@@MaxTechOfficialcan we see a video where you benchmark it against a fanless iPad Pro with the m4 chip, might be a good sneak peak to what we will see this coming fall season when Apple brings m4 to the laptops.
A fair battery test between these two machines would be if both passed the test with applications optimized for their respective platforms or with applications running under emulation on both. Even considering that the Samsung laptop is at a disadvantage in this battery test, it still had 40% battery left, compared to 48% for the MacBook.
Yes, OLED is more power-consuming for sure but most of these tests would not have used 120Hz much. Not sure about comparable screen sizes though likely the battery difference is not significant.
The real question is how does it compare to M4? The M3 is still using ARMv8 cores while the M4 and SnapX chips are ARMv9. Qualcomm has done very well with these chips but I suspect Apple is still ahead. Bang for buck though, Qualcomm probably wins!

As a MacBook user how can anyone from the Apple side get upset and want to see a clearly lower power meant to be MacBook Air rival. This isn’t aimed at the pro model you gotta get over wanting to see Apple beat Samsung. It’s not a Samsung book edge Pro, it’s a first generation aimed at the MacBook Air. For all the grown folks out here your grown be grown. We’re not in it to see a company that you have no stake in win we’re here to get the best product for our money. And I have to say to have a smaller battery and perform that well on its first time around that’s amazing. Great video by the way!
there is a secret setting on windows where you can unlock a high performance setting that just removes the cap on those chips. you have to do it in command line
There is no comparison here. You picked the highest SKU for the Qualcomm chip. 12P cores vs 4P and 4E cores on the Mac. The Mac was only slightly slower, accept one, in the tests it lost which makes since as it takes 3E cores to match 1P core in a mac. So the mac has less than half the P core count and still won all but 3 tests. Sorry the Mac wins hands down... Oh nail in coffin here; as mentioned you put the flagship against the entry level and the entry level came out on top. Glad you mention at the end about another round but don't use the Pro chip do the Max with 40 cores. I mean you are picking the top SKU for Qualcomm it only makes since to choose the Max 16/40 for Apple.
I think beside the better display in real world for most people the MacBook still is better because the MacBook is for most real world tasks better(like in speedometer)and the more power isn’t worth the disadvantages in term of the chassi ,keyboard ,trackpad and also the thunderbolts ports are soo important and actually I think MacBook wins against the Samsung in terms of connectivity.Well also the m3 got a lot more grafikpower.Well and then there is windows ,which is just a problem on its own (yes windows is more flexible) and if you want something that just works and doesn’t brake at one point for any reason. The performance difference isn’t that big for a Maschine that doesn’t have fans
Personally I think the samsung beats apple in everything but Trackpad/Performance. Windows is simply a better os for the majority of workflows. I wish apple would just allow us to put windows on mac.
The Edge has a sound feature that has Dolby, You can make EQ adjustments that bring it up some for bass and treble. Its not bad not that I have adjusted it, but Apple is the standard no question for sound quality.
Battery life for the X Elite is very impressive. Not just the slightly smaller battery. But the last few test you ran were not GPU accelerated on the X Elite. MacBook running faster and more efficient with better optimized software with GPU support while the X Elite was just brute forcing it with raw CPU. Idk about blender or Lightroom. But I know if I were to compare brute force x264 vs hw accelerated h264 encoding the total power draw difference would be massive even if for just 7 minutes.
Plugged in performance is much more important. Yeah.. The deal with these is being a portable laptop. Not i don't sit in a restaurant doing blender or video editing. Being outside of on flight there are tasks that could be don't like script or browsing, while having the ability to get better performance at home
Wait, so after 4 generations of Apple Silicon, we finally have a competitor, but in some tests, it won't even match the M3, let alone the M4, Pro, or Max chips. There's some more catching up to do.
This maybe is the first batch. When Apple launched M1, the Pro and the Max were announced 1 year later and the Ultra 2 years later. Although the X Elite is below the promised, it's a good start. And the agreement with Microsoft finishes this year, so another companies may enter the game of ARM SoCs for Windows, too (rumors of AMD, nVidia, Mediatek and Samsung are willing to). Jensen Huang, Nvidia CEO, already gave clues about nVidia intentions when he was with Michael Dell and asked by Bloomberg.
It's their first generation of this kind of product and CPU power of the X Elite matches the m4 (around 15k in geekbench) in multi core performance, and single core is only 7% slower (geekbench 2.8k vs 3k). The NPU is top notch and we'll see if it's actually useful and programs start using it (like davinci resolve using it for tracking or noise reduction). Yeah the GPU is kinda just alright and Apple has the lead there, I expected more too, but as said this is very good for a first Generation product. It's good for us in the End as the end consumer we profit from more competition. Apple dropped the m4 only 6 months after m3 announcement because they were scared of the X Elite and it's multicore perfomance.
I think the X-Elite is great for a 1st gen arm windows laptop chip. Can't wait to see the gen 2 hopefully they will up the graphics. I think Samsung needs to fix the early models fan noise and use better speakers 🔊
I don't think the efficient CPU and RAM usage on the laptop with the Snapdragon X Elite can be called "_throttling_." The difference in the Blender test is due only to the application still not being able to use the GPU of Samsung's laptop. A fair test would be to disable the feature on the MacBook, and we would probably see superior performance from Qualcomm's 12-core chip over Apple's M3.
if the speakers were better & windows wasn't so buggy, i'd honestly consider upgrading from my m1 macbook air. maybe in a few more years, but the snapdragon elite chips are off to an impressive start
Fair? MBP chasis is even more expensive than Air. With 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD it would be 250 dollars more than Galaxy Book Edge. Even with higher price you get smaller display in technology that happened to be inferior even with all those billions Apple put into MiniLED development.
Bro you make nice videos but they are repetitive, you can try something new like try reviewing and comparing phones Android vs iPhone, or some gadgets or some other tech, and go outside this laptop world and try all other tech things. May be if you try this and convince us viewers and entertain us in a lot different ways. All the best.
They did. They reviewed other stuff but not as much. They can see the reactions and number of views. Most people could be more interested in apple and comparisons. I for one feels that they are consistent.
Comparing fanless machine with the one with fans is never fair because of thermal throttling. However the overall review is more less right about pros and cons of both devices. Still when u want best optimized and most efficient machine u have to go with Apple which is currently KING of performance per watt and I don't think we will ever see Windows chip which can dethrone it. Apple's HW & SW integration and optimization is already legendary mimicking console like environment. On the other hand what Qualcomm or ex Apple Nuvia to be precise have achieve is extraordinary and very impressive. I was expecting much worse results so I have to give both Qualcomm and M$ credit for doing pretty good job and not repeating fails like with the previous Qualcomm Arm PC chips.
Impressive first showing all round. The X Elite did well but I’d prefer it if they removed power profile settings altogether. The Elite X doesn’t need them and its perf per watt that matters most with any portable device. They would be better targeting a balanced profile all round amd going all in on battery life when unplugged. The entire point of Arm chips is that they can hit similar perf on battery due to low power and efficiency. Surely this is a chance to get rid of obnoxious fan spin up when in use???
I think Samsung can do much better with the hardware, they should go all out just as they do with the s24 series devices, the screen is already the best, they can add a bigger battery, better speaker and touchpad I never thought windows laptops would ever get to this position, I’m excited about the competition, apple will also have to improve their displays now It’s crazy that the laptop can run this well without a fan. Well nice comparison
in speaker comparison, MacBook sounds distorted, if you play at same volume, Samsung sounds way better (but also do note Windows by default puts some shizzy EQ curves you might wanna disable)

The X Elite is not bad at all. In some tests it got much more favorable results, so it seems to be a matter of optimization for the other tests where the M3 got better results. As for battery, let's take into account that the Book 4 Edge has a slightly smaller battery, so the results are not as exaggerated as they want to make it seem, due to optimization and other factors it could even be argued that the X Elite is more efficient because it actually did more work. Considering all the factors in favor of Apple such as OS, unified RAM, soldered SSD, application optimization, ARM experience, and a long etcetera, in my opinion (and although Apple got more favorable results in most tests) Qualcomm won this time.

Yes, minimum 16GB of RAM and they should honestly make their storage user upgradable. In general Macbooks should be easier to repair, and they are probably forced to do that now because of new EU laws. That's why Microsoft themselves went from a 1/10 repair rating to 8/10 rating on iFixit.

OLED CONSUMES MORE POWER THAN AN LED. WHY DOES NOT A SINGLE "TECH" REVIEWER NEVER MENTION THIS?? 🤷♀
I tought it was the opposite, no?
@@andi.k3979 If you watch movies with dark scenes the entire time, yes an OLED would consume less.. but everything else, it will consume more. Not to mention it's a dying screen. OEMs love putting OLEDs on their laptops cause they give you a reason to buy a new one in 24 months once the screen burn in occurs. OLED works on phones cause people replace them every 2 years or so. It's bad on laptops. Tandem OLED is a different story though. It's the latest OLED tech only found in the newest iPad and in the X Elite version of the XPS 13.

I love how you didn t sad anything about resolution
Why don’t you point out the obvious reason for the Snapdragon getting higher multi-core scores… it has 12 core vs the MacBook’s 8
Sadly different architectures have totally different cores so an 8 core 16 thread cpu can be significantly slower than an 8 core 16 thread cpu
there is a secret setting on windows where you can unlock a high performance setting that just removes the cap on those chips. you have to do it in command line
Being outside of on flight there are tasks that could be don't like script or browsing, while having the ability to get better performance at home
m3 won in most tasks. apple wins.

I do actually prefer the diving board design in a trackpad. I just hate those fake rumble-clicks in a MacBook or new surface. Drives me nuts
if the speakers were better & windows wasn't so buggy, i'd honestly consider upgrading from my m1 macbook air. maybe in a few more years, but the snapdragon elite chips are off to an impressive start
Just compare it with the 14" M3 MacBook Pro. It'll be fair.
Fair? MBP chasis is even more expensive than Air. With 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD it would be 250 dollars more than Galaxy Book Edge. Even with higher price you get smaller display in technology that happened to be inferior even with all those billions Apple put into MiniLED development.
Fair will be if it's comparable in price with the same config.
Testing coding performance lacks when comparing Windows and Mac.
It'd be great if you come up with a programming benchmark for both Windows and Mac.
I'd be interested to see the MacBook's performance with some active cooling.
If Apple allowed bootcamp again on their M cpus, this would be a different conversation
I'm interested to see how the Samsung will compete with the baseline MBP since the MBP has a fan.
Comparing the best chip from Qualcomm to the most basic Apple chip. Nice one. Compare it to the M3 Pro
They‘ve done android vs iPhone many times over the years, how would that be new?
They did. They reviewed other stuff but not as much.
They can see the reactions and number of views. Most people could be more interested in apple and comparisons.
I for one feels that they are consistent.
@rtc3000 you are right I think
Curious to see how X Elite’s GPU stacks up to Meteor Lake
I think Samsung can do much better with the hardware, they should go all out just as they do with the s24 series devices, the screen is already the best, they can add a bigger battery, better speaker and touchpad
I never thought windows laptops would ever get to this position, I’m excited about the competition, apple will also have to improve their displays now
It’s crazy that the laptop can run this well without a fan. Well nice comparison
to fairly test audio, use high quality wired headphones!
in speaker comparison, MacBook sounds distorted, if you play at same volume, Samsung sounds way better (but also do note Windows by default puts some shizzy EQ curves you might wanna disable)

Compare it with M3 Pro unbinned one
Why ? does m3 unbinned costs less than Elite? or Does Snapdragon compares their chip to m3 Pro in their Marketing?
You can’t compare safari performance with edge. You need to run the same browser for a proper comparison as the web rendering engines are completely different.

@@furTron They still did a edge vs safari. Not hating on them; but that's not a good comparison in an otherwise perfect video.
@@dudblock4201 then what should he do, in your opinion?
First he run default web browsers. Then he tried with the same browser on both machines.
I literally have no idea what more he could do. Try to surf with held of CURL in command prompt?!
And what engine are you talking about? Everyone knows that today everything is just safari underneath (webkit)
Do the same with M3 pro Chip please ❤
