Just for the record, I am that fireman. I was't showing of or something. The driver was a nutcase! We got open signals first 10km, then a red signal and had to wait for about 30min. From the moment we got the all clear he just took off like a rocket. With a calm fire at that time a man has to do what he's got to do!
i'm an armchair expert and i thought little and often as well as that other commenter. you put us straight with your explanation. the work was so hard that your support firelady started to grow a moustache. i'm sure the passengers enjoyed the urgency of it all. good clip.
One of the best footplate videos I have seen, Would have been nice to see the loco on the outside shows0ing the smokebos end though. Anyway excellent video, my grandson now knows what happens to the coal in the tender, he see, me adding coal to the o gauge locos I build
I feel so proud for living in one of the first countries that brought the train to Southamerica, so sad that nowadays our locomotive has been forgoten and left to rusty in the national locomotive museum.
She done a very good job shoveling coal into the firebox for an female, although being a fireman is labor intensive job as the boiler is monitor for proper water and keep boiler pressure at proper levels.
It was a training ride, the stoker is a young man with big muscles and did rather less coal at the coal shovel ..... but it went ahead! A year later he does it all a bit easier ..... at 6:02 you can see him in action FOOTPLATE EXPERIENCE ON LAST BELGIAN STEAM TRAIN 29013
Prachtig. Het mooiste is nog met zo'n stoomloc langs een perron vlammen waar argeloze pendelaars op hun stoptrein staan te wachten! Was dit een oefenrit voor de aspirant-machinisten?
Rond 13:00 zijn jullie me voorbijgereden in Mortsel. Prachtig filmpje, nu zien we ook eens hoe hard het vroeger wel werken was om die trein pakweg 60km/u te kunnen laten rijden!
Between Brussel an Antwerp. This is a realy good engine and last steam locomotive in Belgium, built in the USA and Canada, just after the Second World War (300 locos)

Wat ik me afvraag: wat moet je doen om deel uit te maken van dit eliteteam dat deze prachtige machine bestuurt?

Should the fireman be facing the driver when firing ?
Hungry locomotive

Looks like she's working her bollocks off!
Is it normal in Belgium to use a builders shovel on the footplate and not a long slender one ? Thank you very much .
Indeed, 300 of these steam locomotives were purchased after World War II in the U.S. and Canada .Now remains only 29013 !
@3:35: what happened to "little and often"? Looks like he is trying to empty the tender in one go!
