Question. 1st major thing I'm gonna have to do to my bike. My bike is at 70,000 miles and I'm thinking since I have to take everything off is there anything you recommend I replace while I have the bike bare to save me the trouble for future big jobs. Thank you!
I have owned every brand except for BMW and Guzzi. Just purchased a used K1200lt and as a mechanic and engineer I must say it may be the worst design in history. Any maintenance requires complete disassembly to the basic bare frame. Also with the handlebar layout I felt like I was driving a wheelbarrow. So For Sale a nice clean used BMW K1200lt - never been raced!
Hi, could you make a video showing how to change the transmission seal? I have the oil leaking problem as well and I cannot find in the BMW manual how to remove that seal. Or is there a video which I simply heaven‘t found? Thanks so much. Regards from Germany
I thought I covered that one before but I will make a stand alone video on it very soon. I have a bike coming in mid august that needs that service. Thanks for the idea!
Either one side of the hall sensor is bad or the coil. I would start with the coil if you dont have a computer to check it out. Get a used one on ebay or borrow one from a friends bike. It is not hard to change
Hall sensor replaced. Still no spark on 1and 2. I've ordered a coil now so will be here soon. When I first turn on the ignition I have to wait for up to 20 seconds for the temp warning light to come on before the starter will turn over. Do you think this could have something to do with it ?
WARNING I tried a BMW for the first time after riding for more than 40 years..I should have what I always regarded as the best motorcycle...I always had the impression that the BMW machines were a riders machine owned by riders that put tens of thousands of miles on their machines. I made it a point to check the odometer’s on BMWs with lots of road patina. It was not uncommon to see the R series machines with more than 100,000 miles on the clock.. At least they did back in the air cooled R series days..So I bought an LT. I owned that machine for three years.I will never buy another BMW. I have spoken to BMW owners, and the honest ones say the same thing. Too many major flaws, not just the LT... there’s a reason that many of the German state police departments switched from BMW to Moto Guzzi police motorcycles...
Well I got the fairings off and I’m about to perform this operation myself with this video as my guide 🎉

Glad I bought a motorcycle and not a two wheel car also 129000+ miles on original clutch

What a cool class, thanks Kirk!
I know it’s odd but where can parts be bought? I’m used to Fcpeuro but have no idea about bikes
Kirk your videos are priceless, and you make it interesting to watch. Any thoughts work on doing k1600’s? I agonized on k1200 vs 1600..Love the 1600…
I am starting to see more of them in my shop and will start making vids soon
@@kirksmotorrad so looking forward to it, thanks for many hours of great videos, Kirk,
Any chance you can do a final drive maintenance vid for the k16? I enjoy your vids very much!
I just so happen to have one in the making!
шкода що я вас не розумію.а так би хотілось.дякую за відео скоро теж буду розбирати.

My K 1200 RS is a great bike as well. But maintenance is so hard. BMW‘s construction is too complicated...
The arrogant asses that design and build them are superior to everybody else didn't you know that?

@@darrencunliffe5005 maybe, I would change the temp sensor behind the coil just to make sure that is not the issue. This is Kirk BTW.

Design defect and BMW should be held accountable
