Thanks for an amazing video Charlie. I set off fromKinlochourn after driving 380 miles arriving at 11pm, 4 hours broken sleep in the car, and set off on the walk in at 4am. My intention was similar to yours, planning to drop off bivi gear at Barrisdale bay, do the 3 Munro’s and bivi before walking out next day. Plan went badly astray . Did Luinne Bheinn but was so tired I sat down for a rest and fell asleep for 2 hours at the top of Mam Barrisdale. Woke to a severe midge attack which made me doubt the wisdom of my plan to bivi !! At nearly 70 and on my own I decided to cut my losses and walk back out to the car.I was so exhausted I needed to rest every 100 yards.Got to the car at 9pm and did a 6 hour journey home.My planning of the trip had been poor. I returned a year later with a friend, sailed in to Inverie, did Meall Bhuidhe, bivvied on Barrisdale pass, did Ladhar Bheinn (my final Munro) and sailed out to Mallaig and home. Much better planning ! By the way your video was made perfect by your choice of music.....my wife and I were Runrig fans for 30 years. Donnie’s voice and Knoydart mountains a wonderful combination.
Hi Michal, Great stuff.... you have certainly had your adventures with Knoydart but an area never to be forgotten. We have also had the boat in from Mallaig on one occasion and finished a munro round on Meall Bhuidhe before walking out to Kinlochourn and getting picked up by our Dad. That loch path certainly goes on a bit...lol. The boat in/out from Arnisdale is the easiest access particularly when the weather is settled and the views into Barrisdale Bay absolutely stunning. Many thanks for taking the time to view. Cheers, Charlie.
Wonderful video takes me back to a time when my legs were a lot younger. Did the walk out to Barrisdale back in the nineties with my brother Mark on a similar evening weather-wise. Was surprised to see a big house out there. Camped on the sheep-cropped turf and climbed Ladhar Bheinn the following day but our plans to stay longer got thwarted. Mark damaged a knee ligament,-- getting into his sleeping bag would you believe and so next day saw him hobbling back to KinlochHourn with me as his crutch. A fabulous place to visit though.
Hi William, What an adventure, just what you don't need when in at Barrisdale and that's a long loch side walk when your carrying an injury. Many thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie
Hi Sebastian, glad you enjoyed our outing into Knoydart. It's just a magic place with the hills being more dramatic when rising straight from sea level. Many thanks for watching. ATB, Charlie.
Hi Gavin, Glad you enjoy look at our trips. Hopefully, we'll get back in the groove early next year and see the back of Covid. Many thanks for watching. ATB, Charlie.
Hi John, Its the sort of walk that you build up too so your hill legs are in condition. We were also travelling light as the weather was settled which always helps on days like this. If I remember, the midges were wild so it was generally good to keep walking 🤣 Cheers
Hi Charlie , lm going to do that trip next week while this glorious weather lasts, spreading it over 2 days of climbing. I was wondering is there a fresh water supply at Barrisdale camping site or Bothy.
Hi lovethehills, That's a great time of the year to go into Knoydart. I really hope you get the weather to enjoy the experience. Enjoy..... Cheers, Charlie
Hello, is this the track from Kinloch Hourn to Knoydart? I’ve been to Inverie last year and did some walks (including the start of this one, until the first loch). I would really like to do the entire walk. Is the path « easy » to follow after the loch? Thanks for your help.
Superb 👏👏cracking day for it
