- After half a century, oil has become the cause of corruption, kidnapping and civil war in the Niger Delta. Black gold has awakened the most insatiable appetites and caused the largest oil spill in the history of Africa.

The fight is that the oil money is not brought to the benefit of the pepple and you can see that man risking his life to refine the crude, because the oil company and government is not letting him enjoy the benefits of oil from his land ...No water no light, no roads, no good health care and so on ..that's the sad reality.
What those foreign companies are doing is abominable. And they take it all, devastating the environment utterly and leaving a cut for the elite such as the Dantatas, the Indimis, and the rest. It is greed of the worst kind and it baffles the mind to behold.
The way Nigerians in the diaspora and on the internet are always bold and aggressive, it is surprising that they cannot stand up to their crooked government and these multi corporations.

The Nigerian government is also bold and aggressive. It's Nigeria that makes you bold and assertive. Another problem is that Nigerians don't like or trust each other. You have the ethnic and religious issue. If there were a revolution in Nigeria, it would end up like Sudan or Somalia.

The irony is the Niger delta area is rich and abundant with everything people could ever need... and that's why Nigeria won't let these people go. And Nigeria is not a country. That means Nigeria is a plantation and its inhabitants are plantation workers who are under the illusion that they are citizens with rights yet can't understand why their institutions don't function like the rest of the world. If these young people understand the basics of crude oil refining with little education and no industry experience, why can't they be trained properly and employed in the country's refineries to make them productive? That would reduce insecurity and oil theft significantly.

Are the oil companies really responsible for building roads, hospitals, schools and other things which were not included in their contracts with the Nigerian government? These things should be addressed to the state and possibly federal governments without involving the oil majors.
