2016 Range Rover Sport Oil change L494 3.0L S/C V6 using MITY Extractor

  • How to oil change for all 14-20 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. This is a 2016 Model with the 3.0L Supercharged V6. Same steps will apply for the Larger body Range Rover as well as most Jaguars with this engine.
    Using a MITY Extractor off of Amazon.
    8.5 Quarts of 0w20 Oil Required. Used a STP 10992Xl Oil Filter.

    2 things you absolutely must do....
    1. Make sure the oil is at least warm when you extract
    2. When you change out the o-rings.....lube them when you re-install. they will bind and snap.

    Im just about to do an oil change on mine and have watched a few videos as wasnt sure about pumping out V drainining. A parenltly its important to partially und the oil filter before you finish puming (or draining) otherwise the oil old from the filterwill drain down into the sumo and polute your new oil/

      Interesting, I haven't seen that yet as far as loosening the oil filter but I suppose it could make sense. In my opinion there is not enough oil in the filter/filter housing to be concerned. There is maybe 1/8 of a quart in there at best. But I will try that next time.

      @@cpstang24 The vid I saw, he pumped it dry using a similar pump to yours, then removed the filter and then took out the sump plug. A further 250ml came out

      I was only able to get 5 quarts from mine doing top pump.

      @@notsure4261 That's concerning. How much oil did you end up putting back in the car? You may be burning or leaking oil.
