Kenya Airways maiden flight from Nairobi to New York leaves JKIA

- The Kenya Airways inaugural direct flight to the US is scheduled to take off at 10.45pm local time.
The flight will touch down at 6:45am Monday morning at the John F Kennedy International Airport.

Just to clarify, the announcer was not focused on what flag the various airlines fly but if direct flights were possible from various African countries. So he is correct. Delta flies nonstop between Joburg and the US as well as Accra and US. Arik flies Lagos to JFK. The other airlines and routes mentioned below are also generally correct. This is such a big day for Kenya and we can’t wait for other cities in the US to become directly accessible to Kenya. That will be a very big deal!

What our leaders don't know is, Kenya stands at a strategic location in the world map. Kenya can link Asia/Australia with Europe, America and Caribbean Nations. JKIA can be a hub of flights that can be quite busy. But since we have corrupt and useless leaders, they rather sit back and do nothing.

Our Journalists clearly don't do their research.... I can only count 3 other African airlines that go to the US, Ethiopia, Cape Verde and SAA... Ghana, Senegal and Nigeria don't have national carriers anymore

They mean their airports can be used as a last point of departure. Infact no african airline goes direct,ethiopian,south african e.t.c make a technical stop in different airports.

this is cool however, I personally prefer at least a break btn such long hauls.It's a plus however for import and export. At the moment I have only used used KLM for cargo, will be interesting to see what Kenya offers.
