    Excellent! I've never found a huge top speed difference, but the gain in torque (pulling power) is significant! Now give her a good paint and decal job. She deserves it! Best 2 stroke outboards ever made in my opinion.

    Hey you made me famous there for a minute! Lol. That outboard sounds so sweet now! That was a fantastic upgrade. Like someone else on here said, if you mess around with some different props you can probably tweak even more out of it. But I was smiling about as much as you were during that run! You should be able to pick up the 12v power from the hot side of the battery disconnect if there's one or the hot side of the ignition switch.

    • @THISOLDOUTBOARD1
      @THISOLDOUTBOARD1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Yeah, biggest problem is running the wire to the batteries and the other problem is she keeps the battery disconnect switch to off position when not in use, so no full time power at ignition. I need a wire puller thing that electricians use. Thanks again & Stay tuned !

  • @RustyShakleford1
    @RustyShakleford1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    what pitch prop do you have on it? it sounds like it could push a bigger one now with the new carbs

    • @THISOLDOUTBOARD1
      @THISOLDOUTBOARD1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey. I've put several different props on it. Probably did about 5 vids on props. Finally put in a tach too. The original prop that came on it was a 13 x 19. I was just about hitting 40 mph, probably 39.9 Hahaha. Well that prop started to spin out, I had no idea at the time until I did a gps run and lost 4-5 mph. Anyway that original prop outperformed all the other props I tried. Turned out that it was no longer 13 diameter, it had been shaved down over the years and was at 12 1/2 diameter, no telling what the actual pitch was after being shaved. So the new props were 17 and 19 pitch, 13 diameter, but never ran close to the original one. RPM's were to high or two low. The thing about the original prop was the Rake it had, very long rake. It really lifted the boat out out the water. I recently bought another prop on ebay, same part number as the original, it looked great, but it also had been shaved down over the years and didn't come close to the original one. Over an inch had been shaved off but I'm using it. Doin 35-36 mph at around 5500 rpm's. Thanks for watching and commenting ! Stay tuned !

    • @THISOLDOUTBOARD1
      @THISOLDOUTBOARD1  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey. Thanks for tuning in. I dont see why not. but you may want to check the high speed orifice sizes. if both sets of carbs have around the same size jets you may be wasting your time, and you wont notice much change. You'll wanna use the carbs with the biggest throats and use the biggest jets in them. do some comparisons on the intakes too. Thanks again !

    • @THISOLDOUTBOARD1
      @THISOLDOUTBOARD1  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey. the 2 marks on the throttle cam are for setting the slow speed timing. the cam follower or roller shouldn't touch the cam, until you advance the throttle handle, the roller should start to make contact with the cam just as it passes the first mark and the carburetors butterflies should start to open as the roller is between the 2 marks.

It will just drive you crazy! Best bet is an omc manual with troubleshooting specific for your model. If you don't already have one try ebay for a good used one. You've got a lot on your hands with that outboard. Hopefully its something simply.
