    Very good video. Now will the outside switch still work? If you come back to the trailer in the dark. Thank you.

      As long as the one on the inside is set to on, the one on the outside will work.

    I have no power to my outside light. All fuses are good and everything else works. I think I’m going to have to pull my refrigerator to run a new wire!

    We ordered our new 2022 Casita SD for pickup in July 2022. I have been looking at different mods people have done to their Casitas. I love your very well thought out mods. Liked and subscribed! Happy camping!❤️🇺🇸

    LOVE your Casita Modifications!!! Is the black wire always the hot wire? On a car battery the black is ground... Your maintenance/modifications videos are very informative and applied to other RVs too! Thanks for sharing.

      The Casita is wired that way... white is the common and black is the "hot". I think it is this way because the fiberglass doesn't conduct electricity so every item has to have a black and white wire.

    Alan great idea - why doesn’t Casita do this! I have a 2021 that has LED light fixture and bulb. It has red, white and black wires. Do I need to do anything different from what you did because it is LED? Thanks.

    • @RVAdventuresTV
      @RVAdventuresTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not that I know. I would check the white to black with a volt meter to see if those are the correct wires for negative and positive. Also check white and red. Usually a red wire indicates the circuit continues to another fixture, so be sure to check it good.

      @drs3055 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well Alan, I didn’t check the wires as you suggested! What will happen if I didn’t connect the right wires together. What happens now, is that I can turn the outside light on and off from the new inside switch. Will I burn my trailer down if not wired right?

    The story you told at the beginning is just why we purchased the kit from Little House Customs to put a switch for the light inside. We wanted to be able to see outside if someone was knocking on the door.

    Would you know if they have changed this on newer models?

    • @RVAdventuresTV
      @RVAdventuresTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. There still isn't an inside switch for the porch light.

      I'd like to watch a series of Workshop videos where you explain the basics of DIY ... That'd come in handy for sailors and RVers

      Great idea... there are many basics that can apply to boats like RVs. Thanks for the comment.

    A much easier option that's very inexpensive, is to simply install solar powered motion detection sensor lights. You can find them for as little as $10 each.

      @4321grp 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Then the light will be coming on whenever anyone or anything goes past, whether you want it to come on or not. His idea is much better. this way he can turn the light on only when he wants it on..

    We have a 2009 SD. We just put on a new exterior grab handle. I felt a lump on the inside, thought was wires. I was very afraid to cut into carpet and afraid I was going to cut wires.
    Makes me wonder, why doesn’t Casita run all of of the wires along edges that can be accessed for upgrades or repairs?! Would be so much easier.
    Enjoy your videos!
    Thank you!

      That is a great idea. There are a lot of things that could be better with the Casita manufacturing process. I do hope they listen to feedback from owners and incorporate some improvements in the future.

    Another great mod. I have a question, did you bypass the switch on the light or the switch can still turn off the light?

    • @RVAdventuresTV
      @RVAdventuresTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't decided what I want to do about that... I think I am most likely going to bypass the switch but I wanted to use it for a while to make sure I don't come across a time when I would want to turn it on outside when returning to the Casita at night vs. leaving it on when I know I will be returning at night.

    • @travelhawk7895
      @travelhawk7895 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RV Adventures if you decide to bypass the switch on the outside light, you may want to consider switch to this light. th-cam.com/video/QCyCu2lsnUQ/w-d-xo.html I am sure scamp sells them in their parts store. Good luck enjoy all your mod videos.

    I appreciate your mechanical&engineering talents! Do you have any experience with rear view monitor systems? I have the same setup as you do. Jeep GrandCherokee with Casita 17'. I have researched and tried several camera systems and have not yet found one that satisfies my needs. Any brands or advise would be appreciated!
    Thank you for your wisdom!
