  • Writing music, putting together a track, a recording, writing a song, a pop song, a folk song, writing a musical theatre song or even an orchestral work, ballet or full-scale opera all involves the same disciplines. If you don’t have a music theory background, you might think this is beyond what you can achieve - but, I believe you couldn’t be further from the truth. Modern recording software and techniques make it as easy as it’s ever been to create, inspiring and well recorded music in whatever musical genre you’re into. In this the first of this series of videos, I go into some detail on how I have produced an orchestral suite by creating a story, planning sections or movements, creating a mood by looking at major and minor keys, sketching a melody and developing a musical idea.
