He never gets in any ‘best ever’ teams .. but between 87-90ish he was in the top 5 players in the world on his day!
Maybe even mid 80s to 90s, only Diego was a better dribbler. Had he played for a Napoli later, or Serie A he would have got alot more respect for his abilty.
I love John Barnes, my favourite LFC player, they say never meet your idols, I did and he was brilliant.

I grew up on the same council estate in south Manchester as Roger Palmer who Barnesy mentioned. He was mates with my dad 😂 He played for Oldham and Man City. Good player.

No one had referenced the footage of Hodge securing the shirt back in 1986. Barnes himself only saw the footage in 2002. There was no youtube in 1986 to make a gif of Hodge wading through the swarm around Diego
Any manager at any of the Oldfirm is liable for the sack losing a couple of games where u come from matters not JB couldn't handle the pressure full stop

John Barnes hasn't a clue about Celtic. He claims he wouldn't be accepted? Bull! Celtic accept anyone and everyone. We had a Slovak manager prior to him and a Dutch manager prior to that. Celtic also had some of the first black and Asian players in Scotland in Gil Heron and Mohammed Salim. Utter mince from Barnes. That statement he made says more about Barnes than Celtic. He was way out his depth at Celtic. Should he have subsequently been a success elsewhere those claims may have held water but where has he been a success?? I wish him well, but he needs to quit talking sht about Celtic and its fan base.
