Beautiful voice...and wonder of wonders he sings with good technique. His mouth is open, his jaw is loose, his tongue is down where it belongs, he breathes correctly for singing, he supports the tone properly, the sound is effortless, and the voice is even throughout its range. John Barrowman is one talented, well-trained, and accomplished singer. John is the perfect illustration of the fact that good technique is for all types of singers, not just opera and classical singers.
he is extremely multi talented, and altho we all know him in the UK, Americans also know him more than you realise. Captain Jack Harkness will live in the Who Universe Forever! making JB Immortal!
I LOVE THIS MAN. He's a brilliant actor, and Jack is one of my favorite Doctor Who characters. But also, he has a flippin' fantastic voice!! He can sing big, theatre numbers like this, but he also sounds amazing on more pop songs.
I was just looking for this song's lyrics and found this great rendition that won me over. What a talent and he's got all anyone could want or need to be where he is. Thank you John Barrowman. A new fan.
This was the most beautiful song I have ever heard sung by anyone. I adore John Barrowman more than ever before. He is truly amazing. I'm so stunned I can't even use exclamation points.
SUCH a stuf muffin...I don't think there will ever be another John Barrowman. He is talented in the purest form...geez. That VOICE. -sigh- Incredible. Such control. Impeccable vibrato. Fantastic diction and phrasing. Perfectly emoted lyrics. He is nothing short of phenomenal! =)
The original Hello Dolly version seen in Walle-E and also "Put on Your Sunday Clothes" also seen in Wall-E are both on TH-cam. Do a search on the titles and you will find them.
There's another TH-cam vid of Barrowman singing I Won't Send Roses from Jerry Herman's Mack and Mabel which is even better. He sang it in his UK concert tour this past spring as well as at the Boston Pops concert in August, 2004.
jackdoc5-This performance is from a Jerry Herman tribute concert with The Boston Pops Orchestra was broadcast on the PBS public TV network under the title "An Evening with the Boston Pops" on 22 August 2004. It was an all Jerry Herman song night; the song list also included John Barrowman singing "I Am What I Am" which is also posted on youtube. I have not found this performance on dvd for sale anywhere yet. Maybe an e-mail to PBS or to WGBH in Boston, MA might yield some answers.
yeah, me too. I'm basically both alto and soprano, I could really get into this song. I got chills up and down my spine (this happens when a song really moves me). One of my favorites to sing is On the street where you live from My Fair Lady.
From what I've read John Barrowman had a similar experience, locking eyes with his future husband from stage to audience! Wish them all the best. I had a not so similar experience, locking eyes with a guy I saw across the bar, but I was too shy then to make first contact. A mutual friend noticed, and introduced us. It was an instant and mutual attraction, and when we got to talking on our first date, the conversation mostly ran to what did you see in me, on both sides! It didn't last - I wanted commitment and he didn't, but we had a great run while it lasted!
Though he did grow up in the states... Its probably just that Americans generally don't "know" many actors who do mostly Broadway, and now he does so MUCH in England... but with doctor Who and Torchwood gaining popularity, who knows...
It's not about being gay or not. Gays are more drawn to Acting and Modeling etc. And Hollywood etc is drawn to beautiful people. There are tons of average and ugly Gay Men out there too... but they are not successful models or Leading Men Actors. There are surely some gay Actors that are not attractive to you... but you never cared to know. I am straight... but I spent over a decade Acting and I know plenty of gay men that are average at best. They never get to be the Romantic Lead in a typical show because they don't have whatever it is you want. But there is something to the act that most (not all) tend to take care of themselves better and tend to their beauty needs better. If I had a gay Twin he would probably look better than me with the identical set of genetics. I never get to play the Romantic Lead either.
@@SchnarphStudios Is that all? I'm going to the store. What else do I need? I'm about to start acting again. I at least need to get an advantage over the other straight guys.

But I teach them about treating others with respect and dignity and to promote kindness to others when they can. Those families that shun their children because they are gay is something I will NEVER accept and I speak with some of these parents and I let them know that your child being gay was NOT a choice but throwing them out of the house and forgetting about them is! I do what I can for these kids and letting them know they are loved unconditionally so they can continue to thrive in a world that is not so accepting.♥️

marjasofia94 - I agree, the haircut wasn't as flattering to JB as the Capt Jack Harkness look. Remember that this performance is from 2003, and was broadcast on PBS in the USA in August, 2004. The concert was called "An Evening with the Pops- A Salute to Jerry Herman". The orchestra backing JB is the Boston Pops Orchestra with conductor Keith Lockhart.

His beautiful voice was made for this
One of the most under rated singing voices on the planet. A stunning performance that gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it - fabulous!

A rather difficult song to perform well, and JB sings it beautifully!
What a passionate, heartwarming song from the movie, “Hello Dolly”. John sings it with such emotion and energy. A great vocalist! 🥰👍☺️

Oh my god. I absolutely adore John Barrowman. What an amazing singer!
Like if you recognize him first as Captain Jack Harkness!
His talent is only matched by his good looks and comic prowess. The whole package really. Love him!!!
Challenging song!!! Stretching all his ranges!!! Lovely to find this on a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon.
Such a wonderful "pure" voice.

Gotta love it, he's AMAZING. I seriously think I'm in love
Not only that but this is an incredible register for a guy to sing in, bravo!

Song from Hello Dolly
Wow so hübsch und so eine schöne Stimme = Traummann
Is this arrangement available anywhere!? I'd LOVE to sing this piece as a solo.
My only favorite song from Hello Dolly.
