AJPW (All Japan) did the same thing as WCW two years later in early 2003, getting sold in January. By the end of 2003, the company was totally unrecognizable and lost half their ratings & TV tape attendance in the mid 2000s. By the late 2000s, they became Japan's ROH.
@@sedrickgipson8088 No negotiations have started and Vince has no motive to sell if he doesn't want to. The only thing that's happened so far is he kicked off Board members to reinstate himself and two more of his cronies.
I said it before but Vince is very much like Michael Myers. Just when you think he’s dead and gone he finds a way to come back and continue causing havoc. I feel so bad for all the people backstage.
Definitely a powerplay to regain full control. If he doesn't get his way he'll sell to someone that wants him back in total control of every aspect like before. Best case situation if a sale happens is that whoever or whatever company buys them, leaves them alone as long as they make money and doesn't get involved trying to change things with people who don't know wrestling.
Any other company that had the owner decide to change the bylaws to block all sales, fire the board of directors, and install themselves and a bunch of cronies in the same day would implode. Especially publicly traded, they'd have the FTC so far up their ass they'd be knocking teeth. But no, the Vince gets away with it because everyone thinks the company is a joke, and anybody who bought into the stock today because they're expecting Vince to sell is the punchline.
Well the FTC and SEC may still step in. It’s only been a day after all. I would be a bit surprised if they don’t do anything after this. The destruction of any oversight or corporate governance over him would be surprising for them to let skate by. That’s why I feel like the most likely sale being Vince finding a way to take things private and avoiding their involvement. But the fact their stock structure has been allowed for so long is surprising for me. The way he set this up from the jump ensured he’d never get ousted from the company.

This power struggle has been going on for a LONG time. It has been clear for years. The fact that Vince never pushed any talent that came out of NXT was an obvious sign. When Nick Khan was brought in, it was obvious by the departures around that time that people were not happy with it. When HHH gets sick, Vince fires all of HHH's people and installs his cronies while completely removing every sign that HHH was ever there. When Stephanie takes the leave of absence, they immediately find a permanent replacement and release a statement essentially saying that she sucked at her job. WWE in 2023 feels more like AJPW (All Japan) getting sold in 2003 than WCW in 2001, which WCW was totally closed after the buyout. After AJPW's buyout, it was still open, but it's like if WCW became a small-time indy show like today's OVW. I think this is very close to what WWE will be over time: In the summer of 2000, AJPW lost half its roster to NOAH during the exodus. As a result, ratings dipped for AJPW and were evenly split with NOAH. If you liked Dr. Death and Kawada, you stayed with AJPW. If you liked Vader and Misawa, you went to NOAH, so this led to a viewership split & AJPW's audience halfed. In AJPW's case the small roster & all the new guys coming in with ego, led to a whole bunch of backstage politicking that Mrs. Baba (the owner) couldn't handle, who despite being Giant Baba's widow was not a wrestling person. In 2002 she was in talks to sell the company to Keiji Muto & a bunch of inexperienced TV execs. That eventually happened in January 2003, AJPW being sold & the various people backstage the TV networks wanted in place. In the spring and summer of 2003, things felt like typical AJPW, but by late 2003/early 2004, was an unrecognizable company. By the mid 2000s, it became TNA level, and in the late 2000s, ROH level, although it was still "technically in business". Today, AJPW is like modern-day OVW, with only 20k viewers and no TV deal, buried deep in the menus of streaming services that only the super-hardcore will try to get through. I see something very similar happening to WWE after it gets sold. It will still be in business, but with bad TV execs, each wrestling era the ratings get worse and worse, until the WWE brand becomes a small-time indy fed that's hard to make profit.
At the end of the day, what they're selling is a product and personally I really can't see the turbulence of this situation making the product any better. I might have been too young to fully comprehend at the time but this feels similar to AOL Time Warner buying WCW and if that's how this ends, it more than likely won't be anything but frustrating for anyone left behind post-sale. Non-wrestling people running wrestling usually ends badly. Cut to Roman Reigns with short hair dressed as Spartacus.

Where’s Stone Cold when you need him to challenge Vince to a corporate ladder match for the control of the WWF?
Wait wrong timeline LOL
I feel like Vince being Uncle Howdy is probably best case scenario.
Why u figure that explain 🤔
@@ReactwithRespect-i5i it's the least damage he could do. Just be involved with one angle.
This would allow AEW to realistically compete in the next 3-5 years
@@ricosuave7053 That's a really good point, I didn't think of it in relation to AEW at first, but now that you said it I can picture it.
I very much worry about Vince selling WWE to Saudi Arabia
That’d be a smart move, and it would help the company.
Vince is Uncle Howdy
I don't know why that just really made me laugh.
🤣🤣🤣
At the end of the day, what they're selling is a product and personally I really can't see the turbulence of this situation making the product any better. I might have been too young to fully comprehend at the time but this feels similar to AOL Time Warner buying WCW and if that's how this ends, it more than likely won't be anything but frustrating for anyone left behind post-sale.
Non-wrestling people running wrestling usually ends badly. Cut to Roman Reigns with short hair dressed as Spartacus.

Vince McMahon doing the Karian cross pose, looking at the watch for all talent Triple H brought back!😮
Rumors are there are about to be a ton of releases as they start clearing salary and the books to make it more attractive. If they are REALLY about to sell, then we are about to see a TON of releases and in a hurry.
Yeah the stock was worried about if Gunther would still get his push...Come on, Bryan
I don’t know 🤦♂️🤨🤦♂️ the WWE is the McMahon family company (Vince specifically) BUT if he wants to FUCK over his own company than good luck to lad. I really can’t blame Nick, Stephanie and HHH for trying to hold onto the company and try to bring it some level of success 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
No Mike stop it. 😂. Gets me everytime.
"I'm back!, I'm better than ever"- Eric Bischoff theme
Everyone needs to learn the skill of not freaking out until things actually happen. If he only returns to a limited business capacity as a board member which is all that has happened so far it means he will not be involved in the day-to-day. AND lets not forget he NEVER failed the company from a financial and biz perspective!
Yeah because Vince is a guy known for keeping things at face value
Oh yes I sure hope Vince doesnt change anything about Hit Row and Jonny Sameface
well he used company funds as hush money
@@holo0667 lmao there wouldn't be a company without him
I hope the talent that went back to the WWE after Triple H took over jump shit again.
Poor Trips you know Vince will kill creative again before it's over.
So much for MJF referencing WWE employees in his promos
Wow, the HHH Era didn't last long, lol 🤣😂
This will be the longest preparation for sale in the history of business.
He’s back and he better than ever! Song that preceded Easy E entrance on the ramps must have been low key made for Vince between this and the lethal dose of poison promo means this man is a wrestling Nostradamus no one can convince me otherwise
Cody Rhodes is looking for a way go back to aew right now.
Undertaker is waiting for Vincent McMahon's call for undertakers wrestlemania 42 return.
Hey taker, how's your 4th hip replacement going, need yall now.
Cody rejoined while Vince was in charge
Brian Alvarez will leave the wrestling observer and start his own TH-cam channel in 2023, according to my prediction.
He just had to come back and ruin the fun for everyone.
If Vince takes over creative again, I'm done with WWE. Whatever he does, I hope he leaves Bray Wyatt alone. And who tf is he going to sell WWE to who will do it justice? Do you think NBC, Disney or any others will allow it to grow organically and evolve without interference?
No sound
Mine has🤷♂️🤷♂️
Check your settings.
What I can't hear you? Ha.
I blame this entirely on top dolla
Can he just go!!!!
Emma is gonna to become Emmalina again now Vince is back
In an unrelated story, FOX has inquired to the NFL if there's a chance of launching a weekly Friday night game.
Due to high school prep games nationwide the NFL has agreed never to play Friday games... same goes for Saturday games/ncaa, until the collegiate season ends like decemberish
There'll be mass layoffs if his plan is to sell.
please tell me he is booking again. i could use those extra hours
Vince goat. Aew stay winning. Tony Khan the gawd.
I bet Bronson Reed mist be thrilled lol
Empire strikes back.
I didn't know what TK's tweet was about but after getting some context, it's actually pretty funny!
I legit hate that man.
I bet the fans would still pop big if he came out
Works for me brother... kayfabe is alive and well... I heard he was back to facilitate the acquiring of MJF and ibpray they don't mess with his gimmick or change his music... Royalty Free music can go anywhere and please don't change it Maximum Male Fredman MMF...
Vince ain’t selling......and he is returning to take it all back....anybody disagree?
No audio
Hopefully WWE investigations, the official investigations, or the major buyers won't want him, and will get him thrown out again.
I think even if he doesn't join creative, he's still trying to sell the company which could include fireing a bunch of talent
Vince will sell to a holding company he owns.
Or Saudi Arabia
VKM never ever left! It was me AUSTIN!!! 😆 🤣 😂 😹
What happened to the sound????!!!!! 🤨
This is the basedest timeline
So guys........who do you see on the first wave of releases
Dude just gonna sell the PC, NXT roster, branding and all in one lot on eBay
To all the Anti-AEW haters that were gleefully announcing the downfall of AEW because Vincent Kennedy McMahon was gone?! How U feeling now?!! 😆 🤣 😂
Vince kicked out at 2. Love it.
Can the Khan family afford to make an offer to buy the company? 🤣
Granny a few days ago-Vince is coming back. Bryan-no he isn't, no way will he ever come back, I guarantee it. Granny-there is nothing to stop him. A blind man could see he was coming back. Do him & Dave just parrot off whatever rubbish Tony, Jericho, Bukcs, Omega etc tell them now?
