Actually, the drinking part works in romania, even for smoking or vaping, even in highschool or school if you go outside the capus during the breaks, you can even do drugs if you are careful to not anger cops,or have sex with anyone if nobody tells the cop,the cop would probably ignore it as usual ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
@DJ_Trolly Did you not notice the global pandemic that possibly came from chinese food markets? Food markets...where there are a ridiculous number of different species being sold as food. Ie: the "zoo" part. Ffs.
As someone who lived both in America and China for over a decade, the biggest upside for me living in China is safety, like you can go anywhere at anytime you want without worrying about gangs and stuff, the biggest downside is you cant get political.
I feel 100 percent safe in America though... I feel like if I walked across my state through every city and back alley, and I would never see a thing. Beware of California, Chicago, and N.Y.C though. Those cities(/state) are dangerous to walk through.
Tony Stark If life in a country is. good then there is no reason to get political. Here in the states we argue all the time. We are loosing our freedom and happiness by building a wall of never ending arguing.
I was a philosophy major and drinking/ smoking before certain seminars etc was popular and even endorsed by some teachers as it definitely improved round table discussion; but this was a liberal arts school
@@VON824 I know. I've seen her in other videos where she smiles and talks a lot but when she's just sitting there with a neutral expression, not even looking at the camera, it's like she's a stranger and you wouldn't have known that's his wife.
She's probably tired or just doesn't want to give much to the video. Fair enough. Taking care of a baby is really fun and rewarding, but can make you quite tired sometimes.
The roof access bit is mostly about liability, litigation. In China, there is almost no litigation. If you slip and fall on a wet floor in a shop, it's your fault for being stupid to walk on a wet floor.
Guy Souriandt except China isn't communist anymore. They call themselves alt-communists because they don't want to admit that communism failed a long time ago
A store owner should make a reasonable effort to make their shop safe. But people also need some common sense. For example in Walmart I saw the worker trying to clean up a spill. The customer walked right through the spill then started screaming her shoes were ruined because he didn't clean up the spill.😕
Guy Souriandt Of course you can own a building in China, but you just can't own the land below the building. The Constitution stipulates that land can only be owned by the state or collectively You can only rent this land for 70 years. As for 70 years later, no one knows, let's talk about it later. but it's true that If you fall off the roof of a tall building, most Chinese will say it is your own fault. as we say"no zuo no die" means, if you dont play with death, you will not die.
Excellent video! I grew up in China and lived in America for 50 years , and have traveled between the two countries periodically. Everything you said in the video is not only correct but with insights. Keep up the good work !
I work at night so I walk down the street at 2am (and 12am and 4am) almost every day in America and I feel totally safe. There are a few places in America where there is a lot of gang violence and it wouldn't be too safe walking, mainly in bad areas of some of the big cities, but literally anywhere else in 99.9999% of the country you will be fine.
Haha damn dude are you that ignorant? Are you aware how fucking massive the US is? You assume there isnt ONE SPOT in all of the Country you can walk in at night and not be safe in? Hahaha damn dude, way to believe the biased ass media your country propagates.
I've never felt unsafe walking down the street in the middle of the night in Michigan, it depends on where you are. The ENTIRE country isn't like certain heavily populated cities with high crime rates.
There are many towns in the south were folks seldom even lock their doors. In Georgetown SC. You are safe at any hour. If you are a person of color just avoid the folks wearing the confederate flag.
i feel safe in thailand when i walk around the city at night.... however here in australia i would never walk around my local town when the bars are closing.... too many idiots looking for a fight
Then how is it that my friend in Jakarta gets wasted every time she goes out, or sends me pics of her and her friends drinking? And that before turning 18
+Darkness Of Hatred That's what Donald Trump is trying to change. Also now a lot more products and clothes are being made in Bangladesh and Vietnam, not China anymore.
@G S I dont think that the wet markets are to blame. I think its actually the wildlife trade thats dangerous like exotic animals all over the world sold in china. cause they carry viruses from.all parts of the world. But wet markets are harmless since they usually sell local stuff and poultr. The philippines have wet markets all over the country and its a necesity for filipinos. but You dont see pandemics comming from Philippines
Thanks very much for your videos. As a Westerner, or rather African of Western descent hahah, I've always been intrigued by China and your videos offer a very candid exploit of experiences there which I appreciate.
Alan Tao as would be expected by pretty much anyone speaking a second language. I started learning Russian and I find certain things just difficult to pronounce because we use those sounds differently in English or basically not at all! I also know some Spanish and no matter how much I try and practice I struggle to roll my R's, I can only do it slightly, Russian has rolled R's too and I struggle less replicating their rolled R's like in the word рубль (ruble) because it's more of a light roll rather than a trill, although Russian has trills too it's just not as common as the lighter rolled R, it also doesn't help that I'm from the rural south either although I don't have much of southern accent really, unless I'm intoxicated or tired, still it sort of comes out sometimes anyway and when speaking another language if this happens it can sound quite ridiculous.
It’s great to hear you explain that you can find all fresh ingredients for western food in 🇨🇳. So many westerners fall for this rumor. I wasted so much effort going to western stores for imported basil to make pesto, until I saw someone selling every variety at the local farmers/wet market in Shekou. Great video!
It's weird, as a fat person, I didn't get as upset by someone calling me fat in China as I would in the US. In China, strangers would ask without any embarrassment "are you married? how much money do you make? Are you 200 pounds?" Or they'd straight up say "wow, you're really fat!" But for some strange reason I never felt really bad about this because it was so open. Maybe it was because I was stared at all the time just for being blond and white, that I just got used to being the center of attention. Maybe it was because in the US, the remarks are always snide or whispered then followed by mean laughter or people just judge you without even being aware of their own bias; whereas in China, the comments were so open, unabashed, that it gave me a chance to say things like "Is that a polite question, 'are you 200 pounds'?" And the person would say, "sorry, no". I guess I just liked the fact that it was out in the open and not behind my back. I could be wrong, but hearing a Chinese person say "you're really fat" seemed more like a short person saying to a tall person, "wow you're really tall".
H Shepard well another way of thinking this is, not so long ago, starvation was still a problem in China. And saying somebody was fat or well built was actually a compliment, this is especially true for senior generations. Nowadays people of course don’t have that problem anymore and saying people fat is not anymore a positive, or negative statement, it’s just a statement as you mentioned the you are really tall thing. But gradually with the influence from the west, people also start to know that saying fat is really offensive to westerners. This is really a cultural thing, when something is generally regarded bad doesn’t necessarily mean it is bad to people grow up with different cultures. In China, being straight forward is not very much encouraged because it may embarrass others so people try to avoid that while Dutch people got a reputation for being straight forward and honest.
I suppose that insulting a stranger makes you feel better about yourself for a couple of seconds, but if you really want to feel better about yourself, you'll get a lot more satisfaction from being nice to people. Or try volunteer work, talking to lonely older folks, etc. That works better long term. I know that sounds sarcastic, but I'm not trying to be ironic.
Thank you & your wife for sharing your experiences & recommendations throughout beautiful China. I loved my experiences in beautiful China (Beijing, Nanjing, Changsha & Zhangjiajie, but must experience more. Again, thank you so much wish you continuous blessings.
PeugeotRocket restaurant employees are often required to do some kind of weird "team trainings" or "business culture development" by their employer in China.
PeugotRocket.....not hardly annoyed man.....like big deal!! Are you that friggin' challenged that 'any' activity in the video distracts you?? Go home moron!!
Firstly, drinking is almost for socializing purpose among family and friends on festivals in China. Chinese/Japanese/Korean culture has very strict self-discipline on alcohol, people in east Asia could get access to alcohol without limits because drinking is not a major social problem there. Secondly, it's fine to criticize CPC in China, it's OK to criticize Chinese government in China, one can even say China is poor or dirty or underdeveloped or polluted or no human rights or no freedom of speech, those statements are all acceptable and safe, the only thing one can't say in China is "Taiwan is an independent country" "make Tibet independent" "make Xinjiang independent" "Paracel Islands belong to Vietnam" "Spratly Islands belong to Philippines" "Diaoyudao Island belongs to Japan" "South Tibet belongs to India", you will definitely be sent to hospital by saying anyone of these, so NEVER TRY IT. Ensure our territory intact is the highest and only Political Correctness in China
Many western media tend to misrepresent China as some sort of Stalinist police state. No, simply talking shit about the government won't get yourself in jail. There is censorship that ban keywords like "Tiananmen Square Incident", but sophisticated netizens knows how to get around that, and there won't be any punishment beyond banning your online forum account for being politically incorrect. Certainly the freedom of speech is limited, but it is much less oppressive than some westerner may think. It is also true that the Chinese government jails a lot of political activists for saying thing they don't like, but it is not as if you as an ordinary citizen has live under a constant fear if you ever hold a unorthodox view of anything. In most of the time you can freely talked about your political view. I am from Hong Kong and I even discussed sensitive topic like China-Taiwan relation with the chinese people I meet in a hostel in China. As long as your "speech" is not getting any political momentum, the authoritative is not going to give a fuck. They get rewards only from catching high-profile activists and journalists. And yeah, that's bad that they do limit your freedom to be politically active. But the point is you shouldn't worry too much about it if you are just coming to China for tourism or for any other short-term or mid-term stay. The living experience in China is almost as free as it is in the West until you got into direct conflict with the authority.
chocolatetang it is true, everyone in China is free to complain about the government and the society. In China, people always joke each other" foreign moon is better than Chinese's" but most of Chinese people do love China. They emphasis respect. So I believe China would be a better place to live and travel in future.
After living in China (Xi'an) for 7 years, I see a few things you may have overlooked.... but I will mention only one. Only in China can you ride your electric motor-bike both on the sidewalk and/or the wrong-way down the street while texting on your phone, smoking, with your life-partner and your three children on your motorbike with you (all with no helmets, of course), while you are honking your horn for everyone to get out of your way. Are you approaching a bus with passengers getting on/off? No problem.... just plow though them.
Hahahahahahaha the bus part o gawd🤣 hated that when I had to use public transit when going to school in china, you'd literally have to stand on the "no standing" area or you wouldn't get on at busy times
Ironic the song they are playing in the background as the staff danced, was a song from the colonial period of Hong Kong asking whether life will be the same after the handover...
I used to talk shit about the government all the time when I was still in China years ago, as long as you don’t write a hate letter to the government or start a rally they know you talk shit and it doesn’t really hurt them. We don’t like foreigners do it tho coz foreigners don’t reside in China, it’s like I get to talk shit about my high school because I went there but you can’t if you from a different one.
Jamed And you don`t in west? Let me laugh about your naive thinking. West has as much dictatorship and corruption as any other country in east. Your dictators are just more discreet and i am not talking about those pawns of prime ministers or presidents. Oh i know all about west, as i am in the west, have been for 25 damn years.
@@Ram-xw4kj chinese dictators have killed more people than any political leader in history. 200mil+ people were killed. Again im not saying anything bad about china, its a wonderful place and i hope one day it is saved from corruption, but right now, it has the most tyrannical government in the world. And no we dont harvest organs in the west (more specifically the United States)
I know history, you dont have to tell me, i also lived in communist country first 15 years of my life.I also see what is going on here in west and i know what is comming our way. Right now corruption in west is lot worse than corruption in east. I can name 4-5 other govmnts on top of my head that are lot worse than Chinese govmnt.
I am exaggerating, but yes I would hope so in African countries. Unfortunately even in countries with darker populations you see a preference for folks with lighter skin. Skin lightening products are widely used in India, Africa, and the Caribbean.
you should go. i went and lived there in 2009 in Guangdong area. I was in Shenzhen. You will never get tired of that place. So many diversity even amongst themselves.
Yeah, that was a misunderstanding. But since some people are horrified by the meat choices, they jumped the gun on assuming that wet markets are dens of evil, and disease.
@IRISH MOB Resistance like that is a common way to counter the arguments against killing animals for a bit of taste pleasure. I get it, I was there. But hamburgers can be made vegan and then there's really no difference.
@IRISH MOB Doesn't matter what humans have done "since the beginning of time". We have raped and killed since the beginning of time, are those things morally acceptable just because they are natural? Sharp teeth, I guess you mean canines, well, they aren't really all that sharp, not really made to kill prey animals like a lion (fucking lol) and that doesn't refute any of the plentyful health evidence against eating meat. I'm not sucking on a pickle, I enjoy an insane variety of food, super delicious. You just have to remove the blindfolds and realize you can still have a great tasting meal three times a day.
It’s so true. The first thing my family said to me when they saw me, after flew thousands of miles of long flight, “ you got fat”. Even when I’m not fat but may have gain couple lbs. 😂
Good observations! Going from America to China has a lot of differences that our students need to know about. They will find this video useful. Thanks! If anyone wants to learn Chinese we are here to help!
Holy cow! Forget the title and topic...this is one of the best vids ive ever seen. Great visuals, production, topics, ideas and delivery. Most of all: this vid is so incredibly content dense without being rushed or irrelevant. Ive never been to China. Only lived as an American in Rome. But you cram in a lot of expat insight for fellow anericans whove lived abroad for shorter times without fully commiting to living abroad
Something I noticed in China that took my breath away was the sincerity of the people. I went to Pagoda (very trendy store chain that only sells fruit) in Shenzhen and the salesmen will go out of their way to tell you if the produce isn't at its best, and wether you should abstain from buying it. Same thing happened in a supermarket in Yantai where we were looking at the Buddha fruits and the lady who was stocking the shelves came to tell us that they were not in season, they were imports and we should wait for a few more months. I think that if any boss in any other country saw their employees doing this they would flip out, whereas it is encouraged in China and very appreciated !
Really? not for me. I'm a chinese who lives in America and speaks fluent Chinese. 2 summers ago when I went to China my family took me to go shopping and there was a kind man who let me take a few more small trinkets even though I paid for less. He even told me to switch a trinket because the first trinket I chose was faulty.
So 2:30. You see a beer, called Coral. And the "funny" bit is, it's a Portuguese beer, made in Madeira Island, in the middle of the Atlantic. So half a world away. Never knew they exported to China. Totally random thing to find.
AlphaPT Why so shocked? Macau (a territory off the coast of China similar to Hong Kong) was a Portuguese colony up until 1999 when it has handed back to China. Portuguese is still an official language there.
OH MY GOD I've never thought of watching a video that was filmed in Huizhou. That's my hometown and I am in the states for college now so your video absolutely evoked my homesick. Thanks for showing them!
legal drinking age in belgium is 16 for beers and other soft drinks, and 18 for spirits. i'm not sure how enforced this is these days, but when i was 13-14 (about 11 years ago) i just went into bars and bought beers, granted, i was already pretty damn large, so i imagine they might not've realized.
France is the same way, in Italy the age is 18 but it's very common especially in rural areas for teenagers to start drinking before that due to the low penalties for breaking the law
there is something very similar to PC in china, chinese call it "道德綁架" literately translate to "moral kidnapping", instead of focusing on racial beliefs, "moral kidnapping" focus on a some what absurd standard of moral.
I found the thing Chinese people hated most was when they were unfriendly or rude to me I would laugh really loud and get everyone's attention and pat the rude person on the head.
What a crazy comparison of China and the USA. I am a Canadian. Thanks for the escape from the public sector crookery I've be ordered to delve into constantly. Whatching is always a delightful break tha helps me balance my day and brain. Cheers C-milk!
How would you feel if you had to be around Chinese people in China, and your spouse was continuously speaking Chinese, and doing weird stuff that you did not understand, and was totally bizarre?
TL;DW 1. you can drink and smoke almost anywhere, no drinking age 2. you can get to the roof of most buildings fairly easily That's it right? Did I miss something?
3) You can say racist stuff and act as racist as you want (this isn't actually true, but it's extremely appealing to certain people commenting here) 4) You can eat rare animals that should be in a zoo 5) You can find restaurants serving regional Chinese food
+ RetroGuy76 There's a long list of things you *can't* do in China, but that's for a different video. This is supposed to be a list of things you can do in the PRC but you can't do in the US. In truth, there's nothing you can do in China, but not in the US, except polluting, smoking and drinking everywhere (no matter your age) and eating animals that should be protected. As we saw in this video, he had to lie to get access to the only rooftop he showed us. There are plenty of regional Chinese restaurants in the US. You can say what you want in the US; just don't expect everyone to like you if you insult them, and since there's no free speech in the PRC, it's bizarre that it's being celebrated here as some kind of haven for people with unpopular opinions.
+RetroGuy76 You're right about the lack of free speech in the Commie countries! That said, on my most recent trip to VietNam, people (especially English-speaking guides) openly criticized the government and the extremely corrupt police department... though it's possible that they wouldn't have done this if we had been speaking Vietnamese. For all I know they only felt safe to say what they wanted to me because I am a foreigner and we were only speaking French and English. The guy in the video is an idiot. In China, he has freedom to insult black people, but not to practice any religion not recognized and approved by the government.
+RetroGuy76 He probably does mean well, but I'm not really familiar with his channel. I am just surprised by the number of people who believe everything they're told, as long as it's said by a self-described "expert" and posted online. Also, though more Americans are traveling than ever before, I'm also surprised by the number of people who don't leave the US and instead watch videos like this one, which they consider an acceptable substitute for actually going somewhere else. I understand that travel can be expensive and time-consuming, and some people don't have the time or money, but watching vlogs filmed in Asia isn't the same as actually getting on a plane and traveling.
yes most rooftops are accessible but are owned by people in the building, who won't hesitate to call the police without warning! So be careful! this has happened to people in my school and is a stupid way to get thrown out of the country! (especially in Hong Kong)
Actually, I won't say it's too polite to access into a random building just like that though it seems cool to do. Maybe it sounds werid for foreigners why the doors of rooftops are open-access, but it can be simply explained by how Chinese people think, and you may then also understand why I say it's not too polite. ① Chinese people like convenience, we tend to simplify things affecting our daliy lives, e.g. the open-access of the doors for residents*, the Wechat Pay as some people may know and all sort of other things. ② Chinese people trust their neighbours, we usually say, ''neighbours can help you the most when you are in trouble''. ③ It isn't judged as unsafe (to have the open-access of doors) in the society. I saw a few videoclips that some young foreigners recorded their experiences about accessing to rooftops of random buildings in China. I know some foreigners like the feelings of being in the rooftops, and feel a sense of freedom up there. I am NOT trying to stop people from doing that even though I have made a strong statement at the begining. I am only hoping the climbers are decant and sensible enough and won't bring hatred to the society by doing stupid things. We, young people, love to do special things, sometimes I do crazy things as well. I think it is okay to do if you don't harm others, but please keep in mind that people have right to say no to this action. My final point is we as Chinese welcome peoples from all nations as long as they won't harm our society, I think people from all over the world would say that as well. (I am exhausted ~_~. Thanks for reading, my international friends.)
Thanks for info...the only prob is there are many negative vibes people are spreading about china...i really want to visit china but almost every video on youtube os saying bad experiences and i think this is because they are foreigners..we only have to understand every country has its own culture and traditions...we should respect others so we can live in peaceful world.
In Sweden, it's illegal to sell Alcohol in like supermarkets. If you would want to buy wine or beer etc, you'd have to go to a seperate store that is owned by the government. Plus it's pretty expensive to buy alcohol here....
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcoholic_beverages_in_Sweden#Regulation_and_taxation Sweden has a government alcohol monopoly called Systembolaget for sale of all beverages stronger than 3.5% by volume. Minimum purchase age at Systembolaget is 20 years, but 18 at restaurants and bars with proper permission. Beer with 2.8% alcohol or less is exempt from tax, except VAT.[3] sounds like they can sell alcohol in supermarkets, as long as its under 3,5%
kind of the same here across the pond! in finland you can only buy mild beer in supermarkets, everything else you have to go to alko, goverment owned alcohol store.
Very interesting! My students often talk about the alcohol freedoms and they're always so surprised the more Chinese don't "take advantage" of them the way they would!
@@sherylannnarvasa6922 chinese business people regularly overdose on alcohol when they go out for meetings and try to outdrink their bosses / drink out of pressure from the boss. It has been covered many times by Serpentza and Laowhy and its crazy they all drink 55% alcohol baijiu
+LowBudget Productions I don't know if your vegan, or vegetarian possibly. but you can find valuable vitamins, and protein in meat. vegetarian's/vegans are more prone to Alzheimer's disease. it's been some time but vitamin a and b deficit is a suspected cause. my vegan mother has the beginning of Alzheimer's. I'd kindly recommend looking into supplements for anything your diet is missing.
Cekiert That is so wrong. I'm sorry about your mom but studies have shown a link between a diet high in cholesterol, sugar, meat and dairy and Alzheimers. High blood pressure, which is almost non-existential in vegans is also supposed to be a factor. Supposed because it is still not sure what exactly causes Alzheimers so I'm not going to let possible factors seem like facts here (all studies I've found recommend a diet without animal products though). Despite all of that, vegans are less likely to develop all sorts of cancer, high blood pressure, heart diseases like strokes and the list goes on and on. While yes, there are vitamins and minerals in meat, fish, eggs and dairy, the bad outweighs the good. Especially since the WHO has called meat cancerous and I've read studies on the effects of hem-iron (the iron found in meat) as well as animal protein, I am trying to eat as little animal products as possible. I've been researching a bit on the link of a vegan/ vegetarian diet and Alzheimers since I'm open to everything that can improve my health and I found not one study supporting your claim. Could you maybe tell what sources you used? Or are you just guessing that based on the experience you've had with your mother?
Wade Asbjeld As a Chinese,I gotta say foods in here are not healthy, producers put a lot of harmful chemicals in those foods so that they can get big profits.
4:48 To be fair, I'm sure you'll get similar reactions in countries whose citizens are proud of their nations, such as Japan. Heck, even the Japanese themselves avoid talking about the politics of their own country. In fact, I think the Chinese are more tolerant in this matter. Needless to say, it depends on who you're discussing with. Bear in mind that the older generations are largely uneducated so they are likely to be more emotional than logical when it comes to sensitive topics. There's a TH-camr who casually asked forthcoming questions to a Chinese waiter. He said something like, "The western media views China as 'bad' so I have to come and see for myself, and that's not true at all. They say the Chinese are cold and impolite. What do you think of this? How do you feel about western media?" The waiter (who understood English) was totally cool about it, and she answered as any reasonable person would. If you're gonna downright criticize another person's country without being sensible and respectful then, of course, you're asking for it. Being respectful is key.
@@harrytruss6069 good luck finding Kansas City BBq elsewhere. Or North Carolina BBq. Hey i wish you luck in eating a good lobster roll in Chicago. Sichuan food is the best. Chongqing has some of the best and the food in Jiuzhaigou was really good. I also like the peanut soup in fu Jian to. I miss it so much
THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING THAT AUTHENTIC CHINESE FOOD! I'm tired of my white classmates saying how panda express is good and how it is real chinese food btw i live in LA
Lol dumb af. I'm not familiar with authentic Chinese, but I love Korean and Japanese food and I definitely know when it's been Americanized more often than not
Korea has a food ambassador which is why people are more familiar and enthused about it. Maybe China should have one, too! I feel like food is also a good way to combat racism! Food is such a positive social experience
I apologize for their ignorance. I grew up with Asian friends though and live in Asia, it still baffles me that people think like that. peace from Hanoi, Vietnam.
Bruh, as a Chinese, I have to say you are really into Chinese culture, you know the things that other foreigners in China don’t know, keep it up, love your videos
What a wonderful video! I enjoyed that this wasn't a stereotypical "Stupid Americans don't appreciate foreign countries" piece. You've obviously retained your Americanism while gaining a deep appreciation of China. Really fun.
I heard CMilk and Prozzie like to sneak up to the roof top and make love under the stars. Then CMilk falls asleep in Prozzie's arms. It's all very romantic.
bar girls are a Thai thing. I don't think China has bar girls or "bar fines" . . . of course China has prostitutes but the system works differently ...Bars are not that popular. . I suppose the Chinese equivalent are KTV girls.
@@beastbum Looks like he's wearing a permanent military beret, also his wife looks like she's tired of his videos so much every time he shows her in this video, wonder why
You forgot some of the more important things like..In China, you can walk down any street without fear of being mugged or attacked for no reason or treading through garbage on the street or being exposed to people hocking loogies all over the place.
Good Fucking Lord, you can't be fucking serious. It took three months of scouring to find one case of a fake video from a country of one and a half BILLION people. Considering I see a case like that every morning in a city of a million people, I'd feel better taking my chances in China.
Ohh it definitely is not! The food alone is worth going for. I had a great time in Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Wuhan when I went a year ago. I had a bunch of "fans" wanting to take pictures with me- being a giant Westerner. A bit off-putting at first, but pretty fun when they find you know a bit of the language. Plenty of signs in English/Pinyin making it easy to get around if you can't read the characters. I used an app called WeChat to meet people near me while there. Most just want you to buy something (or 'service' *winkwink*), but you can meet some genuine people willing to show you around a bit. What I did find a little lame was that most of the historical sites- while impressive and beautiful- had been destroyed and rather recently rebuilt. Can't wait to go back, though. I will say, I found Taipei friendlier.
eg dong here is a question for your Chinese that is so proud of your country is. Why Chinese people from China try to find every single way they can think of so that they can get out of the country. Like fake marriage, sit inside a container for month with out food and drink. same as all your Chinese here. If your country so good why you run away? Chinese is nothing but a bunch of hypricrist.
Glad I found your channel, I have been living in Zhaoqing, in Guangdong province for 18 months now, and I'm loving it!! Amazing country, and amazing people!! Loving your videos showing both the good and the bad, very educational. If you are ever in the Zhaoqing area, hit me up, and I'll show you around 😊😊
I would love to see the Chinese population drop that nasty habit. They're genetically predisposed to being slightly smarter than average, but smoking shit that blocks oxygen to the brain cancels that out. While I view myself as entirely American, I do still feel genetically linked to China (because I technically am). Just because I'm an individualistic, 'gun-nut' prepper 'Murica fuck, yeah' kind of guy, doesn't mean I wish bad on China. I hope their human rights track record will improve, their economy will get stronger (without destroying the planet) and their people will become happier and more aware of things that have influence on their lives. One day, we'll be building rings around stars and the way we've treated each other and this planet will look barbaric.
Pretty good video. I had almost the same impression in my various trips to China. But I don't think you can criticise anyone openly in China although they do stereotype people. Now criticising the government is a no no in China.
Visited Mianyang on a business trip back in 2008, loved the food ( spicy as hell but really good ) city was clean, people were friendly, 1st day , I went out and walked around solo, this is not a tourist town, so i did get some stares, I was there during moon cake festival, I went to the supermarket and bought a dozen or so of them trying to get different flavors, by colors and design, ( I don't read Chinese, and had no one to translate. ) they were all good, some better than others. I stayed a week, and spent 5 days every day at the factory, ate with the employees at the cafeteria. basically same as US, 9 to 5, 30 min lunch break. ( good food ) . Only thing I could not get used to was crouching toilet. prefer the seat at the hotel.
It's actually called a squat toilet, and is actually better biologically (since that's how the body was naturally designed to excrete waste). But yeah if you're not used to it can be a bit annoying.
Mao hated the western toilets when he went to Russia as he couldn't have a proper bowl movement (I can't recall where I read that so take it with a grain of salt but they do sell the squatty potty). I guess perhaps the Soviets annilyzing his excrement didn't help.
Refreshing to see China in a positive light to juxtapose the constant mainstream view. If we all traveled and enjoyed each other's food there would be no war, haha. Because why would you want to hurt something you have positive experiences of? Huh... think about it ;o)
No I definitely would kill some people rather than eat their shitty food. Maybe not the Chinese if they feed me right. Some Greek food, yeah I'd start a war over that. There is some fermented stuff too, smelly cheese, rotten fish, that natto stuff. Places and food in the world that I know people wouldn't enjoy.
chinese are extremely brainwashed. the ones that were born and lives in china for a certain amount of time that is fun fact: youtube is banned in china
Maybe you should try actually travelling in the US too. The cultural diversity of food is impressive here too. Ever had real Cajun boudin? How about some chitlins? I'm a bit spoiled living near New Orleans though because we have all of the foods from all over the world here. Food is a 2nd religion in New Orleans.
Shhhhh, he thinks because he's spent a little time in one city in one foreign country that he suddenly knows something about cultural. Just ignore the guy in the video, he probably edited out all the times he had to step over the human shit piles in the street.
You only named creole/Cajun food lol. We have diverse food choices in America, but you would be wrong if you said it was more diverse than China. You're really only gonna hit diversity of food in the US if you hit ethnic communities or big cities. Ever been to a small town? It's always American food galore with a tiny Chinese place and a popular Mexican restaurant.
Bob Robertson It's the same thing. The diversity of food in China is because of the geographical diversity of the country just like in the USA. I'm sure other large countries can make the same claim like Russia, Canada, Brazil, Australia and India.
@@rykerabel food diversity has less to do with geographical than it does cultural/ethnic diversity. China definitely takes the Cake on that. Americans and few other countries can even compete when it comes to that. ESPECIALLY when you take into account just how bad urbanization is in China. All those people and ethnic groups live in super crammed cities rather than little pockets across the nation like in the US. Obviously it's not cut and dry, but you get the point

@DJ_Trolly Did you not notice the global pandemic that possibly came from chinese food markets?
Food markets...where there are a ridiculous number of different species being sold as food.
Ie: the "zoo" part.

As someone who lived both in America and China for over a decade, the biggest upside for me living in China is safety, like you can go anywhere at anytime you want without worrying about gangs and stuff, the biggest downside is you cant get political.
Tony Stark Thats easy to say when your walking around in an iron suit.
I feel 100 percent safe in America though... I feel like if I walked across my state through every city and back alley, and I would never see a thing. Beware of California, Chicago, and N.Y.C though. Those cities(/state) are dangerous to walk through.
ronnie raines so the whole State of California is dangerous? seems legit
Tony Stark political in USA? Are you deef🤔 blind? Dumb?
Tony Stark If life in a country is. good then there is no reason to get political. Here in the states we argue all the time. We are loosing our freedom and happiness by building a wall of never ending arguing.

Typical Chinese way isn’t it the lady/woman does what the man says 👊🏼
The roof access bit is mostly about liability, litigation. In China, there is almost no litigation. If you slip and fall on a wet floor in a shop, it's your fault for being stupid to walk on a wet floor.
That's because there is no private property in communist countries. If you don't own it, you're not responsible for it.
The Constitution stipulates that land can only be owned by the state or collectively
You can only rent this land for 70 years. As for 70 years later, no one knows, let's talk about it later.
but it's true that If you fall off the roof of a tall building, most Chinese will say it is your own fault. as we say"no zuo no die" means, if you dont play with death, you will not die.
that's the way it's SUPPOSED to be. I can't stand the stupid ruining things for the normal.
"Southeners call northeners stupid because they fight and get drunk" ah sweet, another comparison between England and China haha
My hometown is in Northern part of China , and I live in Scotland now. I feel both people are very friendly!
It's the opposite in England mate

“Ur mom suq me guud and hard”

one thing very important : you can walk down the street 2am in China and feel safe, which you probably wouldn't do in America

I watched your wife’s cooking channel before I knew of your relationship. Young man you have a beautiful wife and amazing chef.
I guess you should lose some weight fatty
Fatasses should be banned from typing.
I can see the grease running off your letters.
I suppose that insulting a stranger makes you feel better about yourself for a couple of seconds, but if you really want to feel better about yourself, you'll get a lot more satisfaction from being nice to people. Or try volunteer work, talking to lonely older folks, etc. That works better long term. I know that sounds sarcastic, but I'm not trying to be ironic.
go to the gym my man and stop being a fat fuck!!!

Ensure our territory intact is the highest and only Political Correctness in China
as a chinese it is so ture You can criticize the CCP, do not like China, if you split China do so you will enter the hospital or police
Also falun gong, and you will be sent to heaven XD
chocolatetang it is true, everyone in China is free to complain about the government and the society. In China, people always joke each other" foreign moon is better than Chinese's" but most of Chinese people do love China. They emphasis respect. So I believe China would be a better place to live and travel in future.

There are Wet Markets in the United States.
Go vegan! That "zoo" looked distressing. Tiny cages. Blood. Suffering everywhere.
It's cuz you're white.
Really? not for me. I'm a chinese who lives in America and speaks fluent Chinese. 2 summers ago when I went to China my family took me to go shopping and there was a kind man who let me take a few more small trinkets even though I paid for less.
(especially in Hong Kong)
this seems like the most positive video you've ever made about china
This was a great video, well done.
八白耳 thanks for the info
Thanks for info...the only prob is there are many negative vibes people are spreading about china...i really want to visit china but almost every video on youtube os saying bad experiences and i think this is because they are foreigners..we only have to understand every country has its own culture and traditions...we should respect others so we can live in peaceful world.
I agree so much for what you say.
Beer with 2.8% alcohol or less is exempt from tax, except VAT.[3]
sounds like they can sell alcohol in supermarkets, as long as its under 3,5%
Lynxine canada?
kind of the same here across the pond! in finland you can only buy mild beer in supermarkets, everything else you have to go to alko, goverment owned alcohol store.
In some states its that way too like NJ and FL.
It's the same in my state (Pennyslvania).
9:24 so true... each province has its own style. I ordered something with the same name, but it was completely different...
Very interesting! My students often talk about the alcohol freedoms and they're always so surprised the more Chinese don't "take advantage" of them the way they would!
I'm not. Prohibition is actually a pretty toxic attitude. Most people don't really want to binge drink. The few who do have a disease.
That is because Chinese students study more.

Because their parents will beat the shit out of them if they get drunk at that age? Social context.

His views on China have changed dramatically 7 years later.
China is becoming a good country to travel. When they allow visa-free travel, then the people will come even more.

btw i live in LA
Lol dumb af. I'm not familiar with authentic Chinese, but I love Korean and Japanese food and I definitely know when it's been Americanized more often than not
Korea has a food ambassador which is why people are more familiar and enthused about it. Maybe China should have one, too! I feel like food is also a good way to combat racism! Food is such a positive social experience
I apologize for their ignorance. I grew up with Asian friends though and live in Asia, it still baffles me that people think like that. peace from Hanoi, Vietnam.

I heard CMilk and Prozzie like to sneak up to the roof top and make love under the stars. Then CMilk falls asleep in Prozzie's arms. It's all very romantic.
LMAO was gonna make comment on the bromance being back on again - glad you picked it up.

Good Fucking Lord, you can't be fucking serious. It took three months of scouring to find one case of a fake video from a country of one and a half BILLION people. Considering I see a case like that every morning in a city of a million people, I'd feel better taking my chances in China.
Unlike America where every girl lost virginity at the age of 13 😂
Real deal
Black communities DO NOT represent America.
You can really tell which videos he made before he left China
I always thought China was lame and scary. but not anymore.
Come visit man!
I will say, I found Taipei friendlier.
u are right,if one people want to konw one country, please come and visit it.i hate many people never come to China, and they said China is how bad.
As a chinese,I can tell you ,you are wrong.China is a harmony country
eg dong here is a question for your Chinese that is so proud of your country is.
Amazing country, and amazing people!! do u think it is wise to talk a people who gave himself this name? I recommend u spend time to just enjoy that moment rather talking to him.

Yup, the squat toilet is not only better biologically, but it's also more sanitary as no skin comes in contact with any surfaces.
i always got the image of sitting on anther guys ass , especially still warm there ....lol
What, 30 minutes break in a day. It should be coffee break at 9, then lunch at 12, both 30 minutes
Hahaha this idea is so cute:)
There's a reason the mainstream view is mainstream. It's not a great place.

when you spend a week in China, you realize how bad the restaurants are in the US, and how bad the produce is in most stores
What's the first religion? Beads?
Great video. Loved it. Great information
