    A lot of people feeling personally attacked because they currently owe Snap on enough money to go buy a new truck. It appears snap-on is letting QC slip, or has slipped idk. I never buy anything other than Harbor freight for the free replacements as im just a DIY guy

      I find that somewhere in the middle on pricing and convenience is what I go with is it a specialty tool that I may only use once or twice a month? Then if so I’m getting it from the tool truck unless it’s over the top priced sometimes you just can’t beat the convenience of the truck being at the shop weekly but I own just about every single tool brand you can think of 😂 but all different tools. I’m not really a brand guy I’m a guy that likes tools and I collect them as well. 😂

    Got the work done but at some point it was time to tighten the stator rotor to 190 foot lbs. In order to do this you need a special kawasaki tool that costs 700 bucks.
    I did it with a rubber belt wrench tool from amazon for 18 bucks.
    Me and the dealer are both able to do the job. They have the 700 dollar tool, i have my 18 dollar tool. His works for him, mine works for me.
    Thats what is important here. Use what works for you.
    HOWEVER. And i do mean HOW, and EVER......
    If someone shows you absolute proof that you can do the job for 18 dollars instead of 700 dollars, you would be a fool not to.
    If your Snap On wrenches are important to you and you are ok paying more, great. Just say that. The iphone crowd does it every day. They openly admit they pay more money for a lesser product because its a staus symbol.
    Thats ok.
    If you have to be a fool, best to be an HONEST fool.

      As far as your iPhone analogy, you can spend just as much on an Android phone. My Android phone cost $1,350 and it's not the most expensive one you can get. Android phones are just offered from the cheapest lowest quality to the most high end and everything in between. A $1,200 iPhone and a $1,200 Android are roughly the same overall quality, you might get slightly more bang for the buck with Android but not much. Apple just doesn't make anything of really low quality and fit and finish and they are the only company making that platform. There are many companies that make Android phones. There is a real significant difference in quality between a cheap phone and an expensive one. The screen quality, the processor, battery, camera and body of the phones are where are the differences lie.

    I’m 60 years old and have been working on cars and Farm equipment since I was seven years old. I went straight to Mercedes-Benz and Volvo out of high school in 83. I have used all brands of tools. Snap On has served me well in my business of 34 years now, working on European cars. I know they cost more, but they feel better in your hand when you’re pulling on them all day, and they work. When I get on the Snap On truck and something broke, my Snap On dealer doesn’t ask me anything he either reaches and grabs me a new one and we exchange tools no questions ask or he orders me one.I keep a small balance on the truck to make sure he comes by each week in case I have something broken. Everybody has their preferences not bad mouthing any other brand. I’ve just enjoyed a career with Snap On. Cheers to all you gearheads.

      If you're talking about the 3-Ton Daytona Low Profile Super Duty. Yeah...snap ons FJ300 is the identical jack, except the Daytona is $289 (Full price, can get down to $209 or less on sale), meanwhile the Snap-On is $1,030. Even if price wasn't a consideration I like the smoother lines, color options, and less sharp edges of the Daytona.

    • @BigBear--
      @BigBear-- 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@psubondNo one ever said that Jack was "lightweight". Just lighter, than comparable 3-Ton steel jacks. That Jack weighs 63.3 Lbs, vs something like the Daytona 3-ton Low Profile Super Duty at 104 lbs, or the low-profile long-reach at like 103 lbs. If you wanted something truly lightweight should have gotten the Daytona 1.5 Ultra Low Profile Lightweight Aluminum Racing Jack at 36lbs. Or the Daytona 2-Ton Professional Racing Series Aluminum Jack at 42.7 lbs. You sacrifice a little maximum lift height, but get a much lighter jack with those options, if it's something you wanted to be able to thrown around and transport more easily. Instead you got a full size standard size garage jack that's still 40lbs lighter...so not sure what you were expecting. No where in the marketing material, or the name, for that 3-Ton Pittsburgh Aluminum Jack, do they mention that the Jack itself is "lightweight". Only that it's constructed from lightweight Aluminum, meaning it's a lighter material than steel. Just sayin...

    Snap on used to be great, quality tools. The problem was, the cheap tools were exactly that. Cheap quality. Now, cheaper tools are much better quality than they used to be. When i started working at the dealership at 19, im 39 now, i went crazy on the snap on truck 🤣. But, i knew the tools i were getting were going to hold up to the everyday demanding use better than anything i could buy at the local store. But after about 7 years, tools from the "cheaper" brands were becoming better and better. They eventually got to the point that spending $600 for a tool set from snap on didnt mean better quality anymore. It was just a huge mark up because of a name. Snap on has fallen off the last 5 years. I was a big snap on guy. Anyone who wrenches daily knows they are not what they used to be. The ones screaming everyone is wrong is in denial because Snap On had made a fortune off of them and no one wants to look like a fool. Stop giving snap on your hard earned money and be mad at them for making crap products!

    The wrench that is holding versus the one that is applying pressure that where the magic happens. In the video it appeared to me that the snap on wrench was always the wrench holding and the gearwrench was always the one applying the pressure therefore it was the one that twisted around the nylon nut. Whatever wrench is applying the pressure i would imagine will always let go on a nylon nut. Or at least that's what I've seen every time the test was done no matter the wrench that's applying the turning force it will be the one to round off the nut.

    The second part of the test snapon doesn’t slip. The harbor freight is the one that slips In your video. The nut stays with the HF because if slipped bad like the snapon did at first. Play it back. I purchased a harbor freight set and tried it on 15mm grade 8 bolt and the HF teeth ripped off and the chrome was damaged. This test snap-on came up with is stupid and gimmicky unless the car you’re working on is full of nylon nuts and bolts. I like the fact that there’s a cheaper alternative but it does fail sooner than the snap-on in my test on real bolts. My worn daily used older flank drive plus snapon slips sooner than the harbor freight but a brand new snapon beats the brand new HF. Unfortunately the HF fails mechanically when it slips.
