    Great mods, tools, and ideas. Love your rivet tool and the dowel on tail leading edges.The metalized finish on P47 is awesome! That would look excellent on the Mustang! Nice job!

    Thanks a lot on the tip on adhesives and I will remember not to follow instructions to the letter but follow your good advise .I love your idea for rivet lines and here I will advise you in turn , next time anybody tells that those small perferations weaken the stucture , just ask them why toilet paper never tears on the perferrations.Thank you again and please keep postign those good ideas and builds.

    You've heard this a lot already, but is really is outstanding Craftsmanship!! I imagine that the Mylar Wrap actually adds significant strength over the paper skin.
    The CANOPY is actually my party piece here!! My thing has always been detailed Cockpits - but I SUCK at making Canopies. 😖
    I'm doing the MS P-47 soon... I look forward to trying some of your techniques, but the Canopy is but a pipe dream for this old Fart!

      Give it a try you wont regret it. It takes me a few tries to get it right. Im just using old blister packaging from tools,toys ect. Whatever i can find. The hardest paut is making a mold of what yoy want but the beauty is youy have that mold forever.
      Good Luck My friend!! Thank you!

    • @CarminesRCTipsandTricks
      @CarminesRCTipsandTricks 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cabmantim Thank you for responding! I just talked about this with a Friend tonight... He suggested making the Mold using a Balsa Wood Block. Easy to whittle and sand, when done, "paint" the finished Mold with a 2-part Epoxy....
      He told me that the Epoxy should actually bleed into the Balsa, leaving a Hard finish.
      You ever try anything THAT out there?? Seems nutty enough to work!
      I'm also BUGGED by the thick Foam Trailing Edges. 😖 I use a Covering Iron though, on the lowest setting.
      I may not end up with a removable Wing... But your access Hatch is SO MUCH nicer than Overstreet's design!!!
      Not putting him down! I can't design Planes. But John really doesn't put much thought or effort into esthetics. 😜

    There is a guy going around bashing flite test planes saying they are designed wrong and keeps saying he is trying to teach people aeronautics but he is a nuisance and rather annoying. He attacked someone on their own site because he didn't like his flite test modified plane. You did one awesome job on that and it shows. At first glance, it looks like a Balsa build.

    greetings from germany, i just stumbled over your video, very nice work i have to say, really cool, im dont like the color scheme that much but that is a personal thing, build wise very well done mate, very well...thinking about one of these FT planes for a while and since im a huge P-47 fan this one is on top of my list...never build one of those FT´s planes before though, anyway thanks for sharing - cheers

    I absolutely love your mods , the craftmanship is truly amazing . What puzles me is , how do you get your planes ballanced . I normaly end up with a ton of lead in the nose ,I could not see any on your P47 .Again super work

    • @cabmantim
      @cabmantim  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Stan. I concentrate all my efforts weight wise on keeping the tail as light as possible. I also use expanding polyurethane glues instead of hot glues. It has a small impact as well on weight reduction. Remember to always keep your electronics as far forward as possible, even the servos. even a cm or two forward can save many grams in the nose. For some plans it is inevitable that nose weight will have to be added. Thanks again and best of luck!

    Inspiring stuff! You could probably sell those canopies on ebay or via the forums, they make a huge difference to the look of the plane. I'm surprised FT are not offering their own (and the engines). Also, how about a pilot? Even a profile from foam board would look OK when it flies past, but a 3d print would be great.

    Your build quality and detail work is on the next level! I've built lots of FT planes and designed a few as well... the FT Arrow came about shortly after Josh Bixler flew my Aerowing 30 and I shared some of the design details of how I made it fly like its on rails. One of my best build techniques was using a monocoat iron on a low setting to smooth out and round the edges of the foam which really makes a refined look to any foamboard plane.
    Could you do a video on some of your detail techniques like using the chrome avery material, do you apply it to the flat parts before shaping them? I just bought some avery labels for my wing edges and seams... great idea, thanks. You inspired me to step up my game! I'm Hell2Go on the Ft Forums
