    The model of the SSW D-III was fantastic. What made it stand out was the wood grain done to the interior of the fuselage. Great job! Perhaps we’ll be fortunate to see more of that technique is done.

    This is one of the best model build videos I've ever seen!
    Funky format: check
    Not overly long and drawn out: check
    Awesome finish: check
    Wouldn't mind knowing how you rigged it though as I've just ordered this kit and have never built a biplane before.

      +Spunk Bubble Sorry Spunk Bubble, unfortunately I've not seen your question till now... I rigged it with "rigg-that-thing" from Uschi van der Rosten - flexible wire, made out of rubber.

    Nice video. I built this one with the high detail Brassin' Upgraded engine too. Unfortunately nobody can see much of it once the prop and spinner go on. Overall, a nice build that makes a beautiful miniature.

    Wow, that was some amazing modeling right there, and great video production as well! Personally, since I actually like modeling videos, I wish it had been slowed down a bit, stretched to say five minutes. And with so much fantastic detail, a little bit of weathering seems missing.

    NICE! Love it! Best build video I have seen. Damn good job on this model. I have the same one, haven't built it yet, I prefer the blue version. WW1 Aerocraft are my favorite to build, I will use this video to help with it's construction. Thank you. Fantastic job with the stop action photography.
    I invented a flight simulator for WW1 1/72 aerocraft that works on the same principle of stop action. I can dogfight up to 8 feet high! I build models for a living, "some of the largest model ships in the world," and I love your work. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

    Magnificent!!! Please, how do you go about painting the "Wood Grain" effects on the interior of the plane's cockpit? That's simply AMAZING!!!

    • @TomGrigat
      @TomGrigat  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I first coated the surface with a basecolor (f.e. light brown - nearly beige). Defined some areas of different wood elements with different shades of basecolor. Then I simulated the grain by painting little lines in wavy style with darker colors and a very, very tiny brush. After the grain effect had been done I coated the "wood areas" with a yellow kind of paint.

    What a lovely model, I love the colour scheme. You did a fantastic job and the video is a delight to watch, as usual. How long did the build take you? And how long does it take you to edit a vid like this?

    • @TomGrigat
      @TomGrigat  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot. I'm glad you like my kind of video making. It's difficult to count the hours for both processes separately since I shoot the pictures as some kind of little clips for each assembling block. These takes are done nearly just in time after the specific glueing work. It takes me around 60 - 70 hours to get a clip done...

  • @cbsk341
    @cbsk341 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just came upon your work the other day and I've watched most of your modelling videos. The models are immaculate. What kind of glue do you use?

    • @TomGrigat
      @TomGrigat  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the kind words... the glue depends on the material of the models. For ordinary plastic I use a very thin plastic glue - for resin it's a very thin super glue. When some seams occure I try miliput to get rid ot them...

    Nice work! I would like to ask you, how to do the decals on the wings?? When I used it as normaly(just puted it in the water) it does not stick on the wing, please, tell me how to do it.

    • @TomGrigat
      @TomGrigat  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Milan Skála Hi Milan, thank you for your compliment. I used a decal softener (Mr. Mark Softer and Setter) and mixed it with some water not to solve the decals to much. It is a bit tricky to get a suitable result - and, to be honest, the decals delivered with the kit, are not the best. They dissolved under the softener and I had to correct some of the decor with acrylic colours...
