She is probably a perfoming pianist or something, it was quite weird to listen to her play...it was like she was in competition with the violinist haha
I know a country fiddler who, as part of his show, plays in such a way as to break bow hairs. At the end of each show, he would trim them and put that bow away. I asked what he did when he broke them all and he said "I keep playing and worry about it later. That's why I rosin up the stick too." (At least on that particular bow.)

If you're playing, you just need to keep playing or fake it. It's better to have it look/sound like you're still playing than just stop and do nothing. More people would notice if you just stopped.

The hair was still being dragged across the string, even if wasn't as connected to the bow as it was before. You can even make sound with no hair and just the wood if you push hard enough.
