Slapped Maxxis Detonator 26x1 tires, at palit ng road cassette (Sora). Wala akong pera kasi for a 2nd bike... This time though, medyo nabalik trail tendencies ko, but still at 60% road 40% trail. So kabilang direksyon naman sa hybridization gagawin ko, like your build sir. Maxxis Pace tires, Sagmit 42t 9s cassette, at shemps... Dropbar cockpit. Salamat sa 12.12 at nakakuha ako ng 3x9 Sora dual control levers (yes, I use all three chainrings).

That fork is not suspension-corrected. Won't the head tube being lower and the subsequent smaller steering trail geometry make it super twitchy to handle? Plus now the handlebars are narrower. To each their own, I suppose...
Nice conversion. Personally I'd prefer the black frame MTB with drop bars. I'm gathering components to convert my Specialized Sirrus Elite Disc to drop bars.

Do you have to change the derailer or can you just find compatible shifters. My bike is an 18 speed 2x9 hybrid on 700 wheels and I want to know if I can just change the bar and controls as I like the rest.

start with semi slick tires or gravel tires, kung more on-road ka, go for less rolling resistance. 35 to 40c, pinaka ideal na nagamit namin kahit saang MTB, salpak lang then go na. Shempre need mo din ng 35-45c na innertubes.

Road shifter/lever they have short pull while Tourney is an MTB brake that requires linear/long pull. Any mushy/weird braking experience, or does it work fine?

Absolutely, bit hard to find but have you tried just going 2x with larger cogs? anyway, sample groupset with 3x usually has 03 at the end. Like Shimano 105 series 5703

Mate, for Giant Talon 2016, the 4700 fits just right, no spacer needed or any weird adjustments. Let me post a close up picture of the crankset / bottom bracket area.

Alivio ang crankset nito dati, okay lang din, medyo bitin nga lang pag roads na naka drop kasi yung tiagra is 50t yung big chain ring. tendency sa Alivio ko na luma since 32t lang yung pinaka malaki ko is nag iispin ako sa roads. yung tiagra kasi is 36 50t then yung cog is Deore na 11 36. kaya okay lang kung handle bar (brakes shifter incl) ang papalitan, it will all boil down to saan mo madalas gagamitin yung bike and kung saan tayo magiging comfortable. yung setup nito is para sakin pinaka comfortable. sa 35c na tires, it can go on 150+ kms ride (road / gravel mix) ng wala mashadong sumasakit sa katawan ko.
May konting difference sa MTB ang gravel bike kasi sa gravel.bike di mo kelangan masyado travel ng suspension like 100mm o 160mm saka gravel.bike dapat comfy sya sa long rides pero puede mo pa rin magawa aero position. Opinion lang mga kapadyak! Ride safe

budget build to chief, 2nd hand lahat halos, wala pa 25k nagastos (based sa presyo ng mga parts today) pero dati nasa 15-18k lang nagastos namin. (wala labor kasi kami na gumagawa)
solid sa long rides ang drop bar, ang ngalay part is depende sa size ng bike, nakaka ngalay ang mashadong maliit at mashadong malaking frame. regardless kung road or MTB. sa setup na to pati sa luma naming gravel bike, nakakapag 150kms plus kami ng enjoy na ride, parang naka road bike lang din na may onting rough capabilities.

Nice job converting your MTB to Gravel bike ! I did a slightly different conversion by fitting a Giant SR/PR Road Wheelset wearing Conti 700x42c Gravel tires to my 2020 Hyper Explorer 1x9 - 29er MTB: th-cam.com/video/8Zp3vm_n360/w-d-xo.html It works very well and the bike is transformed back to MTB by swapping the wheelset. Not sure that the front derailleur is compatible with the left lever.
Deore XT 2x (m8025) is working perfectly.

i stick with the same derailleurs that came with the groupset. but Deore at XT will work on most road shifters.

grx sti to deore RD should work, make sure lang na road ang gamiting mo cogs. di ko lang sure sa frame part, di pa ako naka gamit ng fat bike

solid sa long rides ang drop bar, ang ngalay part is depende sa size ng bike, nakaka ngalay ang mashadong maliit at mashadong malaking frame. regardless kung road or MTB. sa setup na to pati sa luma naming gravel bike, nakakapag 150kms plus kami ng enjoy na ride, parang naka road bike lang din na may onting rough capabilities.

I did a slightly different conversion by fitting a Giant SR/PR Road Wheelset wearing Conti 700x42c Gravel tires to my 2020 Hyper Explorer 1x9 - 29er MTB:

It works very well and the bike is transformed back to MTB by swapping the wheelset.
