  • He held his first exhibition at the age of six At the age of 14 he's already worth £2 million. Buyers from around the world queue up to pay thousands for paintings by this boy, nicknamed 'Mini Monet'. The media love him. Blue chip companies want him to endorse their products. Scientists have sought permission to wire up his brain. But there's a lot more to Kieron Williamson's success than just talent. This is a family affair. With exclusive access to the Williamson household, the film follows preparations for Kieron's latest exhibition. It reveals how his career is skilfully managed by his family. Newcomers to both business and the art world, they've had to learn everything - from keeping Kieron on the level to looking after his public affairs and growing fortune. And this is a critical moment in his career as the 14-year-old begins the transition from child prodigy to adult artist.

    there’s thousands of kids in ateliers painting on this kids level and greater, he’s very good, but, I want to know who the person is who’s marketing him, that person is the true genius. Art doesn’t sell itself, it doesn’t matter how talented you are.

    I am an amateur artist . According to my mother , I could mix colours to get the colour I wanted . I just knew how . I could draw very well too . I didn't get the encouragement like he has . I painted on and off , but five kids and mortgage , the money wasn't there . I'm 60 now . I am trying to get back into it . I don't know what other artists think , but if he didn't love painting , he wouldn't be doing it . I saw him at seven years old and seeing his work now , he has found his own style . He was compared to Monet when he was younger , but now I don't see Monet's style . I see him .

    I had the great pleasure of meeting Kieron a few days ago. He is a charming, relaxed and unassuming young man. His latest paintings of rural characters are absolutely superb. Certainly a prodigy.

    Oh dad that wasn’t nice ‘I would like him to be a footballer and play for Leeds united’. Your son is one in a million and I am so proud of him. He is a wonderful painter and he will go on to greater things. Give him his moment on this earth as one of the great artists, he should truly deserve that and he will be remembered. There will be thousands of footballers won’t

      Its very ok for parents to have wishes for their children! If you give at the end such a freedom and support to grow in their own way. And there are as much painters like footballers playing in the unknown village clubs

    Good luck to them. I remember one very, very sad story on morning tv years ago. A little girl about three was a magnificent artist, a real prodigy. Her well-meaning parents took her to a therapist, presumably to guide her artistic genius - and guess what happened? She shut down artistically and started drawing crude figures like an average three year old, and her immense talent never returned. I hope too that they are not putting too much pressure on him.

    Kieron is the UKs Andrew and Jamie Wyeth. Very talented, the challenge is preventing burn out and the dark side of the art world as he gets older. The main thing is he needs to save the money. What the art world gives, can take away.

    Hardly seems fair to put so much spotlight on one kid. There are so many just like him.

    • @x1smind
      @x1smind 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's the financial success that makes his story bold. Most artists struggle to pay the bills. This kid was very lucky he hit it big very early on in his life not only allowing himself to do what he loves to do but also paying for his parents expenses. I believe many talented kids have been forced to fit the norm and have gotten squashed by parents, teachers and society unless their talents were seen worthy of a financial success.

      I agree entirely, there are a lot of people like him past and present who never got , or gets reconition, arts a fickle thing the old saying it's all in the eye of the beholder comes into its own also I ,like a lot of people look at artwork for sale that looks like a child of ten could do and ask a silly price!

    I wish you good luck talent boy, may you always do and paint what you want. Let your imagination and hand run free, and colors come out where they have to. Let experiment and dare be always part of your progress as well. And take a little trip to the coast of Portugal to see the most gorgeous sunlight, and stunning shadows on villages and coast landscapes. Above all, make sure your earnings and success never shadow your true happiness! - - You seem to have been lucky with wonderful parents too! Best! 🎨👩‍🎨

    he should try to go beyond what artists have already done or do it differently. don't think he'll surpass a whistler land/seascape but there are other things where he may advance or go beyond our notions of art, contribute to its progress. he's got the touch and visual accuity for any undertaking requiring tactile and visual skills. art needs rebels not style copycats - not saying this artist is a copycat

    It's just full of worry and control. his parents are gonna have to let him go at some point so he can go and get smashed and get stuck into some music and the world. He's got the technique but the content of a retired geography teacher.. On the other hand, he just might not be that kind of artist.

    This is another instance where people that have no clue about art history are "wowed" by something that has been going on for centuries... He's actually not that good compared to other artists that were 16 years old and painting in history. I give him credit, but it's really not that good.

      unfortunately you dont know what youre talking about. this "real" art world you refer to doesnt exist in the sense youre imagining. being turned into a "brand", as you say, and being marketed as a prodigy IS his break into the art world. he's already made it, all he has to do now is continue to make art

    • @burgermont3533
      @burgermont3533 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      psh I'm not here to speculate on what he'll create over the next 60+ years or whatever, or how far his work will take him. I'm simply saying that he's already part of the "art world". he's already established his name in the minds of art dealers and he's already got enough reputation to get into galleries, all he has to do is keep making art now

    • @ninjabluewings

      MINE RAT PRODUCTIONS Because there are many, many massively over privileged retards out there with way too much money to waste that will pay it, simple as that, the Art world is exceedingly snobbish and you get people paying thousands of pounds for total tripe just so that they can say they have a piece by a certain artist however this young man is hugely talented and very humble to go with it, i really hope he stays that way and keeps his gift pure and does not let the vultures of the business spoil him for nothing more than profit, he even says himself he does not even think about what his next painting is going to sell for and that statement proves he paints for his passion and not for money, i really wish this humble and hugely talented young man the best in his life and hope his best interests are looked after by the people around him
