I feel I needed more practice on the mat for the 3rd Stripe. I'm nervous now, I'm one stripe away n some months for the blue. I will enjoy being still a white belt, but I'm grateful my professor took a long time to promote me. I'll probably will be blue belt by August 2023 or December 2023. I'm in no hurry..I still feel like I got to progress some more before I reach blue bell level. (I've been at it, same jiu-jitsu academy, 17 months now. I'm loving the struggle n me sucking at it n the tap outs. :) )
@@ChristopherCarpenter TH-cam never send me a notice of you replying back to me...? I don't know if I was? But I do know that I'm reversing locks n submissions a lot more. And I'm able to give a hard time having both blue belts n purple belts tap me out. I weightlift, so little by little I'm learning to integrate strength in defensive techniques together. I've also been submitting white belts that are new to bjj. Currently, I'm getting better at passing guards , both white belts n blue belts, n forming a basic offense. I haven't tapped out a blue belt yet, but I'm not making things easy for them . LoL the blue belts in my class have either more years of experience than me or were former wrestlers. I'm also 40 years old too, so I'm one of the older folks in the class. LoL!
Hi from the uk just discovered your channel and have been binging some of your videos. I have a question and I would like your opinion. Iv been doing BJJ for 3 months, my coach (black belt) will show the class a technique and how he wants it to be done. When I partner up with a particular white belt 4stripes we will drill it once or twice then he goes down a rabbit hole of changing the technique because he thinks it’s better and tries to get me to do it his way. To be honest we end up in a bit of a mess. I try get him back on track but and sometimes just completely ignore him. What would your advice be. It must be a common problem.
Amazing question and I will for sure make a video. I batch film and schedule them to upload one at a time. If I'm able to, I usually respond with the link, but sometimes I'm not able to find this comment again as I just take a screenshot and film the videos later. So moral the story, keep your eyes out for a video.
The upper belts are waiting til you get your blue belt before cranking your neck and heel hooking you? Damn, I’m still a white belt and I have to keep my feet far away from all of them 😂😫 lol

change partner or when he's changing the technique call the professor and respectfully ask his opinion on it.
You don't have to do what he says. Just ignore him and do it your way.
