I have to say, as a long time Leeds fan, watching Rio at Leeds was amazing. Absolute rolls royce of a player. Great mentality, great captain and just ozzed class. He was so good to watch, carried the ball well and had a goal in him. Not one of us liked losing players to man utd, but i've nothing but respect for him. Top player
He was much better at Leeds than he was at Man U. Very lucky Vidic and Evra came and won him some titles at Man U. Him, Brown, Blanc, Silvertre, the Nevilles all awful in those barren years after Irwin and Stam left. O'Shea the only decent one. Those years at Leeds were the only time in his career where he wouldn't have those lapses in concentration and hand teams goals. If he played like he did at Leeds for the rest of his career I would probably put him above Maldini as the best cb of all time, apart from that one mistake v Brazil he was brilliant at world cup 2002 too
As a United fan how I wish we still had Rio in our defence, he is without doubt the best central defender this country has ever produced he is world class
Brilliant interview here. As a West Ham fan it absolutely answers all the questions I have had about Frank Lampards awful treatment. I always wondered why the derogatory remarks about him seemed to be so loud. It was coming from other more senior players. Frank was world class. They had no class. I really wish Rio would start mentioning names, because I would make sure I never uttered their name in the same sentence as West Ham ever again
@@shesbaldbutiwould, what do u know about football? I’ve Ben football fan since 80s but more into it , in d 90s. Is like mo salad @ Roma was unplayable in seria A but Liverpool gave him all d trophies he deserves.
It baffles me how it's hard for ex- England players to pin point why it didnt work out for us. Tactics ok but really was that it? Can we say the football boots or the balls were the problem? Come on. But it is a shame, the team was amazing
It would be a cracking program to get all or as many as possible from that "golden generation" team sat down in a room and talk about it now and see if they could figure it out.
@@TheDoosh79 No need, Scholes and Lampard have answered it. The other teams were just better and the midfield should have been built around Carrick and Hargreaves. No need for a show.
What it was, was bad coaching. They all blame Sven but he actually took it up a level. Keegan and Hoddle trird to rely on the old guard. While Sven actually played the best 11. Coaching in England was awful before they got spanked by Germany in 2010 and they said okay we need to copy Germany and Spain. Back in the day England fought they could just win through grit. Players like Phil Foden and Sterling would have been told to play two touch or they would have been benched like Joe Cole and any inventive player before Rooney was. It was all get it up to Shearer or Heskey up front get it out to Beckham and everyone get in the box LOL
As a Leeds fan, I never really rated rio, didn't get all hype. He was average at best and just lucky enough to play in good teams. Matteo, Radebe and Woodgate was far superior although the later had his problems
England was flat because of the midfield. Gerrard & lampard are too similar. No balance. Neither can dictate or set up play. Both are attacking midfielders. Midfield controls the game.
He’s in a WhatsApp group with his friends from there. We don’t know if they are still living in a council estate and why would that matter anyways if he’s still friends with them 😄
Big United fan and love Rio but I found what Cole said to be a little disrespectful to Vidic with the Jaap Stam & Rio partnership claiming they would only concede 10 goals a season. Vidic was a monster and certainly held his own and personally I prefer him over Rio! All in all though another great podcast👍

Brilliant conversation. Love Joe as an interviewer.
Duno I’m still warming to him can’t lie
Top top player, top top bloke. All the best Rio Ferdinand.
Rio and Lucas Radebe had to be one of the best center back partnerships ever, shame it never lasted long
Rio really loves his whatsapp groups, he constantly mentions it in conversations
I think he realises its relatable
Do we really believe he's still tight with 6 of the day one boys? I have doubts.
@@TheUnleetGamer yeah
Don't we all
I reckon he’s always active in them 😅
whys rio dressed like he's going on safari 🤣🤣
Top class defender in his playing days and a top class person 👍🏼

Yeah
Unreal player 👏
Always felt safe with Rio at the back for united.
Rio had it all
Strong player and a stronger human being

Can't remember which world cup it was, i think it was 2002. Rio was brilliant he even overshadowed Sol Campbell who was impeccable for England.
This is one of the best podcasts out there 👍🏻👍🏻
I wish this was longer.. 👏🏾
Yeah
I rate his style so much. I strive to put on fits every day like him
Completely agree about missing player rivalries
Players like JT, Ashley Cole and Rooney were villified based on rumours so can't blame players for wanting perfect PR these days
Proper London boys! Get nostalgic seeing this interview.
Class player it’s got to be said. Strong, fast, great tackler and header of the ball, but could also really play as well.
Legend and a class player Rio ☝🏿🤴🏿💯🚀
Rio is so good proper liking all his content
Top class this player Rio
These podcasts need to be longer!!!
They are ! Full version on line
Great Pod Man
Enjoyed that boys
Rio and jaap......... madness!
love the bgm at the start..pls let me know whhat its called, where can i find it?
Love this! I know there are so many podcasts now but this has the two mates feel to it and both can relate to the situations. Great podcast 👊🏼
Joe Cole is very relatable. Imagine a Weekly podcast with Harry Redknapp, Defoe, Rio, Joe Cole. I think it would be the most viewed on youtube
Anyone noticed how much Rio looks like Robert Downey jr’s character from Tropic Thunder in this
Lol
I always thought that after i saw tropic thunder
Yeah yeah yeah Cole
Rio’s dress sense is so dope 🔥
its really not
I thought I had clicked on a Shaggy video by mistake when he first walked in 😃
@@kevob hahahaha!
Looks like he stayed over David Hayes house unplanned
Icl i was so invested into this
United legend rio
Really enjoying this podcast
Would love to hear from Joe and his move to Chelsea
rio has own own channel called 'Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE' and has talked to joe cole for an hour
@@antboa yeah
Rio says he misses the rivalries between players but that's one of the main reasons england didn't win anything too many cliches in the squad
Because they are winning loads now lol
Still no win fuckal
Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney are the epitome of Man United.
For me , the best career form of Rio Ferdinand was @ Leeds United, he was unplayable but Man U gave him all d trophies he won .
no chance 2008-2010 his peak

Thanks
What I'm time for guy fawkes???
Fear of God.

Joe Cole: Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Joe Cole as Premier Minister would be fun to see 😂

Good sit-down that
Right at the end, riots should have said Maldini! Imagine that partnership
When he was thinking in my head I was saying 'Maldini, Maldini, Maldini'. Jt and Maldini would be my all time cbs

One of these days Joe is going to slip in a "Yip" and our heads will explode...Yeah yeah yeah
The best to ever do it.
Everybody and their mama have a podcast these days.
My Mama don't
I think the ballet training helped his football skills tenfold
It's like a boys club with a group of players and all their mates getting all the Football jobs.
That's how life works, especially in a field that relies on popularity and doesn't have specific qualifications.

Is Rio really in a WhatsApp group with lads from a council estate? I’m calling BS
Yes. He is still a man of the people.

The minnows, england are hardly giants of the game, one majority tournament won in your history and that was on home soil
Yeah😅
might have brought in 30 mill but could have handled it better!
I met Rio Ferdinand outside old Trafford in 2007 and his breath stunk of poo
Prob coz your mum was sat on his face 20 mins before…
Rio wasn't a great centre half
Never won anything Man Utd won things and Rio played for them
Best center half my hole,he was useless
Erm…. Ok mate
Why does Joe Cole always speak like he’s got a big gulp of spit in his mouth??
GREAT INTERVIEW from a LFC fan.
