    one thing I would put in any bag that I could be out and have to survive for a long time is a second pair of socks. because if your out running around or if it's just hot your feet could get wet or sweaty and that can cause foot fungus. you always take care of your feet.

    • @KingOfBattle119
      @KingOfBattle119 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      This. So many people overlook foot care. They won't be doing anything tactical with half-dollar size blisters on their feet, trying to carry 40 lbs or more. Shit gets old real quick.

    • @AnthonySforza
      @AnthonySforza 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Oh no kidding. I remember getting to Afghanistan with brand new boots (The camel color) and had a huge blister on my foot... kind of like where if it were the hand, it'd be below where the middle finger is. Then, deciding to keep going, ended up getting a blister inside that one. I had no idea that was possible.

    • @RideEasy21
      @RideEasy21 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      My military training advises me to keep a good weapons cleaning kit handy, so that is what I do. If he is ever in a sandy environment or muddy environment he will have to clean the shit out of that rifle, no matter how much ammo he has. I wouldn't want to bet my life on a plain t-shirt and some random oil.

      yep no rifle is worth ashit w/ out a cleaning kit.... a decent one at that. people go for the sectioned rod kits for bags.... I personally would never stick one down the barrel of any of my weapons. Not a big fan of the snakes either but I keep them in my bag for the simple fact they pack easier than a rod. At home use a full length rod.... on the move, have and know how to use a snake.... sectional rod, only use if you get dropped in the jungle into a swamp and your rifle was buried in the mud and that sectional rod was the only thing you had to clean the bore with lol

    It's a $250 duffle bag...
    I bought some generic $20 duffle at dicks that's been with me on three different continents for several years now. Its big enough to carry my tavor, plate carrier, helmet, and a ILBE assault pack.
    But you're missing two VERY important things: Food and Water.

And the ultralight bags at REI rip easily if loaded with minuteman equipment. Thats the rub, we all want extremely sturdy & durable, very lightweight, but doesnt cost much and isnt a trashbag with shoulder straps.

    My "loadout" bag is actually a tuff box. I picked up a couple of the camo Plano boxes last year at Wal Mart during a black Friday sale. I have one kit with my AR, and one kit with my AK. I have everything from MRE's, to fighting clothes, small aid bags, all my mags, my main fighting rifle, and my sidearm. I like them because they're air tight as well.

    Excellent review Sootch! My 2 cents. Of all the bags you may create and deploy, this is the bag that stands the least chance of every being deployed, so build the bag accordingly. Its one of those bags you "set it and forget it". The chances theres a situation where you need to be walking around town with body armor and an AR15 with 10 magazines on you is pretty much slim and none. The far more likely situation is grid issues, hydration, food, medical, currency, etc and you're staying put in your house and holing up. Because 99 times out of 100, you're better off staying put than bugging out anyway. Roof over your head, neighbors to combine vigilance and safety, location familiarity, comfort of home, and massive existing stockpiles of stuff you dont have to carry anywhere. And its far easier to protect oneself in their own home than it is walking through urban streets or bushes. The only time you are literally gonna abandon all hope and hit the road and grab a Minuteman Bag is when you are about 3-4 hours from feeling like you will be as dead as fried chicken unless you leave the house. We are talking Russian paratroopers, dirty bombs, gas, terrorists, LA Riots, massive fire or earthquake, i.e. your current location is a veritable death zone. But, the chance that ever happens is infinitesimally small. If you cant afford to put together a Minuteman Bag, Id focus on other bags and just stockpiling/fortifying your current residence. When in doubt, always stay where you are if you can. Even when things get ugly. If you got the bucks however, definitely create a MM Bag. Since its the absolute last straw sort of bag, you cant "overdo it". Its a truly live or die, kill or be killed, armageddon, hell on earth, every man woman and child for themselves sort of situation where the only rule is there are no rules. Not even humanitarian ones. Its a Red Dawn bag.

    WHAT IS MISSING. ..great vid. . awesome. I wish I had the resources to build one. The only thing I would add is some high calorie bars some sort of dehydrated protien some almonds and some bee pollen. After a few hours of a situation adrenalin runs out and you get confused. A quick couple bites can keep you making the right choices. God Bless...

      +premiercconstruction Food resorts your brain to a parasympathetic mode, which shuts down motor skills and cognitive thinking to direct more blood to digestion. This is why sleep coma exists and why only people who have no idea about diet say "breakfast is the most important meal of the day". Only eat food once the threats are down, and you have shelter. Water is the only thing you need constant use of.

    This Grey Man concept is funny. Sounds good on paper. But everyone knows every dude doing this will look tactical in some way ie 5.11 pants, pack, something to give them away and is of no use. The grey man is just the WROL operator and will stick out like a sore thumb. Grey is the new FDE/BDU.

    • @mrmidnight32
      @mrmidnight32 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Problem is when WROL or anything that this type of this would be needed. No one is going to be playing tennis/golf or be looking like a businessman, But hey be my guest. Easy targets for me. While I target guys like you thinking you're slick with the tennis playing businessmen look in 5.11 pants and Oakley Mil-spec shades oozing "Grey Man".
      You won't even see me coming. ;)

      WTF? lol
      No, I'm prepared to survive. Dog eat dog world brotha. When you open your eyes to how it really works in REAL 3rd world countries currently, it will be worse than that 10 fold. Americas little rainbows and butterflies WROL fantasy isn't going to fly thats now how it works. To think other wise is unprepaired and ignorant.
      But go for it think your prepared with this "Grey man" internet theory. While I'll be hiding in the shadows surviving while all of you guys play operator and hero killing and getting killed until you realize it's not a game anymore but survival and this is not how you survive.
      Again more gear and loot for me :)

    • @mrmidnight32
      @mrmidnight32 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ohsnapzdawg That's just my point, I don't know shit, you don't know shit. NOBODY knows shit about this concept or situation because it has not happened and there is no physical way to know until it actually happens. So any and everything else is just speculation and a glorified guess.
      So please forgive me if I laugh at the massive holes and horrid gaps in the "facts" and "strategies" people are "teaching" and preaching regarding the "Grey Man" and every other tacticool concept which is a fucking joke. The only ones looking like wanna be IRL bad asses are the ones who have no experience or way of knowing, yet have the balls to explain in detail how the exact events and situations will unfold with absolute certainty on how to dominate the situation. All because what? they watched a few reality TV survival shows and the Walking Dead?! Blind leading the fucking blind. lmao
      Your logic is broken, this whole fad is broken. This is just a theory, to say other wise is ignorant at best. Its a joke, as is most of this operator commando tuff guy bull shit people do and feel the need to constantly utterly justify because even them, deep down know its utter bull crap. Stop playing dress up and get a clue already. Its just getting pathetic at this point. Again just the fact its already a open topic and a strategy before the event has even happened just shows that this "grey man" or "ghost tactic" is utter shit. Like does that not make any sense to you how this video is a contradiction upon it self? Do you think your special and just too covert for it to even matter!?
      But hey I guess someone needs to feed the industry, cause it sure as hell aint ganna be me lol

    Not sure what this Minuteman stuff is all about but:
    *For Civilians & even ex-military in the USA during a major emergency*
    I think (IMO) to survive in an armed conflict, a full on disaster, terrorist attack, etc. is:
    - 1st not to get into it. Disappear into the mountains or forest until it is over (hopeful that is soon)
    - If you have no choice to get into it.. you are probably finished anyway but
    having the gear in this video "modified" or non-military-ish will
    help you survive... hopefully.
    What I mean by "modified" or non-military is in the event of an emergency of
    - terrorism do you want to be the one running around in full-on military gear & showing your black rifles?
    - a natural disaster like Katrina do you want thugs & LEOs to see you in camo clothes & gear?
    - if there is someone shooting people in your area & you have to leave do you want a Combat Kit that screams:
    I got survival gear, guns, & ammo right here. You may be easily be confused with the one they are looking for.
    If you are a minority you are in an even worse position i.e stereotyped.
    So your "Minuteman Load out Combat Kit *for safety and in order not
    to draw attention* to yourself, MAKE IT LOOK NON-MILITARY.
    The load out above is *like wearing a big target on your back.* Go non-military or modified:
    - wear IWB you handgun. Make it a surprise to bad guys if they target you. This gives you the edge.
    - wear a rainbow pack or an old worn pack that no one would want to try to take it from you.
    - Put peace signs and hippie type patches on to show Police & Bad guys you might not but armed & hostile.
    - Do not wear a military helmet! Wear a construction blue or white non-military looking helmet.
    - Go with a kukri. A parang is OK but the kukri is a better fighter & more versatile in the woods.
    The biggest mistake us men make it to go the military equipment route in surviving a disaster of any sort.
    *Go undercover, non-treatening, and camouflaged as a normal citizen.* Blend in.
    Drawing attention to yourself will get you disarmed at best and is lethal at worst from LEOs & bad guys.
    FOOD for THOUGHT.

    • @sweetcostarica
      @sweetcostarica 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      giganofell Interesting that you can say: "Normally the people with load outs will be able to Handle there own."
      This Load Out is what we are agreeing on. So I do not get the sarcasm.
      Since no one can know what the future holds, what kind of natural disaster, terrorist attack, 9/11, Florida, Dallas, etc. by retreating to a safe place like a safe room, a mountain cave, the deep woods and waiting the emergency or disaster out is the goal.
      When you say "Handle there own" I hope you aren't talking about offense and actually trying to win some kind of battle. Because that is a little strange to think that way and very deadly.
      Anyway, I am not being negative to you by saying: *you will stick out like a sore thump in a serious situation* in full-battle gear & kevlar helmet a lot more than I, in a rainbow color pack and blue jeans/ T-shirt with a bike helmet.
      Brother there are all kinds of camouflage:
      The smart kind and the not so smart or right kind.
      Food for thought.

    • @sweetcostarica
      @sweetcostarica 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      giganofell I have no idea what you are taking about.
      My "preparations steps" are many and varied for many & varied situations.
      Are you feeling OK giganofell?

    • @sweetcostarica
      @sweetcostarica 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +Braden B I am not sure why you fellows are focusing on in a major emergency:
      - "heading to the mountains" or "to stay put" topics
      - "to hide" or "not to hide" decisions
      - "2 legs" or "no legs" transportation
      that is up to you. It isn't part of what I am saying at all, just part of the example.
      Do whatever you think is best for your well being & families life in that case.
      And please, please THINK. *Many emergencies & natural disasters require you to leave your home and/or area* (floods, earthquakes, fire, some types of riots, some types of terrorist actions, etc.)
      The topic and what I am saying is again:
      "The biggest mistake us men make is to go the military equipment route in surviving a disaster of any sort.
      *Go undercover, non-treatening, and camouflaged as a normal citizen.* Blend in."

      +giganofell I am not sure why you fellows are focusing on in a major emergency:
      That is the *smart* way to protect yourself in this small but key area of preparing for an unknown major event. i.e.:
      Don't broadcast, Look at me I have military, hard to find, the latest, the top of the line, stuff. Even though you don't have this great survival gear you can get it from me by asking, taking by force, or killing.

    For all the people that THINK (you should)! Once you purchase it, you can put what ever you want in it so if you do not like what you saw going into the sootch bag then don't put it in your bag. If you think that something else should go into it then put it in your bag. For me I am going to have to get one of those spool tools (18.00 Amazon).

    AR-15's are not assault rifles. They are Arma-Lite Rifles. Thats how they recieved their AR designation. Assault is an act committed by a person. A firearm is categorized based on the sum of its components not the intent of the individual wielding it. By calling modern sporting rifles that bear a resemblance to military firearms "assault weapons" you are perpetuating misinformation from ill informed people. Do us all a favor and call the firearm what it is.

    • @ancaplanaoriginal5303
      @ancaplanaoriginal5303 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well, it's the civilian version of an assault rifle, so you can call it rifle and use it to assault a position, then it becomes an assault rifle

    • @lordemarsh6804
      @lordemarsh6804 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steven Sebes you sure are dumb, it's still an assault rifle

    • @wilsongulick4608
      @wilsongulick4608 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      An "assault rifle" has a very specific definition. It's a rifle that uses and intermediate cartridge, features a detachable magazine and, most importantly, is SELECT FIRE. That means it has a "giggle switch" that allows it to be switched from Safe to Semi-Automatic to Full-Automatic fire. If you don't believe me, go ask the DoD about it.
      If the rifle lacks any of these attributes then it is not an "assault rifle". A civvie AR doesn't have a giggle switch and therefore is not an "assault rifle", it's just a rifle that happens to look similar to an assault rifle.
      Now, you CAN own a real, honest to God "assault rifle" in the United States. It requires that you find one made or imported before 1986, pay upwards of $40K for it, fill out a ton of BATFE paperwork (Form 4, fingerprints, photographs and some other odds and ends), pay the government $200 and wait for them to process the paperwork (as of this writing about 9-10 months).
      "Assault weapon" is a made up term. It doesn't exist and is only meant to confuse the issue.

    Is it even legal to have a bag in your car like that with a tactical vest and a rifle that can be assembled within seconds?

    • @krykkatorix
      @krykkatorix 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apparently in America.
      Usually you are required to remove one vital part of any firearm to prevent a maniac from using it on you or nearby people.
      And another good question, why do you need to have an assault rifle as personal weapon? Since it is originally designed for military personell, why should ordinary citizens own assault rifles?
      I like guns, they're fun to shoot and everything but that's about it.
      If my country gets invaded, I'll just sit back with my beer and wait until the invaders asses gets frostbite or eaten by polarbears.

    • @krykkatorix
      @krykkatorix 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** i understand that you have the right to own a firearm, but does it really need to be an ar15 or m16? A 12 gauge shotgun does the trick in close quarters, were most civilians would have to use it during a "home invasion".
      Can you really trust your neighbours, that owns assaultrifles, to not go bat shit crazy and turn those same guns on you and your family?

    • @spartan6707
      @spartan6707 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      krykkatorix Have you ever shot a twelve gauge? Most inexperienced shooters can't stand the kick let alone be accurate with it. And at a close range shotguns don't have as much of a spread as you think so you can still miss if you don't know what you're doing. Also, I don't have to worry about my neighbors because I have my ar 15 so if anyone tries to break in and harm my family they're gonna get a bullet through their skull.

    Not sure I understand the Logic of all this. Why do I want to rush out with a sack full of defensive gear into the middle of whatever "Chaos" is erupting. If I lived in an area I thought I would someday need to get away from.......I would move. If some large scale catastrophe occurs, loading up your family and gear to drive 200 miles to "Mom's" house is most likely a VERY BAD idea. Remember Katrina ??? Worlds longest Traffic Jam. Sootch: I subscribed over a month ago and I'm so glad I found you, I can tell you've got a lot of knowledge to offer and I'm looking forward to watching your other videos. Thought you and other's might like to hear my load out that's evolved over 2 years of extensive backpacking. I was thinking that being anywhere near a city, medium or big would be pure suicide in most SHTF scenarios. My kit is centered around an extended stay in the mountains. Granted I live at 5k Ft. elavation, and the environment is nearly identical to Afghanistan. That being said, I'm very picky about the weight of my pack and the capabilities it contains; I'm also thinking highly of camouflage. I've hiked with my extended stay loadout less than a hundred times on both overnight and multiple day backpacking trips, and I've really narrowed down what's best for my situation. First, a chest rig is paramount to a plate carrier, I'm very confident I won't be shot at ever, and the weight and cost just isn't worth it, the cleared back of a quality chest rig (Coyote EAGLE RRV) makes carrying a 70lb backpack much more comfortable when it's on your back for days on end. On the Chest rig I carry: 6 double stacked Colt GI mags, 3 extended GLOCK 9mm mags, 2 normal capacity 9mm mags, a level 2 medic kit, a canteen, a Cold Steel SRK, and an admin pouch. My Glock 17 is in a closed top drop leg holster, all loaded with hollow points. The backpack I bought was a Kelty Falcon in Coyote Brown, it's essential that you have an aluminum frame pack to distribute all that backbreaking weight, and the color is outstanding for my environment and goes with my chest rig. In the backpack I've got all the essentials I'll need for my area, which is quite a lot considering I'm in the mountainous and desert climate; this comment is long enough and I don't want to go into details of my pack. I've got Tri-desert camo clothing for summer, and Multicam for winter; both coincide well with the coyote brown chest rig and backpack, and do outstandingly well in my area. My primary is a suppressed Kel-Tec SU-16C, 4.7 lb. collapsible 5.56 NATO semi auto with a 3-9x40 Leupold scope, the rifle also takes .223 but shoots more accurately with 5.56. A rifle chambered for .223 cannot take 5.56 NATO, it would destroy your rifle; a very heavy downside to most AR-15's, not to mention the weight of them. .22lr is too underpowered for any combat scenario IMO, the availability is rough right now, and .223 is pushing it in terms of size; the weight and size of .308 and 7.62x39 is too much to handle for extended stay. I hope anyone that read this finds this helpful and useful.
