So for the logic impared:
it *is* a sneak device, when it is plugged into the computer it looks like it's just a cable, and cables can't store information like a USB stick does. Now you'd probably have to make some adjustements to the USB itself that it stays invisible when you plug it into a PC.
If that cable was still working as a cable in addition with gathering/collecting (sniffing) passwords, accounts, typed keys and/or other wanted data - then u could call it a "spy cable". In this vid you just changed the body enclosure of the flash memory.
Does it still charge?
You could make it charge, since you could just pass the 5V (and GND) to the rest of the cable.
It would be far more like a spy trick if you actually used something like a USB keyboard cable and soldered connections to make the cord/keyboard functional again. You could then install some keylogger software or something and have data sent to the hidden memory stick that you would come back and recover at a later time ;)
the other end of the cable...can it serve as OTG memory stick for mobile devices?
That's kind of funny. I suppose it would be effective with some peripheral on the other end, or better yet plugged in the back of the computer where there are already a lot of cables. Perhaps as a backdoor to a computer. Sounds like a good idea for a fiction book.

Here's the solution to make sure no one uses it: find an old obscure cord from some old gadget that no one will want to use!
if you conect the power cabels to the usb stick it will be more "spy" and you can hide the stick whith software

There are better, easier and more secure/secret ways to hide a USB Stick. F. e. you could make a cable who works like it looks, but when you connect something, it shows your data inside a fake folder on the connected device. (I'm sorry for my bad english...)

It's about ways to hide your USB drive. In terms of spying, people would
hardly think about checking out a usb cable in ordrer to find a USB
KEY! It's a good way to hide a flash drive, with a hint of spying trick.That's it.

Man, this was sad. You ruined a USB cable, to make a USB drive, which you already had. It's not spy, it doesn't spy at all. All will happen is someone will try to charge their phone or connect a drive to the USB spy and see it doesn't work and throw it away. These projects really suck lately. Please step your game up.

what the point of this? Not Worth destroying those two connectors even if there was a box full of each to experiment with... just tape up a usb to one end of a garden hose and presto ! more secure... nobody wants to do yardwork ..
