I feel like Leona may be the closest to fully controlling it. She sat out XI due to the events of '03, solely for that reason. Ever since her canonical return, you can even see her hair glow when she spends anything more than a gauge on a super! I'm waiting for Goenitz to return and attempt to activate her blood riot again. She'll rip his throat out!
I'd love to see a canon fight between them!
@@ShoryuGameYes, I think Leona needs the opportunity to train with Ryu and Oro. They can teach how to combine her Orochi form with Senjustu. Senjustu has the ability to merge with and temper the Orochi power’s negative influence. This will give Leona the edge she needs to take down Goenitz in combat. Street Fighter and The King of Fighters writers definitely need to work together.

I had a friend who was worried that Iori would die in a future game and his little sister who has never made an appearance just mentioned would replace him but I don't think he has to worry about that.
Aoi Kusanagi was a great character in KOF Kyo bit of a suprise she never got sprites seeing as even the rival group for Kyo had them. She'd make a great addition to the cast imo and as you mentioned isn't worse then "Kyo clones" :P One thing tho I think her flames are blue not purple. Caused by the combination of the Yagami and Kusanagi flame but I may be mistaken. I do think her origin story could be tweaked a bit though, maybe something like making her a half Yagami half Kusanagi? Just a thought.
you could have talked about the souji kusanagi case, the fact that kyo became the hair of the kusanagi clan because souji kusanagi resumed fighting after he felt into a state similar to the riot of blood due to overtraining.
People talking like the riot of the blood is the state in which iori and Leona goes into a feral rage mode. They clearly don't understand the riot of the blood refers to the players when they get to any SNK boss

Man, anytime you see anyone involved with the Riot of the Blood, you can guarantee someone going beast mode. The coughing of the blood, the brutal specials, people going crazy, it just adds intensity. I also didn’t know that Kyo has a cousin. Would be interesting to see how she will affect the Kusanagi clan, considering they are usually the foil to the Yagami clan. Thanks for another lore video, Shoryugame!
The Iori lore is why I found this channel to begin with, so seeing it come up is almost nostalgia inducing, really reminds me of my first encounter with the greatest KOF historian on YT!

Not gonna lie, even though this gifted power up is dangerous. It’s still quite cool. Given that Orochi Leona and Iori are two of my favorite characters.
There is another thing that remain in history of kof,If the resurrected orochi(Chris body) is already strong then how powerful His true form is,I can't imagine that.
Or that is already his true form. Keep in mind Orochi is technically not a person. But more of an evil entity. He needs a host to materials himself and cause destructions. Considering Orochi Chris’s psychokinesis power is at peak level he is totally a competent host for Orochi to draw out his full potential.
Unless you want the kof crew fighting a giant eight headed snake like his original Japanese lore.

Personally I like playing the Orochi versions. I think if they came into XV the one thing they could do is make them both glass cannons. Crazy speed, damage, but the lowest defense out of the whole cast. As do Aoi, I’d like to see an intro reaction between her and Iori

I remember freaking out in the arcade when the background went completly red and that god dammed heart beat sound started, truly something that could not be duplicated now.
I like the idea of a potential Blood Riot Team with Leona, Iori and that third character. Maybe using the Goeneitz infused kid from the second GBA game give him his own style normaly and in riot mode give him some of Goe's moves
Those teammates Iori had in KOF Ex 2, what if you introduced them in Mainline as relatives of Iori. MOE can be Shingo's cousin (I doubt she will ever be his girlfriend). Reiji Ooyama could also be there just not as the male version of of Mai but a cool single dad who is taking care of his daughter likely to Chizuru's successor

I heard in a Thorgi’s Arcade retrospective video that he has too many clothing tropes but two of them (the headphones and bandaged hands) were related to containing Verse’s power within Shun’ei. What redesign would make him acceptable?

The Riot of the Blood is a terrifying power to possess. I can see why Iori and Leona struggle to control this curse. The Riot of the Blood is almost the same as both the Devil Gene from Tekken and the Satsui No Hado from Street Fighter. I feel like the only Mystical power that can rival the Orochi Blood is the Mu No Ken, the Power of Nothingness.

Aoi is biker tomboy who kind of resembles a character from Rival Schools called Akira, she was a DLC member of Street Fighter 5. But other than that it depends on whether SNK wants to use characters from KOF Kyo in the main line story. If SNK decides to then she can be a good fit though I'd prefer if her moveset was bit different from Kusanagi styles, give her some of Moe Habana's moveset. I do love Kyo clones so... Hey it's my choice.

Wow that Manga I got to check out love the Lore we got for I always knew of one of Iori’s ancestor whom accepted Orochi’s power witch was a curse to the Yagami clan from Mother’s dying at child birth and the Heirs not living long its kool it is covered in some media and I always wanted to see the ancestors of the Sacred Treadures Team when they sealed Orochi in his true Demonic form. But I digress I remember in KOF 97 how unsettling it was fighting Orochi Iori or Leona with the blood red background and unkept beat it seems like your playing a Creepypasta game though a lot of people complain about that music in 97 being lackluster and bland but the creepiness is prevalent from the Mid Boss fight with Wild Iori or Leona to the intro after you beat Team Orochi when Chris getting possessed by Orochi and the Orochi Theme is playing witch is pretty creepy sounding, its like your walking into a crazy cult that want to dismember you on an Altar but for me that is the charm of KOF 97 was the creepiness it made the game more Dark as it should be cause your fighting Orochi and his subordinates. Some the best moments of the Riot Of The Blood was when Goenitz activates it in Iori in his 96 Team ending where he kills Mature and Vice in an instance, I also love Leona’s ending in 97 its so powerful she is about to end her life seeing herself as a harmful being and the trauma of her past only for Ralf and Clark like friends stick up for her and tell her she is not alone this time and even hearing Gaidel’s voice tell her its not her fault easily one of the best endings Ralf and Clark aren’t just teammates they are true friends.
They are her brother figures.
A team Riot of the Blood would be sick. If they do have Kyo's cousin, make her like fireball Kyo

I would love to see another Yagami enter the game. Iori has been rather one dimensional, with his focus solely being defeating Kyo, but there seems to be this grudging respect that has formed where he never truly will defeat him. It would be good to give him another focus, maybe mentor a young cousin who is also susceptible to the riot. Kyo's sister who chose to be Orochi would be a awesome story! Would the mix of the riot curse and Kusanagi in one body be a better vessel for Orochi to return in? What also would be awesome would be to see Yamazazki either have a riot blood super or better yet, a riot of the blood taunt that makes him stronger as he laughs it away.

That was a great story, indeed. Gameplay wise, for a moment when I first played KOF '98 at normal difficulty at the arcade where I used to go, I thought that Awakened Orochi Chris would be nearly invincible when I teamed him up with Saisyu and Rugal-which is my favorite pairings with Orochi Chris, it's a good thing to know that as playable characters that Orochi Chris does have flaws, just like his default team mates at their awakened states if being used incorrectly. I always thought that if you use a boss character in any fighting game you would win and beat the game easily, which is certainly not the case.😁
I don't think the Yasakani jewel was the cause of Iori's RotB per se. I think Ash just easily neutralized Iori by beating him at his weakest if anything. If the Yasakani treasure was to blame for the rampage then Ash would have also suffered the same thing too, but he didn't. Hell, if he didn't bring the Orochi curse from Iori, the flames would have stuck to crimson red since that was the original Yasakani trait.
Iori was born with Orochi blood, and that Orochi blood is what gives him the RotB form, not the treasure itself. We can see this being evident in a lot of Claw Iori's supers, maybe his only two supers lol. He concentrates his rage and rampage to his attacks which depict his extreme feral nature despite hating violence. Also, he does all that without flames, which means that Iori will always inherently have RotB.
Now that Orochi's resealed, Iori's rampage is now even more controllable. He still goes apeshit, but voluntarily.
The idea of Leona using Riot of the Blood as an install as per 2002 is a good idea (put it on a timer instead), but Iori's fine as he is mostly.
This could better display the difference of control between the two.

Yeah, that's Orochi's voice. And it's not there against the Orochi team because Orochi wouldn't attack his followers.
@@ShoryuGame Do find it interesting how he's able to talk a bit more normal in the Riot this game when in past stuff it seems like the most he can say is Kyo's name. Wonder if its something to do with what Mature and Vice say in the Yagami team ending of 14 or how in 14's manga they try to make him the new host for Orochi.

There is a mistake there, in the Gaiden manga it shows Magai didn't make a pact with Orochi, the other guy from the clan broke the seal and then Orochi's blood was forced into Magai's body after getting beaten badly on the prison IIRC
What you said is true. But it's only true for the alternate timeline Shingo time traveled to. We know that Shingo's arrival changed some of the events, even though the end result was more or less the same as the original timeline. From this, and from the past backstories SNK released in the 90's, we can infer that Magai did indeed make a deal with Orochi in the original timeline. This is because his wife's body was found in Kusanagi grounds in the OG timeline, which would have fueled Magai's hatred. But Shingo was there to witness Mature and Vice take the woman away in the alternate timeline, thus removing Alternate Timeline Magai's motivation to wilfully make a pact with Orochi.
In another manhua series, K has part of soul of Orochi, the untainted good one.
Very interesting video, it would be cool if you could cover the clones its very interesting ( k' and kula being human while kyo replicas being robots, with maxima being a cyborg and k9999 a mix of all the above)
The replicas used to be human clones. A couple of them were self aware which is why the new ones in the manga are robots. Igniz got tired of people betraying N.E.S.T.S. I hope they bring them back. Team 3 Kyos! There was one "clone" who was created with the yata mirror and not by N.E.S.T.S. though, Kusanagi.
K' and Maxima are not clones. They're modified people who had lives before N.E.S.T.S. Not sure about Kula. There were apparently a bunch of girls who were being used as experiments with ice powers, but idk if they're clones of an original(girl or girls) or if they were individuals kidnapped/coerced/whatever N.E.S.T.S. was doing to acquire test subjects.
As I understand it,
K' and Kula were normal humans before NESTS modified their DNAs
Whip is the clone of K's sister, Seirah.
Krizalid is K's clone.
K9999 is a bio android (like Cell in Dragon Ball)
Maxima and Angel are cyborgs.
Kyo-1, Kyo-2 and Kusanagi (the one made by NESTS) are not robots but human clones with self aware.
I still don't understand why SNK decided to use the term 'Clones' for NESTS's creations if they are not actual clones.
It is as bad as Dragon Ball using the term Android for all Dr. Gero's creations when we all know #17 and #18 are cyborgs NOT androids.

Gero got tired of the problem of obedience of his creations (#17 and #18) so he went back to make actual androids full mechanic (#19) who was weaker but more loyal

@MegaNinten 007 yeah, I wish they'd use the correct terms too. This whole thread has made me realize the N.E.S.T.S. Saga had the most new characters and is probably the hardest to explain to people who don't play KOF. Like explaining Zero and Clone Zero and how Clone Zero has a mustache and doesn't look like the person he was cloned from, because he can shape-shift and was disguised as Heidern's friend who he killed and replaced would probably result in confusion. Not to mention all the various betrayals. The Orochi Saga is so much easier to summarize.
Shun Ei, the child raised by Tung Fu Rue and cousin of Iori...this would make for an interesting turn of events as weird as it sounds.

KOF and mostly all of SNK’s fighting games have such strongly written lore. Underrated, but mostly due the lack of what at the time could be implemented due to hardware limitations. They definitely without it being an opinion have always had a more consistent and overall ‘tangible’ push for a story element. Street Fighter, as much as I love that series followed too many repetitive plots. SNK with the exception of a few fighters (no company is perfect 😂) does a stronger job of plot versatility.

6:50 The more I look at Aoi's design the more I realize that she looks like a female version of Shotaro Kaneda from AKIRA. Even her motorcycle looks like Kaneda's.
Knowing how much the original SNK loved doing AKIRA references in KOF since KOF 94, it wouldn't be a surprise if that was intentional.
There is another Kusanagi who is even more obscure and forgotten than Aoi and that's *Joe Kusanagi*
He is from Aggressors of Dark Kombat/GANGAN.
*Kisarah Westfield* from Neo Geo Battle Coliseum (NBC) is also from that game.
In fact, there were plans to make Joe playable in NGC
In a Q&A on the official NBC website, a question was asked about if Joe is related to Kyo, in response to the question they said that Joe's relation to Kyo is unknown.
Joe made a cameo in KOF 2002UM in the Japan Highschool Stage.
Aggressors of Dark Kombat was made by Alpha Denshi, they no longer exist and all their IPs (like 'World Heroes') are now SNK's properties, that's why we saw Kisarah, Fuuma, Hanzo, Mudman, Neo Dio in Neo Geo Battle Coliseum and years later we saw Jeanne in SNK Heroines.
If dragon ball z played apart, I reckon stardust breaker would separate and destroy the riot of the blood.
It's fascinating how 2 characters that rarely appeared in the mainline KOF games are more popular than some characters... COUGH COUGH (SHUN EI!)
From the difference here is that Leona was able to control her Orochi Power while Iori still to this Day has no control of his Orochi Power,
But in terms of Canon, Orochi Iori is more Stronger and Powerful than Orochi Leona.
Leona is the daughter of a Hakkeshuu deserter named Gaidel (Earthly King of Water), who may have had considerable control of his cursed blood.
Iori hails from one of three ancient clans that had sealed Orochi (sent to carry out Gaia's will to cleanse the earth of mankind), but not from any of the eight Kings loyal to Orochi.
In canon normal iori is stronger than orochi leona,orochi iori is a overkill
I want to know why Yamazaki is one of the 8, why he’s immune or not effected, and why leave him alone. Seems like the 8 just let him do his own thing without any service to Orochi. 🤷🏿♂️

Just unroll the one pant leg, get rid of the random tie, and either actually wear the jacket or remove it and he'd have a cleaner design.
Also change his hair color.

And since the headphones were taken out at the ending, that leaves 4 out of 7 left (3 if he does put on the jacket, or just 2 if he removes the bandages on his hands if he doesn’t need them to contain Verse anymore).

I don't even think Iori met Rugal in KOF 95, the Japan Team were the ones who defeated Rugal (again)

There is a KOF fangame called *'MUGENGERS 4'* and it kinda does that feature you mention not only for Iori and Leona but for other characters that have a transformation like Rugal, the Orochi Team, etc.
