This is gonna be a great fathers day gift for my dad! Thanks Sootch!
Every time I watch one of your reviews I want what you are reviewing.
I like that one. The gears make a big difference and true needle nose pliers is a plus.
This is exactly what I've been looking for. In Ohio knives can be problematic due to varying local ordinances, but a tool is much easier to justify in most places. Perfect!
Looks like a sweet lil tool! Not sure if I would carry it on my belt for EDC but surely could if you wanted! Excellent review as always!
I like the slimness of it. Nice.
Top notch info and love the hands on and action shots!! Thank you!
As usual Sootch, a fine video...
Thanks......
Excellent review as always :)
Diggin the tweezers in the multitool. Seems like I'm always using the tweezers in my swiss. Pulled a bee stinger out of my sons foot the other day.
Nice review Sootch, it looks and sounds like a pretty solid piece of equipment.
I was wondering what multi-tool to get, now thanks to you Sootch, I think I've found a pretty good one for starters.
Great review.
Thought I was watching a Discovery Network show or something.
Really cool!!
Looks like a nice tool. The SOG Powerlock system does have some advantages, especially in an urban setting, but for overall usefulness, especially in the outdoors, I haven't yet used a MT that can compete with the Leatherman Charge TTi, the Charge AL (not the ALX!), the Surge, the Wave or the compact Juice Xe6. Their combination of tools, especially on the Surge & Juice Xe6, is just about perfect for outdoor use. With the Charge AL & TTi you lose the awl, but you gain premium 154CM or S30V steel respectively for the fine edge knife blade. The Wave is essentially a more budget friendly version of the Charge AL, but it's still a great MT.
I have both the Charge TTi & the Surge in my collection. The Charge is the more compact of the two and is my EDC multi-tool, but when I'm heading into bush it's the Surge that most often accompanies me. For some reason both of them have both a bit driver (the Charge TTi has both large & small bit drivers) and a 'medium screwdriver'. I modified the unneeded medium screwdriver on both of them by sharpening it into a chisel, thereby making it useful. :)
Thanks for the video.
Don't think this would replace my Leatherman Wave but maybe folks who don't have a MT might like it!
Very good review!
Nice tool and review!
Very nice. Thanks
Excellent tool buddy
Thank you. I have been looking for an analog to the Leatherman Wave.
Great review, I'm really liken that power ratchet feature, and the size of the knife blade. Thanks :-)
Like It!!......great vid
Ιs amazing multi tool, i bought yestrady, greetings from Greece, thx for video.
"Impulse-buy alert!!!" he said in a sing-song voice.
Was thinking of picking myself up one seeing my leatherman is out for warranty and i go Nutz w/o a Good EDC pocket tool!
Great review I like the Sog power duo looks very ergonomic with the can opener I may not need my P38 thanks.
I also forgot to mention I am on a little bit of a budget, and I plan on spending a little more on the BCG and the barrel. So if I could save on the hand guard that would be nice!
Thanks AGAIN!
I like the mid length gas system because its a little softer shooting. I have a lot of carbine lengths that work fine but Mid will give you an edge. Check out the ATI Free Float Forend. It's high quality and has a ton of features but the price is sweet. ATI Strikeforce AR-15 Stock & Free Float Handguard
Cool. ..good vid.
They are nice....I have the Brushed Stainless model with the clear scales....
Added to my Father's Day suggestions lol
Haha I didn't even realize it had the tweezers and the tooth pick until I saw this video and I've had it for a while
A late comment but I only found out this existed today via HVACBudget channel. It looks great especially as it has an inline Phillips SD, and the SOG compound leveraging on the pliers. However according to the review I saw today it was plagued with cracking handles, typical SOG QC issues letting down their great design, which is a shame. Hope yours held out okay.
I have thus one based on this video and a few more. it clips onto my sling bag and has never come off. I use it a ton. love it. I am looking at a Gerber Center Drive, but most reviews are showing a lot of issues. maybe you can do a review on it.
Great video looks like a good multi-tool going to check amazon to see if it's cheaper
This is one of my favorite channels, any chance you could do. Video on your whole collection? Would be interesting.
Even though I'd love to show my collection, it's not going to happen.... too many prying eyes. Thanks my friend.
I wish my Leatherman Skeletool had a can opener.
You need to get it from me sometime and do a comparison, brother!
Damn it Sootch. I was hoping to go this entire without having to buy something. Time to get bust out the card and get to ordering.
I keep the SOG seal pup on my hip as a daily carry
tomorrow..it comes tomorrow :) i look forward to use it at work...i hope it performs as well as i think
Needs a pocket clip. If I'm carrying a multi tool in a sheath it might as well be full size. I carry the Gerber Crucial at the moment. I like this one better than the other SOG spring loaded pliers multi tool because of the knife being accessible without opening the tool.
wow I was thinking about getting a leatherman but this so beats it
i bought this tool from the lowes by my house for something like 60-65 dollars and i liked it for a while but leatherman is the way to go for me but sog does make a damn good tool
I'm not a fan of the slide lock on multi tools. I used a Gerber FAST multitool before switching to my leatherman wave. The Gerber also has one of these slide locks to lock/unlock the blade. The problem is, with heavy use, dirt and dust gets into it any the slide sticks. I was building a shed and was using the blade for some small things and it just got dirty from all the grit and the lock mechanism wouldn't lock anymore even after i tried to clean it out (the unibody design did not help, was a pain to dismantle.) Good thing gerber has a good warranty, so I was able to get another one, but I'm not planning to get another multitool with these slide to lock blades again. Maybe with light use/EDC, as Sootch suggested, it may fair better. Liner locks are definitely the way to go.
Nice
nice bit a kit
I'd buy it if the cutter heads were replaceable like all the new Leathermans.
I hate to go against the crowd, but am I the only one that would prefer to carry a dedicated folder and dedicated multitool?
Its a cool concept though!
But I love the thought of my multitools being a backup blade !
That seems like a good tool, and I like all of the SOG products I have owned or used so far. But for the price, I think Leatherman Supertool 300 is better, hands down. My Leatherman has a lot more tools, replaceable cutter inserts, a saw, a wood file, a metal file, and the knife blade is high carbon steel.
Hey sootch this doesn't have anything to do with this video, but I am doing an AR build and I was wondering your thoughts on carbine vs. mid-length gas systems. Also do you know of any good quality free float mid-length hand guards?
Love the vids, Thanks!
I am gonna be singing Back in Black all day now, thanks! LOL
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap :)
***** and i am gonna share this video with all my peep's sootch ... Friend you make some of the best video for us older folks to enjoy thank you so much and i cant tell you how much i have leaned from you !!! .............................. Z
DJ ZADOK Thanks Brother~ It's much appreciated!
OH Great! what looks a perfect multitool for my needs, but because I live in the UK it is illegal because the blade locks!!!
This looks AWESOME! *****, is it possible (after taking the knife down) to switch the blades around to put them in a different order? I'm left-handed, and would like to blade on the other side.
I keep telling my wife that the only thing I wish my Swiss Army Knife had was a pair of pliers... This fits the bill.
I also wish this had a pocket clip... Are the torx screws long enough to where I'd be able to slip a pocket clip in there?
That's it Sootch I'm telling leatherman your cheating on them!! Lol. Nice tool, great video as always.
nice peace of kit mate ,, maybe when I get some money together lol
looks like only the tip connects on the pliers
Is this discontinued? I never seen this one
Checked the SOG website...these are made in China. That is an instant no-go from me. Thanks for the review Sootch but I have been burned too many times to continue to buy Chinese. There are other options.
Be careful cutting something hard, it might give, and smash your palm between the blade and handle. Really hurts. Most useful tool in this package is the tooth pick, and the pouch works as a spare mag pouch in a pinch also.
I would really like to see a clip on it so it can be kept in my pocket. A sheath is just another bulky thing to have on me.
Great review as always, but for the price there are much better options out there.
$46 on Amazon.
a+++
I wonder if anyone ever added scissors to this?
Really. =)
Definitely a pair of pliers rather than a knife because for 15% of the population the knife looks awkward to deploy and no one has a multi tool in their knife collection.
Lol ACDC \m/
Hmm...seems to be good. But god that thing is ugly! I think I'd go with a leatherman wave, same price point, and a lot smaller. You won't get the griping, that you will with this, but for EDC, I think if be ok with that.
Don't buy this from the SOG website. Half the price on amazon or ebay.
Nice tool! I'll check it out!!
